Hi there! My name is Jennifer. Over the last 15 years, I've gained much experience working in the medical field in various roles. Through my experience, I've seen many medical practice owners make mistakes in running their businesses. That's why I created this channel - to help medical practice owners avoid these common pitfalls. I aim to promote growth and success within the private practice world of medicine. Healthcare has become too standardized, creating many unnecessary challenges and demands.

Thank you. In studying for the CPCS it talks about accreditation standards NCQA, URAC, TJC, DNV, HFAP, CMS, AAAHC & verification time limits or board or MEC committee criteria for handling credentialing issues... and more..... There's a lot..... @@navigatingthebusinessofmed8251

As soon as I saw this topic come up again, I wanted to ask you about an aspect of this since you've been in the field longer than I have. I came to medical billing after sitting for the CPC and CCA and realizing billing was a GREAT fit and understanding coding and keeping that certification will be a great addition in my skill set. Billers have the AMBA and coders a couple of places for certification and CEUs and things. I've seen people in billing roles be groomed for credentialing specialist roles, but unless you're already in the administrative side of clinical practice, is there a well defined path for it? Just curious on your perspective since you have the privilege of being involved in the change of these fields for longer than I have. Thank you SO much for everything you create and share!!

Hi there! I hope you’re well. In my experience, and with knowing many credentialing specialists, it just kind of fell into many people’s laps and it was not something they see out specifically in healthcare. I know there are people that do and take courses and get certified but a lot of times people get experience by having to pick up the role in a practice in which they work and they learn on the job. I hope that answers your question! As always, thank you for your ongoing support and enthusiasm!

I love your postings. Quick question. In order to start credentialing/contracting process, does a provider need to have malpractice ready? or Can he/she add it later before the effective date?

Hi and thank you for watching and the question. Yes, insurances will require the Certificate of Insurance document proving active coverage.
