Thanks for the interesting video. Just thought I'd add that the gold part of the case is likely extruded aluminum rather than folded aluminium. Anything aluminium that has interesting features in only 2 dimensions is probably an extruded section cut to length. Heat sinks are another example. Interesting that they would go to the effort of getting tooling made for an extruded section but go with 3d print for that internal part rather than injection moulded. Late design change?
Neat. Tidy. Modern. Solidly and mindfully constructed. Should last a lifetime with appropriate care. Hard to believe they retail these for ~400 bucks. Can't be all that much profit after all that R&D. Its not like they made a million of em.
I'd be interested in putting non-latching footswitches in place of the little buttons for the play heads. So you think there is enough clearance on the inside of the enclosure for such a mod?
@@simongore29 don't think it would fit. Even if you use the SPST momentary footswitches, you might have an issue with accidentally popping up the potentiometers, and then the footswitch would be even harder to get to. Maybe if you relocated the switch to a different spot altogether
My most hated pedal while I worked in a guitar store Sounded like straight garbage and arrived at the shop broken 🤦♂️ Still sounded very much not good once it was fixed. Absolute nightmare. It makes me smile to think such a preposterous idea made it to being a finished product. Truly amazing engineering and custom fabrication. But my god... Just as impractical as a vintage studio tape echo, but sounds like a worn out cassette tape on its best day.
I appreciate the insight, I was thinking about getting one but I was skeptical how good they sound with the 1/8" tape. Probably just gonna DIY one if it'll sound lofi anyways.
I also had one and returned it. Great build quality overall, but also some quirks. Like the potentiometers were slightly misaligned with the holes and they would scratch when turning. But the worst of all, the delay sound. Too much tape hiss, flutter and everything in between.Managed to find a couple of settings where it sounded good, but too much to fiddle and too expensive for how many good delay sounds I would get out of it.
@@peoplewithpixels I mean what did you expect from actual tape? We've been spoiled by good emulation snd we've forgotten how unpredictable this stuff can be

My buddy bought one of these new. The reels won't stop spinning. It now collects dust. Otherwise these are really fun, great vid!

More excellent content! I’ve wanted one of these contraptions for a couple years. One day……
Was hoping you’d open up the front to examine the heads etc.
Love this show!!!

Are you talking about the short and long switches?

Hoooly shit this is awesome!
Why would they put the saturation knob to the back?
no words or images on the heads... too bad

@@Evildandalo no worries 👌💯
Yep, DIY is the way to go for sure. Or a digital tape style delay pedal 💯
@@Evildandalo the Strymon El Capistan is amazing if you can stretch your budget that far. I sold my WEM Copicat
