All three solo dances are heavily inspired by different Korean traditional dances, and Jimin actually won an award for his fan dance! The whole performance was basically one big 'Fuck you' to people who were saying that BTS were becoming americanized or catering to Western audiences. Also, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy watching your reactions, because it's obvious that you care about BTS and you have a lot of interesting comments from your perspective as a performer. It's interesting to hear you talk about little things that are normally glossed over!
Wait... WHAT? You haven’t seen the MMA 2018 performance before. 😱 Where have you been boy? I thought this was the best BTS performance until the guys killed the MMA 2019. The three Js slaying as always. Hobi showing his body control and isolations, Jimin showing his elegance and confidence while dancing, and Jungkook showing his dancing skills with powerful moves. 👏🏽👏🏽

Both Jungkook and Jimin are black belts in tae kwon do. Jimin also did 8 years of training in kendo. High kicks? No problem for these guys. Also, Big Hit always pays for their own stage costs WAY above whatever amount the shows may give them. They don't scrimp at all. They are promoting their own culture in this fabulous performance. They also probably completely paid for their set on Corden's show. They always know exactly what they want for their sets. They never cheap out and it shows.

IKR HOBI ALWAYS LOOKS SO FREE. Even when I watch their concert fancams he doesn't always stick to the main choreo like, he adds a little bit of something into his moves. That's why I think he's a master performer, he never shows the same thing twice, you always notice something different and you don't get bored of him. His charisma and confidence in his performance ability shines. Like you could throw him on an empty stage, play a random beat and he WILL give you grand damn show. Some people belittle his street dance/freestyle dance background and think it's inferior to some dance styles but man ITS SO HARD TO NOT LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT DOING FREESTYLE also he built his confidence and professional attitude from the streets. His strict attitude and serious love towards dance is what made him become BTS' dance captain, the team had THAT much trust in him. He is the performance leader of this worldwide group. (side note: hobi is so in love with dance that in any free time he has he tries to learn new styles or relearn styles that he hasnt had much practice in like; house dance) tbh in their early days their main choreographer mr son sung deuk mentioned how jhope held back a lot for the team, jhope didn't want the team to be criticized in their performance ability so he stepped up to guide each member, have them do the choreo one by one in order for their performance to perfect. There are times their main choreographer isn't with them, jhope leads. In their behind the scenes dvd, while rehearsing on stage, Jhope will call out a member who did a wrong move and teach them what they need to correct it or make it simpler for them to do.
baconx OK This was an amazing explanation of Hobi’s skills 👏🏽👏🏽 I don’t think a lot of people can have so much confidence, charisma, and attitude while dancing. You can clearly see how much he enjoys dancing and how much he cares about the members in the choreographies. This is why he holds the title of dance leader. The best thing of the dance line is that all of them have different styles of dancing, and when they are together are unique. 👌🏽
baconx Jhope is truly a master of dance. It is a shame that he doesn’t get as much screen time. But like I mentioned in one of my other vids, when I saw them live, hobi was the one I focused on a lot apart from Jimin. Dude can perform! His energy is endless! And you are so right- free styling is not easy, I myself can’t do it!

This was an amazing performance and my fav bit was Jimins fan dance as he did it so gently and smooth and silky, also ive been and army since 2014 and these 7 lads have helped me theu some of my darkest days and have helped me to calm down wen ive been stressed out, just listening to their voices help to calm and relax me

Jeff jimin training helped him with the jump kick he does it a lot , also jk , jimin, and Jin are experienced in martial arts and j hope well he just a great dancer and I love how they incorporate that in their dancing. Also they love African dance too

And FYI, after Jimin's epic ground breaking fan dance (which broke gender norms because the dance is normally done by women), The Kim Baek Bong Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society presented Jimin with a plaque of appreciation! On it KBB Fan Dance Conservation Society wrote, “By having reinterpreted the beautiful Korean fan dance in a unique way, you have made a great contribution in raising the status and aesthetic value of the Korean fan dance globally.” AND more recently, the Korean Cultural Center in China posted a promotional video for Korean traditional dance on Weibo - which highlighted Jimin's fan dance! Achu ArMy018 2018 onwards it was hard to keep up with the award season performances and musters as I just moved to a new city. For the MMA 2019 I did watch- but I think I’ll just do like an analysis for it :)

I believe the company pays for their own artists stage in Korea award shows. BTS stages got more epic every year because Bighit put major $$$ in their productions. They take their craft seriously from costume, remixes of their songs, stage set, backup dancers and other guests musicians/dancers, cultural and historical references. It’s almost a theatre/musical/movie production on its own. US award shows can get an upgrade if BTS performs fully. They transformed James Cordan’s late late show stage with Black Swan. Imagine what they could do in a full scale award show performance on bigger stadium stage. (hint - their stadium SY concert tours)

I understand what you are saying about Tae. He has a depth to him. Like all of them wear masks between their real selves and stage selves, but it feels like Tae hides any vulnerable part of him, no matter who he is with. In the early years Tae was always acting happy, doing his boxy smile, joking around. But as he has grown older he has shed his last vestiges of innocence and vulnerability. He smirks more than he smiles. He usually does neither.
Again, I learn so much about performing and dance from you. Have you thought about getting into directing yourself? We talk about these sons as being nostalgic, but in reality they are not that old. I'm amazed by the sheer quantity of music that BTS and BIG HIT produce. 3 albums in one year? Insane!

I also love how he uses his hands and his limbs, he also locks and pops so powerfully I think that th cloaks and masks were already a nod to persona since persona as such was used for the masks actors used in the theatre in Ancient Rome and Greece (as far as I remember)

They’re definitely athletes! Idk if you’ve seen some behind the scenes where they get massages in between performances and stuff; that’s like when boxers get massages on the ring - to relax the muscles so they don’t tighten or cramp. They’re okay 👌🏽
Thank you for the constant highlight the hard work tt the members who are not dance inclined have to put in to make a whole cohesive performance. Even as a dancer there are some genres tt we will find hard to express and have to go doubly hard to try. I have nothing but respect for these guys.

You said in Korea, BTS is given big budget by the organiser bcos they are huge. FYI, performance in awards shows (whether MMA, MAMA, Golden Disk Awards etc.) by an artist is financed by the artist's management company. The organiser (in this case~ MMA) does not pay a cent to the artist. Ofc, MMA will decide on the time allocation, arrangement (who gets to perform last) and provide the assistance (staff, set designer etc) but money comes frm the label company 😔. For this show, BH reportedly spent abt USD $270,000. I guess BH doesn't mind spending bc this is a huge exposure to the general public, opportunity to showcase BTS' talents.
9:57 Not sure if you know about the pairs in BTS during different era. In HYYH era, the pair is JK+SUGA, Jimin+Jope, V+RM; in WINGS era it turned to be JK+RM, Jimin+SUGA, V+Jhope. As you said if Black Swan is the reflection of Fake love, it just echo the HYYHWINGS two parallel worlds
Hahaha of course Jimin can dance, bcoz he is a DANCER an original contemporary dancer before joined the company, no wonder! Also J-Hope.. Of course he can dance, he's the most stable dancer on team & become the main dancer, bcoz he used to a street dancer, so no wonder too! Jeff jimin training helped him with the jump kick he does it a lot , also jk , jimin, and Jin are experienced in martial arts and j hope well he just a great dancer and I love how they incorporate that in their dancing. Also they love African dance too

I love watching BTS perform. I mean look at that stage and their performance. My bias is Jimin, his duality and dance is out of this world.
I get what u mean about Taehyung,he is indeed mysterious.I cant even begin to explain all that is Kim Taehyung.

I am also Jimin bias, but I just love how you give credit to all the members for how hard they have worked to get where they are today! And FYI, after Jimin's epic ground breaking fan dance (which broke gender norms because the dance is normally done by women), The Kim Baek Bong Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society presented Jimin with a plaque of appreciation! On it KBB Fan Dance Conservation Society wrote, “By having reinterpreted the beautiful Korean fan dance in a unique way, you have made a great contribution in raising the status and aesthetic value of the Korean fan dance globally.” AND more recently, the Korean Cultural Center in China posted a promotional video for Korean traditional dance on Weibo - which highlighted Jimin's fan dance! So happy Jimin is your bias too! ;-)

I believe the company pays for their own artists stage in Korea award shows. BTS stages got more epic every year because Bighit put major $$$ in their productions. They take their craft seriously from costume, remixes of their songs, stage set, backup dancers and other guests musicians/dancers, cultural and historical references. It’s almost a theatre/musical/movie production on its own. US award shows can get an upgrade if BTS performs fully. They transformed James Cordan’s late late show stage with Black Swan. Imagine what they could do in a full scale award show performance on bigger stadium stage. (hint - their stadium SY concert tours)
V W ohh interesting! I find it a bit weird cause usually it’s the producers that budget the productions. But nonetheless, the Korean award shows SLAY. I love the remixes they do especially!
Jeff Avenue i think the awards did give the artists basic stage set, but if the artist want something to add i think thats when the company have to put some $$$ to create the stage.
@@gebimeidina78 Yes, and I believe this also happened in the US as well. There were articles last year about Madonna's "Medellin" performance at the 2019 BBMAs and how she footed the bill herself (it was $5M... yipes).

I understand what you are saying about Tae. He has a depth to him. Like all of them wear masks between their real selves and stage selves, but it feels like Tae hides any vulnerable part of him, no matter who he is with. In the early years Tae was always acting happy, doing his boxy smile, joking around. But as he has grown older he has shed his last vestiges of innocence and vulnerability. He smirks more than he smiles. He usually does neither.
Again, I learn so much about performing and dance from you. Have you thought about getting into directing yourself? We talk about these sons as being nostalgic, but in reality they are not that old. I'm amazed by the sheer quantity of music that BTS and BIG HIT produce. 3 albums in one year? Insane!

I think that th cloaks and masks were already a nod to persona since persona as such was used for the masks actors used in the theatre in Ancient Rome and Greece (as far as I remember)
every time I watch one of your videos and hear your commentary on tough their dance moves are, my heart hurts from knowing how much of a toll their performances take on their bodies ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
They’re definitely athletes! Idk if you’ve seen some behind the scenes where they get massages in between performances and stuff; that’s like when boxers get massages on the ring - to relax the muscles so they don’t tighten or cramp. They’re okay 👌🏽
Thank you for the constant highlight the hard work tt the members who are not dance inclined have to put in to make a whole cohesive performance. Even as a dancer there are some genres tt we will find hard to express and have to go doubly hard to try. I have nothing but respect for these guys.

You said in Korea, BTS is given big budget by the organiser bcos they are huge. FYI, performance in awards shows (whether MMA, MAMA, Golden Disk Awards etc.) by an artist is financed by the artist's management company. The organiser (in this case~ MMA) does not pay a cent to the artist. Ofc, MMA will decide on the time allocation, arrangement (who gets to perform last) and provide the assistance (staff, set designer etc) but money comes frm the label company 😔. For this show, BH reportedly spent abt USD $270,000. I guess BH doesn't mind spending bc this is a huge exposure to the general public, opportunity to showcase BTS' talents.
You should deffo react to Jimin’s talent explosion. It shows all his splits, kicks, jumps etc
9:57 Not sure if you know about the pairs in BTS during different era. In HYYH era, the pair is JK+SUGA, Jimin+Jope, V+RM; in WINGS era it turned to be JK+RM, Jimin+SUGA, V+Jhope. As you said if Black Swan is the reflection of Fake love, it just echo the HYYHWINGS two parallel worlds

Hahaha of course Jimin can dance, bcoz he is a DANCER an original contemporary dancer before joined the company, no wonder! Also J-Hope.. Of course he can dance, he's the most stable dancer on team & become the main dancer, bcoz he used to a street dancer, so no wonder too! But the rest, they're deserve to be appreciated more for theirs dancing skill from zero experience till how u see them now. That's freakin incredible!
