On our recent trip to Northern California (this is before the California mandate on wearing mask is lifted), we wanted to experience how it is to ride the train to the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park instead of driving directly to the Roaring Camp. We parked our car in Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and did the 3 hour roundtrip. It was an interesting ride and my family had fun! More information from their website is below.

Departing from the Santa Cruz Mountains, travel through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, down the scenic San Lorenzo River Gorge, across a 1909 steel truss bridge and through an 1875 tunnel before arriving at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Reverse roundtrips departing from the beach in Santa Cruz to Roaring Camp and back may be purchased from the conductor on the train departing from Santa Cruz.
The Santa Cruz Big Trees & Pacific Railway operates passenger and freight services on one of the oldest and most historic lines in California. When the route opened in 1875 it carried lumber as well as picnickers and tourists to the Big Trees and Santa Cruz. Today’s Beach Train passengers can start their roundtrip journeys from either Roaring Camp in Felton or from the beach in Santa Cruz.
Departs from both the beach in Santa Cruz and Roaring Camp. See departure times for more information.
Please note that the 4:15 p.m. train leaving Santa Cruz is one way only. There is no return train to the beach.

Sweet ride. I liked the video so much I will plot this attraction for my next trip to California. Thank you for including the train schedule. I believe this route was part of a movie filmed in the 50s about small town life, the logging industry and a forest fire. The town's inhabitants escaped the fire on the train.

Also is this train and the roaring camp railroad both the same railroad?

    • @MamalibTV

I noticed that, too, but the traffic lights are working and before approaching the road, the train blows its horn really loud so I guess that’s how they control the traffic.

Yes, it’s one and the same railroad though this one originated from Santa Cruz Beach; there’s another train that travels through the Redwoods from the Roaring Camp.

Its a great train ride. Too bad theres so many sheeple living among us who actually believed masks made any kind of difference, though

Masks and distancing have kept many people alive. Else, they all would have died in 2020.
