In this video, Cody gives us a quick comparison between both, the Akimbo and the Rope Runner Pro. Both are fantastic devices with each having their own unique features!
So how about the weight they show for the akimbo I already had a blue moon rope but it says the weight limit is 220 that seems light after u think about gear
it'd be nice to know why you climb mostly on the Akimbo.. Other than getting a suitable rope .. we're wondering what else it it has going for it. Is it ease if use? eg. less sit back, less side loading, more compactness, smoother release? And what of other devices?
I use both have the akimbo as backup and a hitch cord loop as backup always. I used everything. Rope runner feels best but has load of problems ,akimbo is what it is cant make it much better its genius but not best. I understand engineering That's what about the akimbo the designer deserves my money. Im working on a design of my own its smoother and beefier smaller then the rope runner and unlike the rope runner and akimbo or zigzag My srs design can be installed midline on a tight rope in emergency.when i have time Ill post it on channel "tool hunters" If you're working on pine trees another sappy trees mechanicals are the way to go. Love the zigzag Don't use it because it's not midline attachable , Also the unisender from rock exotica is good but it wears out so fast And it's not good in SRS great drs.
@@sensorpixel it's a good device, not ideal I think by design, pins can fall out, parts can fall of if You're switching the rope in the tree, your need tools to adjust it , when the rope gets wet or sticky from sap it starts acting different And you can't quickly adjust it, also the attachment hanger (The one you attached to) it's tiny much smaller than a accessory carabiner , I'm sure it's the weakest link in my entire climbing system , I don't feel comfortable with it. I'm planning to make my own beefier 1 out of stainless steel.

Keep up them reviews guys, we (or atleast I) appreciate them!
Nice to see a video thats pro akimbo.
How do you feel about the “freefall” that the akimbo does sometimes when there is no weight on the line?
Thanks Cody for the review.
I wish somebody would tell me what kind of saddle you're wearing
Thank you for the comparision reviews
Can you please do more
@@BartlettArboristSupply I like your posts as they always show new equipment

You didn't provide any information. "These are both great mechanical devices. They are kind of the same. This one is picky about rope diameter."
He can't, they sell both, can't be objective.

What are the "loads of problems" with the RopeRunner that you are referring to?

The RRP is pretty terrible with new Sterling HTP. If you’re going to buy Sterling rope for the RRP buy Sterling SYNC. Works great.
Well dang. I just got the rrp and my new line is htp. What is the issue I need to look for?
