I had a 1 day workshop with Juliette yesterday at Reddi-Arts in Jacksonville. She’s an amazing instructor only bettered by her artistic ability. She worked on one of her pieces while she was teaching, and I learned quite a bit just from seeing the piece evolve over the 6 hour class, especially how she developed her defining edges. Also an excellent Design aesthetic, as she was fortunate enough to major in Design in college.
I'm an ex commercial artist / product design and developer now retired and can readily produce a defined piece on demand, but come up woefully short in the design process, it’s been years since I painted for pleasure, and watching an instructor go through the process of doing say, a watercolor, isn’t something that would help me. I can take a picture and paint from it, or work Plein Air without much trouble. But listening to her discuss her process with the other people at the workshop, you could just see the creative gears working in her; like taking off the back of a pocket watch and watching the escapement working.
Very inspirational!
She was also engaging and funny, the time flew by. I would recommend to anyone who aspires to paint well to take a workshop, minimum, with her. And to put things into perspective, I am going to contact her about acquiring on of her pieces, I love her work that much.
