Salomon was founded in 1947 in the city of Annecy in the heart of the French Alps. François Salomon launched the company by producing skis edges in a small workshop, with only his wife and son to help.
Landmark Salomon skis: the 1080 and the Axecleaver
Today, Salomon produces products for various sports markets, including trail running, hiking, climbing, adventure racing, skiing, and snowboarding[1][4] in over 40 countries on five continents. They used to manufacture inline skates, transferring technologies from their ski boot range, but have not released any in recent years.
Salomon's current CEO is Jean-Marc Pambet. Heikki Takala is the CEO of its mother group, Amer Sports, headquartered in Helsinki (Finland). The US operations of Salomon are located in Ogden, Utah.
The GORE-TEX membrane is part of the Gore family of consumer products and it is designed to provide superior performance in a wide range of applications. The GORE-TEX products employ a three-pronged defense to protect from weather conditions, ensuring extreme climate comfort: Waterproofness, Windproofness and Breathability.
The GORE-TEX membrane is an extremely thin layer of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) that has over 1.4 billion pores per square centimeter, bonded to an outer textile and, in many instances, a lining. It is durably waterproof and windproof, yet it is breathable. This means water from the outside doesn’t penetrate, cold wind doesn’t pass through, yet perspiration can escape.
As a GORE-TEX partner, we use this membrane primarily in the manufacture of our shoes, gloves, and in some of our clothing range including both jackets and pants.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE GORE-TEX PRODUCTS?
GORE-TEX Products technologies add several advantages to clothing and footwear:
Durable waterproofing: GORE-TEX membrane pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, making the membrane totally waterproof. This means the user is protected from the elements.
Breathability: GORE-TEX pores are also 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule, which allows perspiration to escape through the garment, especially during intense effort.
Windproofness: due to its structure, GORE-TEX membrane also protects from the wind and thereby limits wind chill (when cold wind blows through your garment, robbing your body of the warmth trapped next to your skin).
Combined with the right fabrics, GORE-TEX membrane makes lightweight, protective clothing finally available.

Thank you for the video, but what is Salomon doing about it? This junk is all over eBay. eBay has a system in place, the Vero Reporting Tool, for manufacturer's to use to protect their brands. I reported these counterfeits to Salomon well over a year ago and the Chinese rip-offs are still alive and well.

Darn those Chinese for making fake Speedcrosses and real ones.

Indeed. Note that this is a bad replica. There are even better replicas in the market.

I know you are just trying to be funny, but the fakes are really really bad. I bought fake ones (on eBAY) for $100 and they developed holes in the side after only about 3-4 uses. I bought them to replace a pair of real ones that lasted over two years. I definitely feel cheated

My speedcross 5’s have lasted nearly a year and I’ve worn them pretty much every day in all different terrains, no issues at all apart from minor scratches on the back
