Thank you Lamont. Ms Mahalia Jackson is the greatest gospel singer and a beautiful lady inside out. Whenever I'm listening to her my tears are rolling. She speaks to a person's soul. I love and admire her. ❤️
Mahalia was "The Voice." She remains unmatched right up today. Thank you Lamont for doing this episode on her life and times and her final place of rest. Your episodes are well researched and you really exude passion for all the personalities that you cover on your channel.

I just came across this and immediately clicked on it..This is POSITIVE AND BEAUTIFUL!! I HAD ALWAYS WONDERED WHO IS THE QUEEN OF GOSPEL.. The work you do is beautiful! I am from Arizona and had no idea until a year ago that Phoenix had its own Chitlin Circuit and it's own thriving Blues and Jazz music scene that was wiped out by urban development.. I would love to include this woman in my American musical studies and if she has surviving relatives I would love to interview them at some point! Thank you so much for the work that you do! Cultural heritage preservation work is NOT EASY and Freedmen, we are that one cultural group that has been so tough to keep reliable records for! Protection of the music and our other contributions has been difficult and unfortunately corrupted. She was so well dressed and talented! Sadly she is not talked about here in the Pacific Southwest or on my coast!
I found out she was my 5th cousin when I was a child, I happened to be singing one of her songs and my mom (grandma) told me she was her 3rd cousin. I felt closer to her every time I sung any of her songs. RIP

@@johnjerman3421 so, how did she “misexplain” it? If she considered her grandmother her mom, and MJ was her grandmother’s third Cousin (presumably because her grandmother’s grandmother; I.e. her mothers great-great grandmother was MJ’s 1st cousin) then the math is correct. What are we missing? 🧐

Can you imagine this lady cleaning your house? She is absolutely beautiful inside and out. I wish we had this kind of person in the music industry now. We need you back, Ms. Jackson.
Lamont....As you would do Faces In Death videos, @3:01, I noticed the crypt of Justin Wayne Weatherspoon Jr as he died aged 19 and was curious to know how he died. Upon Googling his name, he tragically was a victim of gun violence. The young man had hardly lived as I noticed that a number of people died young in this video, which always makes me grateful for the one true blessing of life that I absolutely treasure. As for the legendary lady Mahalia Jackson, I wish I could have met her to hear what she went through during her early years and how she inspired many a gospel singer. Her voice was truly remarkable and ageless. Many thanks for posting.
Thank you for this her story she had a beautiful GOD given voice, just wanted to share My Dad played her songs over and over the last week of his life in1997 her voice gave him comfort before he went home,. Last summer, when I was hovering between life and death, after a very serious surgery, someone (I have no idea who) played the great Mahalia singing "Precious Lord", my all time favorite Mahalia song... I thought I'd died but I'd actually come back to life cause I was weeping, the song moving my heart and spirit like nothing I've ever felt... I am well and alive to tell the story... thank You Lord and thank you Lamont for all you do... you don't realize it but you bring healing in many ways, by your storytelling and reminding us that at the end of the day, we need one another and we are under God's grace... much love...
