32 years ago. I went to Tunisia....on the flight back, My seat was facing back....taking off was awful, i was so far forward, almost in someones lap. I had a banger of a hang-over also...im sure that beats your flight haha...great vlog, thanks x

The staff were kept busy but thoroughly professional throughout including dealing with a plonker who was caught vaping in the loo.😢 Tenerife later in the year.
The plane doing the odd banking is perfectly normal and it's all about slot space for landing and approach procedures. You can't make the air colder it isn't a car it's powered by the engine Intakes so ask the captain for a laugh
You are on the hot side of the plane on that run but you get the best arrival views. The holiday starts when you see that big triangular group of buildings 1 minute out. Been to Los Gigs loads of times.
Andrew I don’t think you read the menu properly at breakfast. The first item on the menu is bacon or sausage on a brioche bun. You got toast instead so I guess you ordered something that wasn’t on the menu. Still not great value or service but got to appreciate there’s a bit of a mix up on your side there too

My last Jet2 flight in February flying back from Maderia, we all boarded and then they kept us on the plane for 3 3/4 hours because of a technical fault in 29 degrees heat. Plane was full...and that was hot! The staff gave us one cup of water the whole time! They couldnt fix the fault and we were eventually taken off and all put up in a hotel till the following day. People were ill because of that heat!!! Flying to Tenerife in September with them...fingers crossed for a decent plane!!
We travelled to Tenerife with Jet2 last October, but from East Mids airport. A great plane, comfy seats and window blinds. You were very unlucky with your flight, though. That coffee and bacon and toast you had, pre flight. A good vet could have brought that bacon back to life, so under-cooked, and cold coffees to boot! Well done and congratulations to Laura and Buddies, with the top 10 in the world award on Trip Adviser.
The lack of window blinds is because when jet2 started out they used those planes for cargo and since they stopped doing that, they’ve never been refitted onto them
Have never managed to fly with Jet 2 yet, its one of those awkward airports (Stansted ) for us to get to. They dont fly from Gatwick or Heathrow. Early morning flights are the best, part of the fun is getting up in the middle of the night to get to the airport ❤ I must admit i would have walked out of that restaurant waiting all that time for that coffee and slices of bread, that 100% wasn't a toasty
We use Jet2 a lot and not had a bad flight, the port side does get hot on the older Boeing planes , hence the safety card blind , the new fleet is all airbus 321’s and they have blinds , only issue with them is row1 seat A-C is not extra leg room anymore. Re la gomera loop , we had that once and it was due to congestion coming into Tenerife
Your aircraft registration was - G-GDFR. Do you know what that means? GDF stands for Great Deal Friendlier and there are quite a few in the Jet2 fleet (the last letter varies). You will also find G-JZHx (Jet 2 Holidays), G-HLYx (Holiday), G-SUNx (Sun of course) and a few other more obscure ones (but they all have a meaning and explanation).
I mean you wanted bacon sandwich with toasted bread a toastie is two slices of bread cheese and usually ham made in a toastie machine maybe it was lost in translation 😅
My advice, take noise cancelling headphones, 4 hours of Haribo rustling and munching strangers drives me insane. Also, the Boots click and collect gets you past security restrictions - but most airlines will insist on putting those purchases in your personal bag so leave some room and weight in that 1 bag - they'll slaughter your bank card at boarding if youre unlucky. Boots isnt duty free even if you collect airside. With regards to the 360 near La Gomera, this is for one of 2 things. Either spacing the aircraft out for landing because it's so busy(a hold), this is fairly rare at Tenerife they would normally just use S bends that aren't as noticeable. Or it was too high and they use the 360 to descend. I'm afraid you'll have to get used with no window shade, most new aircraft don't have them to save weight (yours was an older aircraft but manufacturers have been offering to remove them for Airlines for about 20 years now).
Re the port side of the plane , I always sit in a window seat and yes it’s gets hot , but I use the safety card as a blind 👍🏻 best views of the island coming in though

They were hardly busy in that restaurant yet put no effort in to that toastie ! Couldn't manage to actually but the bacon on the toast either !! Think I would have give it them back.

Twice now I've had jet 2 flights that didn't have air con. The last one we was stuck on the runway for over 2 hours with no air con. Thought I was going to die from heatstroke. I avoid flying with them now
They do have air con - you wouldn't survive without it on the plane... The difference is, the air con doesn't work without the engines started, or without the APU running. That isn't unique to Jet2..
Hi im thinking about going to los cristianos for a holiday, ive been to las americas in the past but id like to know if los cristianos is quiter and suitable for a couples holiday?
My worst flight was 8hrs on delta after 9hrs across the Atlantic with Vergin first class, late into jfk so we had less than an hour to go through immigration and back through security to catch a delta flight to San Francisco, no service what so ever the cabin crew made them selves scarce we wher ment to have food and drinks service but none. But on the rtn trip it was fantastic brilliant crew. But I’ve never had issue with Vergin or American and even BA but it has been a while since I’ve flown BA. but we probably won’t be on a flying holiday for a few years due to costs and other plans. But when I fly I try to premium economy bar are free upgrade we had with Vergin to first witch was amazing but to pay the full price is not what I can afford, and I try to go with a full service airline due if I’m paying good money to fly I want to enjoy the flight ✈️ especially as a av geek. I get what low cost carriers provide and dose service a purpose and have had some good flights on them to.
Jet2 have a really mixed fleet of aircraft at the moment, I used to work for them. They have around 40 Boeing 737s that are newer that have window blinds, the mid life ones have had their blinds taken out, interestingly I’ve heard it’s because the aircraft is heavier than the new ones to allow passengers to have more hand luggage for weight and balance! We don’t have many old ones any more but it’s just a case Of waiting for the new planes to come it which have been delayed due to Covid! Liverpool only have 737s so it’s just pot luck which plane you get! Manchester seem to be getting all the new planes, in terms of the temperature in the cabin, on the 737 old and new are controlled in the flight deck, and does take a while to come through! The airbuses the new ones are controlled by the cabin crew on the screen at the front. I hate to see you had an uncomfortable flight with jet2 because when I worked there they are such a good company and the staff work so hard. Im glad the service made up for it! Please don’t let it put you off, they have major plans for new aircrafts over the the next few years! :)
i went to Fuerteventura 1998 there was something wrong with our original plane so the substitute plane must have come out of retirement the decals were removed but you could see what it spelt also toilet door was fixed closed with string

The answer to this is to sit on the side of the plane relative to time of day and sun. Easy with Tenerife as it’s north-south. You just got an old 738. Just bad luck

Dont stress about the gate being announced. Its when you see people boarding is when you need to get your skates on otherwise youre just sat on a plane or a cramped bus unnecessarily for longer than you need to be

Hi Andrew/Laura duty free? should be renamed as holiday last ripoff purchases. ? 😂 Especially when you see we will match any internet deal online, that suggests to me that their products are overpriced so be careful to what you purchase from here.? I recently flew from Birmingham to Madeira, looking at purchasing a iPad. I could find it cheaper online, then I decided to purchased when I got back to the uk. Surely the stores know people will do the same,? what’s the point if it’s easier to send back if faulty when your not getting it cheaper.?
One of the reasons some planes don’t had window blinds is believe or not to save weight ! If you’ve ever flown on a 787 Dreamliner they don’t have window blinds either but they do have some technology that dims the window at a press of a button - I don’t know if that would help with the heat issue.
We agree Andrew Jet 2 aircraft are awful and we were shocked by what you were charged for the food in the airport however I'm sure Tandoori Hut made up for it we love it there welcome home both of you X
I very rarely hear people flying with jet 2 for the comfort of the seat, many other things though. I have never not had a blind on my many jet2 flights and the cabin temperature is controlled in the flight deck on thes older aircraft. So setting off many changes of the temperature makes you as popular with the pilots as if you had asked them for a midair change of destination... At least you know they are awake!
We go to Greg’s Andrew when we fly from Liverpool before we go through check in first though but it was not open when u fly this early got a very early flight home to Tenerife we never had one that early to there xxxxxx❤❤

Usually you can just ask for the service charge to be removed, have had to do this many times when service is inadequate.

The plane you were on was a Boeing 737-800 that is now 21 years old. Jet2 have an order with Airbus for 102 A321 over the next few years.

About 20 years old , good to point out that not all jet 2 aircraft are the same you will get sun visor pull downs in most of their other aircraft
I think funnily enough it was first owned by Ryanair who didn’t opt for window blinds when ordered

The neos have terrible seats too making it very uncomfortable and much less legroom compared to the rest of the fleet

Dont stress about the gate being announced. Its when you see people boarding is when you need to get your skates on otherwise youre just sat on a plane or a cramped bus unnecessarily for longer than you need to be
Love John Lennon Airport use Ryanair to fly to Ireland. I live nr Birmingham but its a huge Airport..that Duty free brinnnnngs bk not so good memory i knocked a very expensive purfume smashing it but thy didnt charge me .

Wow! I mean I love Jet2 but of course other opinions matter. As a few other comments say, there are no window blind, to reduce weight a little bit since its an older aircraft. I feel for ya being boiling hot on a flight lol. Hope you are having a lovely holiday in Florida. 😄

I recently flew from Birmingham to Madeira, looking at purchasing a iPad. I could find it cheaper online, then I decided to purchased when I got back to the uk.

One of the reasons some planes don’t had window blinds is believe or not to save weight !
If you’ve ever flown on a 787 Dreamliner they don’t have window blinds either but they do have some technology that dims the window at a press of a button - I don’t know if that would help with the heat issue.
We usually fly with Tui , comfortable but the planes are always dirty

We agree Andrew Jet 2 aircraft are awful and we were shocked by what you were charged for the food in the airport however I'm sure Tandoori Hut made up for it we love it there welcome home both of you X
Going around orphan happens is nothing strange, it’s when the airport says it traffic so you have to fly around for a bit and then come back.

I very rarely hear people flying with jet 2 for the comfort of the seat, many other things though. I have never not had a blind on my many jet2 flights and the cabin temperature is controlled in the flight deck on thes older aircraft. So setting off many changes of the temperature makes you as popular with the pilots as if you had asked them for a midair change of destination... At least you know they are awake!

We go to Greg’s Andrew when we fly from Liverpool before we go through check in first though but it was not open when u fly this early got a very early flight home to Tenerife we never had one that early to there xxxxxx❤❤

Jet2 are hit and miss, I've just flown out to Ibiza from Manchester on Ryanair and back with easyJet and had a fantastic flight with both, window shades included.
