In a situation of authoritarian control over the past, a propaganda version of history, stylized as scientific research and supported by the authority of the state or another powerful propaganda machine, can overpower any serious research and expert analysis. What should a researcher and expert do in the situation of "post-truth" and overproduction of historical knowledge?
