For beginners-you can practice the cuts and strikes all you want, but if you don't train the footwork equally rigorously, you can't do anyting with it. Remember that "boards don't hit back", so don't be fooled by fake martial artists who spend all their time cutting mats, and train very little.

Really nice. Thanks for posting. Appreciated 1:33 because he didn't turn his back on the opponent so much as control his weapon prior to turning his body over. In straight sword, there's an analogous technique where we press the opponent's blade upward, and do the body turnover maintaining that press. It leaves you inside with a completely open target after the body turn over is completed. Because it's double edged sword, you can finish with a back-edge cut.

1:44 I didn't like as much. In theory, he would have caused the opponent to momentarily lose control of their weapon, but he's still outside when he completes the turn, so it doesn't feel like any real advantage would be conferred.
