This form is knives against an attack from a six foot long pole, which is the next form. It also teaches footwork as well as training arm movements learned earlier in the system.
I don't think Yip Chun learned the knife form from Yip Man directly, or much of the rest of the system for that part. In the 50s and 60s Yip Ching and Yip Chun lived in mainland China, apart from there dad in Hong Kong. Of course once in Hong Kong they exchanged dialogue but they did not receive most of there hands on training from there dad. Any ways, according to Wong Shun Leung, Yip Man only taught 5 people the form personally, and even they have differences in their forms. I think it's mostly to do with Yip Mans own personal development influencing his teachings and likewise for his students to adjust things according to there own beliefs and experiences. In my own opinion the knifes( and also long pole ) in most Wing Chun lineages serves mostly as in the purpose of plyometrics training to strenghten the empty hand techniques, and not so much as real weapon applications. If you think of it as plyometrics training also, the sky is the limit. I like to perform the Biu Gee form with the knifes. Try it. Of course there are exceptions( think Tang Yick lineage to name one ), But according to Wang Kiu, if you wanted to really learn weaponry, there are much better styles out there then Wing Chun.
@@benjaminboot2340 yeh was learning this form when covid hit and between that and working months without a day off havent had a chance to learn anything besides on my own. Under the Duncan Leung lineage.. I just enjoy training really..

Why does Ip Chun do it different than other people that trained under Ipman? Like my forms different.

@@NostalgicTribe Good for you! Duncan leung, one of the best Yip Man lineages in my opinion!
@@benjaminboot2340 you are right but IP man taught this form only 3 of his disciples, according to Great Grand master "cheu ji- tsuen."
