this video has been extremely helpful for me , breaking it down into simple shapes helps me to approach it differently now
Am I the only one that loves it when he says "that's good"? He is wonderful!
Me too !!!!!!
( no pun intended)
Excellent demonstration with the two best colours in any artist box. This includes any medium, including watercolour. This will really improve your tonal values. You can set a portrait up this way, then, at a later date, add colour if you want to. Thank you Yong Chen for your skill, knowledge and generosity.
This was a fantastic demonstration, thank you for making this video!

@Yongchen 10/9/24 Hello.Thank you for this video and your content. I have a question from the very beginning. Where can I find what you are using to get all 25 valued?
I have a android phone and I use rhe grayscale filter but it is not pixelated like this that you are showing in your video.
Thank you in advance for your reply.🙏
I used Adobe Photoshop to create the boxes of values.
So helpful. Going to work on this. Exactly what I needed to see.
Glad it was helpful!

Just wonderful! Thank you for teaching us 🤩
Wonderful video! Thank you for making that look so easy. When it gets dry can you add color glazes over it? Would that work? I have a hard time with values when I paint in color.
I’m going to try this exercise. Thanks!
I do wonder why you don’t just start with the darkest and keep lightening it as you go, or vice versa?
Great video. Very very useful I didn't see any other explanation so clear about painting with 2 colors. Thank you, teacher

Summary: Squint to see values. Can’t do this? Use an image editing software to posterize to reduce to 3 values.
