No, but since you keep posting this stuff as if it matters, I peeked. Thing is, WHY ARE YOU MAKING AN ISSUE THAT HE NEVER SAW THE MOVIE??? What, you trying to pretend he’s disrespectful to the filmmakers for not watching it?? Look, I know a LOT of actors and most of us feel the same. Nothing more awkward and uncomfortable than watching yourself on screen. It’s hard enough to go home after working and second guessing yourself and all the decisions you made in your performance, the one that’s in the can and you can’t take back, reshoot, nor have a do over. It’s done. The joy is in the MOMENT that you’re bringing your truth to imaginary circumstances, be it onstage or on camera. I just don’t get why you bothered posting this.

Defamation cases are hard to win despite the overwhelming evidence Heard is a b*tch. I think Depp is using this instead to get his story out and expose Heard whether he wins or loses.

The fact he's ONLY suing for $100 million shows how nice he's being about this. This RUINED his reputation and got him axed out of two of the BIGGEST movie franchises in history (Harry Potter and Pirates) he would have easily cleared half a BILLION reprising his roles in those movies.

This is not exactly uncommon amongst actors, there's quite a few who never watch anything they're in. You know that feeling of cringe you get when you listen back to a recording of your voice in horror at how bad you think you sound? It's probably that.
Or the fact that, in the end of the day, it's just their jobs, so they might come in, do what they need to do, get paid, go home, and they're like "Ok... Next."

I concur. I work in film, and I watch probably 10% of what I work on, because it's just a job. First few films and having the name in credits - yes, big deal, but it becomes the norm. You deplete sentimental attachment. Job gets repetitive. If you work on one picture, say, every 3 months on average for 20 years, it becomes a routine. And when off work, you don't want to be reminded of it. You choose the type of relaxation that distances you from your regular, and often stressful occupation.
I’ve done some minor acting, the only times I watch my own work is when it’s done and to see the final project and how we did, or years later for nastalgia

I honestly hope he’s victorious against her. After the first Pirates movie came out, my dad befriended a producer who happened to be working with JD on his next film. My dad told him I was a big fan and the friend offered to take a fan letter I had written directly to Depp. JD responded with an autographed picture and a letter of his own. I was raised to always thank people for gifts no matter what, so I sat down and wrote a thank you letter to him for the response and picture. My dads friend delivered it to Depp and a few days later he pulled my dad aside to give him a large envelope filled with autographed original prints of JD. He explained to my dad that Depp was surprised and touched to get the thank you letter because no one had ever taken their time to genuinely thank him before for gifts and autographs he sent out. Depp went home, got some photos he had from various movies he had done, signed them, and instructed the producer to give them to me. Depp wrote a letter that said, “They’re not worth much now, but in the future she can sell these to help pay for her college.” Well, Mr, Depp, I ended up not going to college because I ended up in a great career where it wasn’t required, but I still have those pictures and a great memory. I just don’t think someone who was touched by the thank you letter of a 10 year old girl could be as horrible as Heard claims he is.

I love seeing how easy it is for him to talk about acting when you can see him struggling to explain other things. He speaks very well about acting and shows how much of a passion he has for it.
Which is very very unfortunate that the douchebags at Disney fired him.
I was in the same situation with Depp. Due to her actions and not wanting to accept accountability, she instead decided to commit acts of abuse, make false accusations, kick me out my own house, left me homeless, it took a year to clear my name and 3 more years to divorce. The court sided with her every step of the way. She got my house and then abandoned it when she couldn't afford it or get another sucker to move in. All in all 100k cost to me, I've been ostracized at work except the few who know me well, my promotion opportunity dried up due to libel on her part. Unlike Depp, I cannot sue her, just have to accept what happened and rebuild. She has a new man to use, after having several during the process, I am forever scarred by the experience and have rejected women constantly after the fact. The wrong person in your life will cost you money and time. I can make up the former but never the latter.

Yes I was watching a interview with Johnny and Tim Burton and Johnny said he's not really all that interested in seeing his work after it's done. It's rather the process of making the film that he enjoys, so he's probably not lying here.

I have read many actors won't watch themselves on screen. They are too critical of themselves. And once they are done with a project they just move on to the next one.

I’m not an actor on Depp’s level, by any means. I’ve starred in some short films, and a full length film as well, but I also never watch my own films. You know it too well. There’s no point, you live it everyday, so why watch it after? Once it’s done, I’m relieved to be finished a project and able to carry on to the next one. I also just hate to watch myself act. I can watch myself do anything else on film, but acting? Nahhhh, no thanks, I’d rather just read the script than watch something with too much of me in it. It’s not like watching it, really, but you get the gist of it and watching it almost seems like a waste of time. Even though it’s much more impactful to actually watch it fully put together with the editing, music, etc.

I used to make mods and unofficial (pirate) servers of games, there's this one particular game called Tíbia, I spent almost 1 year editing my personal server with everything I wanted to... when it was finally ready to play I spent like half an hour on it and then never touched it again xD
My friends played on that server for months and I'd login rarely to fix a bug or two that they found out, or spawn an item/npc for whatever reason (like once the original npc wasn't working so I spawned another and it worked fine, so I deleted the original lol), but never actually played in it.
This is just how Johnny is. Whether it's anxiety or self-criticism, he's just not comfortable with seeing himself on screen, and that's fine. It's clear he still loves and cares for the characters he portrays. Especially Jack, whom he got tattoos in honor of. I believe he even has a son named Jack, which is very sweet.
He's a childhood hero of mine and I wish him nothing but the best going forward. He's going to win this, and his career is going to have a second renaissance. Can't wait to see him happy again.

Generally people tend to believe the women instead of the men but when proper evidence is provided, you have a court case where the lawyers try to make Johnny mad and cause an outburst

I like how he low key takes an opportunity in a dispute with his wife to explain why the last few Pirate movies weren’t all that enjoyable. The character of Jack is at his best when they give Depp freedom to react to the script in his own way on the fly. Last two Pirate movies very clearly had Jack intentionally written to do and say specific “Jack-ish” things, most with the objective of being comedic, but it just turned out with Jack looking like a jester instead of a drunken but secretly hyper intelligent swindler with a conscience.

I don't know if that is true. Maybe after he started getting better and major roles he stopped watching his own movies. He more likely stopped watching his movies because he became too critical of himself and I understand that. But I am sure he has watched some of his earlier work. Especially if it is your first role in a major film such as Nightmare on Elm Street as well as Edward Scissorhands literally putting him on the map.

tbh he is in over 60% of the scenes, did dozens/hundreds of takes, had to read all his lines and probably the script too (for context) or had the director explaining to him what the scene was about, he probably knows more about the movie than us lol

Ok, now I've got to say it. That is one of the CRAZIEST THINGS I've ever heard. I mean...'how the hell can he not have watched his own films'. I mean wouldn't he have at least watched them at the premier!? But if he just means in private then I would still be surprised because he did just such an AWESOME JOB on them. It’s always interesting to hear of actors that don’t watch their films & I can totally understand. I can see how it would be easy to be too critical of yourself for things most wouldn’t or affect the way you act for a character moving forward. Part of the craft for some not to it seems.

It's a bit more than that. You really can't suspend disbelief if you're part of a film. You can only see yourself and it's hard to disassociate like other people can with the content. So, watching yourself in film is sort of like that. It's not really entertaining. It's kind of like reliving a snapshot of yourself in that moment and you can probably even remember what you were thinking during the moments of the recordings. Pretty interesting experience.
I imagine it hurts the mindset of the actor: like a phone video-chatting another phone as they record each other, forming an image that breaks down into infinity...
Even in Depp's "worst" roles (like the Mad Hatter), you can't say he wasn't acting or he wasn't becoming someone else; he totally was. That consistency's worth keeping.
I am only a fly speck in comparison to the big guys, but i worked on a handful of European productions over ten years ago as writer and co-director and only ever saw two of them once. When you're that invested in the film all you can see is how it doesn't measure up to what you wanted to achieve and it's not an enjoyable experience. It's embarrassing more than anything else, even when other people are enjoying it. I'm not sure what Depp's experience is, but that's how it was for me.

I worked on two of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films. At one point, I happened to be standing next to Johnny when director Gore Verbinski played back a scene we had just shot so he could look it over. As soon as Johnny's voice came out over the speaker, Johnny clapped his hands over his ears and, in a loud voice, said, "Can we turn that down, please?" Then, I wouldn't say he ran off, but he did move away quickly. He doesn't like hearing himself acting.
I've heard several actors say that they don't watch the finished films. Robert Mitchum said he never say any of his films.

I think he was full of grace. Did not showed any signs of anger, nor violence in his words. When it got to the point of talking about “ Ms. Heard” he even went on to humanize her in a way that was so admirable ! He also spoke openly about his drug use and trauma in an open manner where he took responsibility at all times.
Overall, he is a soft, slow speaking, very mellow , laid back guy, who was not hiding and whom we got to know on a personal level a little bit more. Rooting for him!!!!!!

I had to love a person who used to live in small cabin i helped her in every way thought She had gone through worst there is noway we will ever be apart after giving her so much importance and love. Lol She was only their reviving her lost ego when she fed her ego enough She left with my only a week old son saying i can not have husband and son at a time i am young and want to enjoy my life. Everything was ok till i asked her “ you were young when i met you what happened that time why were you thinking that you should be dead” thats all, after that All of sudden her life was in danger i was threat to her and my ow son, She begun dragging me in court thank to that judge Who Did not let her abuse the system and dropped every case she filed against me. But i learnt to be patience after being cried alone in room i was helpless… was not worried about my bank account i was and still worried that “why my Son is suffering”

I've been a writer for some amount of time, and if there's one thing I learned early on? We may create characters, but we can only give them suggestions. You have to let that character live, even if it's merely in your own head, and just observe them.

i actually got to go to the first two pirates premieres and meet and greet with johnny both times. he left before both movies started. marilyn manson was also there (he is also a super cool guy) and he told us that he never watches any of his movies. johnny was such a stand up dude. he was so firendly and cool to everyone that met him those days. he went out of his way to take care of his fans.

Johnny never watched his own movies because he knows he's doing something right otherwise he wouldn't be as famous as he is, but he is also a very passionate human being so he knows if he watches his own movies he is afraid he will notice things he doesn't like or things he wants to change, and he doesn't want to have those thoughts in the back of his mind everytime he makes a new movie because it might screw up what everyone loves so much about his acting.

Some of the best memories i have from my childhood came from watching the movies and playing pirates with friends at school, everyone would always argue who got to be Sparrow. And none of that would have been possible without Depp. What an amazing actor and human, I hope he finally gets his well deserved peace after this trial.
