Thanks for this valuable information and yes that's a sweet setup! I was just approved for VR&E; and I'm to get as much intel as possible to truly make the best of it.
Can you give the details on the items in your package? Like the brand of desk, monitors, etc? I'm approved for the program but they told me to buy my own equipment and I can apply for reimbursement. The package you got looks perfect for me I just need the names if it's not too much trouble to ask for.
I'm 100%P&T and VRE approved. I respectfully requested an ergonomic desk setup (Architecture program), and got shot down saying they "don't provide furniture" and to take it up with my health care provider. I sent a reply email asking for clarification since M28R does state that I may be entitled to ergonomic equipment, and I requested a copy of the documents used to make these determinations so that I may better advocate for myself. Aaand now I wait... she takes her full three business days to reply to every single email.
@@TutStore I'm still going back and forth with her. She shot me down a second time, BUT then asked for a copy of my syllabus saying that she may be able to consider it. I replied with a detailed explanation of why an ergonomic desk/chair setup would mitigate my service connected disabilities (in detail), along with links and prices of the specific equipment I am requesting. Now we wait for a reply.

@@TutStore Thankfully, I shouldn’t have to take that route. She finally replied yesterday and has since submitted two of my direct reimbursement forms. One for some supplies under $50 and one for a laptop under $2200. She said she was still looking into the desk, but asked if I could purchase myself and request reimbursement. She has since stopped saying “no furniture,” so that is promising.
I just got approved for up to $3500 for a laptop and $1000 for a camera since I'm going to film school. My counselor gave me a hard time, but being persistent, she submitted the paperwork.
I need help, even I got the letter of recommendation from OT and the VRC still denied my request saying the equipment on the letter is “recommendation/ not a prescription”. Do you have a template from OT how it should be written please?
wow awesome video man, VRE is taking a long time to get approve rn, but I will request a set up similar to yours once mine gets approve. Did you get to choose the exact chair and desk that you want? Or how did that went?
It depends on the VRC you have. I was sent a list and given the opportunity to say yes or no. But I took what he had on the list. I didn't want to be difficult, but was also really happy with what he was offering.
when it comes to book allowance, what does it exactly mean, does it mean text books or note books to write in , also is it paid like bah allowance where its sent to your bank account or its like a voucher that is issued to buy books at the book store?
I don’t know about other states, but in California, you can sign up with the state vocational rehab program in conjunction with the VA’s Ch. 31
Chapter 31 and vocrehab is the same thing

Update 2: I sent a follow-up email to my reply because I still have not heard back.

Solid! Persistence and professionalism go a long way in these applications.

I as refunded costs. So I provided a receipt to my VRC and get reimbursed. It's not the same $1,000 stipend that the GI Bill does.
How long did it take you to get approved for VR&E?
Can't remember exactly. Probably about 10 months.
