This is great! But I think you leave out two moments that I feel are very important, first is Pepper wearing the armor. I'd replace the dash to get the injector, with a stalling tactic to get Pepper away whilst she is wearing the armor. So similar moment as it exists in the film but with Savin instead of missiles causing the structural damage. The other moment is Tony being pinned under the water, I think that moment where he realises defeat in a visceral and almost mortal way is an integral character moment for Tony, especially if you make the scene more personal with Savin (as opposed to impersonal missiles). To be beaten by one Extremis man, despite all his suits, and his own ingenuity, and then pinned underwater by the crumbling edifice of his own ego? Thematic. And that's when Mk 42 comes back from Pepper, controlled by Jarvis to rescue Tony, form around him and carry him unconscious to Tennessee as exists in the film.

Holy shit, you replied. I agree with you though, the continuity errors it would’ve created alone were good enough reasons to make it non-canon. It sure was fun though.
Yes. Great. Love it. Savin might have to do a little damage to the mk 42 to justify Tony not just flying up out of reach and blasting him to bits, but wow, that was so engaging.
+Michael and Benjamin's Podcast agreed. In the comic, you can't stop him with anything but a unibeam blast, so maybe Tony gives him a regular repulsor blast and leaves assuming he finished the job.
One big thing that bugged me about this film is that at the end Tony removed the arc reactor and the shrapnel which to me unless I missed something makes a key plot point of Iron Man 2 pointless. In the second film Tony creates a new element to power the arc reactor because the one he was using was killing him. If be could just get it removed why didn't he? Maybe there was a line that was cut that mentioned surgery techniques had advanced but he didn't want to remove the arc reactor. I do like this idea for the film but Hollywood likes the big spectacles at the end so that's why the suits didn't show up till the end. I do feel bad for concept artists. They must know that some if not alot of their work will make it on screen. That being said I did enjoy this film and yes Sam Rockwell is underrated.
The guy who removed his arc reactor was a cutting edge scientist which Yinsen introduced to him at the party in the opening scene of IM3. The movie is trying to make the connection that he remembered him only because Maya Hansen and Aldrich Killian was the demons who haunted him in IM3 which was also in the opening scene.
I saw this around a year ago but as I rewatch all of the movies with my daughter (who was born in 2008) prior to seeing Endgame, I appreciate this more. Bravo.
+Andrew Roberts I realized this the other day. There is way too much going on but it works because the characters are all so much fun. Obviously RDJ is amazing. Mickey Rourke is doing his thing. We get the introduction to Don Cheadle's Rodhey and Scarlett's Widow, who are both great. There is more Nick Fury and Coulson. And then of course we have the now Golden Globe winning Sam Rockwell as my favorite bad MCU villain to date. He's just such a fun character.
Oh my. That was your best re-write to date and vastly improves Iron Man 3 and Tony Stark's treatment therein. I wish Marvel/Disney would hire you as a script consultant. Brilliant!
Your videos are really awesome since it makes me think about my favorite movies in a whole new way! I really love how you integrate existing characters into the story to maintain the overall plot, and how all of your suggestions make logical sense. Also I love how you trade uploading often for original and high quality content. Keep it up!
You are too smart making every part of movies useable. You should seriously make your own content where you tell us a story or something. Maybe even blow our minds with the small details.
*Directors of movies nowadays forget that the fight scenes are supposed to in themselves tell part of the story.* They instead turn off their brains and have the audience turn off ours. The most memorable movies have action scenes that _mean_ something; that _tell a tale_ (or, at least, tell part of the larger tale). _Logan. The Empire Strikes Back. The Lion King. Zootopia. Batman Begins._ Even from Marvel, there's _Avengers 1_ and _Homecoming_ and _Iron Man 1._ I'm sure you can read each title and think of a very specific action scene or sequence that stuck out to you for its narrative beats.
There are arguably even more viewers who refuse the idea that fight scenes are supposed to tell a story and mean something. I've come across a number of people who insist that fight scenes only need to look cool, and should just forget about trying to mean something. Back when I was still into RWBY the webseries by Roosterteeth, I was making the argument to so many in the community that RT needs to focus on narratively significant fights rather than going with the Rule of Cool running the scene. You would not believe how many people totally opposed this notion of mind, as if it was some controversial idea. I basically told them that if the fights being cool was all they cared about, then why even bother with the story at all? Why bother with even making or watching any of the scenes in between the fights? If the fights being cool was all that mattered, then the series would have been better off as a weekly versus battle series, rather than trying to be a fully-fledged western anime. And with how much south the show ended up going, I do think it would have been better if RT just made RWBY a weekly battle series rather than a full show, because the combat was clearly what they were most interested in, at least at first. Same with these movie fight scenes. If all that matters is that the fights look cool, and not that they mean something to the larger narrative, then no one would ever even bother watching the full movie. It would only be the fight scenes that anyone cares about. The two hour runtime would be a waste of time and money. The studios would be wasting time and money crafting the entire movie when they only have to make a couple of fight scenes and people would just go in to watch those for 30 minutes to get their fill of violence and that's it. But no, clearly people DO care about the larger narrative, otherwise they wouldn't stick around for the rest of the movie. Even the people who insist the fight scenes only need to look cool care about it.
Dude I can not agree more. IronMan 3 was a good movie but I think that seeing the new suits that were introduced should have been showed a lot more. Your videos are amazing dude keep it up.
Yet again, another amazing take on alternate story writing. I'm slowly making my way through your catalogue and I'm yet to find a video that doesn't at least make me think "oh yeah that's cooler."
Binge watching these videos and wondering how this guy doesn’t get a script dropped in front of him at a Disney studio. Like he legit has made the concept of characters and plot lines so much better. T’challa: Get this man a director’s chair

that opening 30 seconds pretty much summarizes how I feel about the Iron Man movies entirely, and it's good to hear someone who I can finally agree with
Hey, Nando! I've been a subscriber of yours about a year now and I have to say that you nailed another imaginative rewrite of the screenplay. As I was watching and listening to your commentary, I was severely dissapoined with the loss of true potential this movie could've had. The intricate description of the internal and external conflict captivated me so much that I thought the movie wad actually like that. Props to you man!
Thanks Luke. I remember the first time I saw this movie I felt like it was missing something and it took me forever to figure out what it was. Then I read the Extremis comic and it's so clear. And thanks for subscribing for so long. I feel like 97 percent of the subscribers showed up in the last few months (which is still great) but it's always cool to hear from someone who has been here for a while.
+Luke Bennet not really. I watch a lot of video essays and have read one or two screenwriting books. When I went to school I took a few theater type classes but none too focused on writing. A lot of it just absorbed from just listening to reviewers and writer talk.
Nando v Movies That's pretty much what I do; and thanks to you in part. For example, I've been able to judge the pacing of the acts if a film based on what acts are: 1st act sets up the problem, 2nd act tries to find a solution the problem, and the 3rd act is the resolution. And I recently saw 'The Death Cure' which was pretty good over all, but the second act dragged a bit in giving a bit too much exposition.
I agree with everything you just said - except giving Saven fire-breath. That should be saved just for the big boss. Still, as always, your concept makes for a much better scene, and movie over all. Well done. Shame, really. would've liked to see it.
The biggest problem with Iron Man 3 is - it's as though Disney gave Iron Man 2 & 3 a shared budget, and they spent it all on Iron Man 2. Tony was Regular Man in Iron Man 3 for two reasons - no budget, and RDJ hating to wear the suit.
This is an amazing idea man. I'm a big fan of that scene that you came up with. I actually laughed out loud at how the fire extinguisher robot ends up saving the day, that's a fantastic idea!
Your version is so much better, I'd have even forgiven Trevor had this one sequence change happened. Seriously, write scripts and sell them to Disney, before the house of mouse derails the MCU.
I simply don't understand how I never watched this one until now. Much like your Iron Giant/Ready Player One video, this video is absolutely perfect. If I had a nitpick I'd say give Savin (or however you spell his name) the ability to shoot untable fire at short range out of his hands, maybe it hurts him, or he has to focus to bring the energy back under control so he doesnt explode, so he cant just keep doing it, and save the fire breath for Killian, so we get to keep Rhodie's "okay, he breathes fire" moment.
Holy Cow man these videos are sick.... I love the MCU and the baby DCU or whatever they are trying to do... and it is awesome to see someone who is knowledgeable on specific comic and movie details explain some of the more convoluted elements of the movies and comics... KEEP IT UP PLEASE
+Eddie Ryan it's insane. And in the comics he makes all kinds of forcefields and stuff like that. You'd think by now he would have something like that.
I didn't realize how insignificant the chopper scene was until now. Can you reimagine IM3 with Ben Kingsley remaining the Mandarin for us? I always wanted this film to contain the true Extremis Armor. After seeing this and thinking about it, a Tony Stark w armor that is part of him like Extremis simply wouldn't work for the mcu at large.
+Upside Down Watermelon oh yeah. I really like the Paul Rudd/Michael Douglas relationship. Also Walton Goggins can be insanely funny. And I don't know much about the actress that plays Ghost but she is in everything this year so she should also be pretty good. It's at the bottom of my list for Marvel this year but I am still very excited.
That sad moment when you're a writer and then a channel like this comes along with consistently amazing ideas and changes that would improve films and even franchises (I'm talking his DC videos).
You have been killing it lately with amazing videos like "The Extremis Opportunity", "The Bizarro Solution" and "Saving Captain Boomerang". keep up the great work! :)
I wish there was a way to remake the movies in the way you describe them, the ideas you create really do clarify every aspect that is needed to really display the message of the movies.
“Paranoid nutcase”? He has PTSD. He’s having panic attacks. Your phrasing, particularly the use of ‘nutcase,’ ignores that and contributes to the stigma around mental illness.
I disagree. These words were specifically chosen to illustrate the context of the point Nando tries to convey to the viewer. Ripping words and quotes out of this specific context is just slander. There is no point in this video where PTSD is relevant to the moviemaking perspective. There are plenty videos on youtube which detail Tonys spiral and recovery, though. You will find your share.
Hunterfalke it’s the truth through this happens a year after avengers 1 of course tony is at his weakest moment so calling him a nutcase is messed up it was better then if he used Tony PTSD to help move the story along and why he acts the he does.
Great fix for Ironman 3, but I have one slight change. Don't let the joke robot from the first movie save Tony, as great a callback as that is. Let Rescue save him. Female super heroes have been severely lacking in the MCU and I expected Rescue to show up in Ironman 2. This could correct that mistake. Part of Tony's flawed worldview (that your brilliant scene fix demonstrates really well) is an assumption of self-reliance. He solved the problems in the first movie on his own. But then he solved the problems of the second movie with War Machine, forever cementing Rhody as his teammate. Let Pepper get a moment. Part of the reason the actress left the movies for awhile was because their portrayal of her character was weak. This could be an opportunity to fix that. Love the idea overall though. Keep em coming!
No. Rescue comes in at the end, instead of Tanktop Extremis (but only the good parts) Pepper. Hell, have the armor design include bleeding edge medical tech, hence the name. It can even be what saves her from the unstable Extremis, rather than just the plot convenience of her getting a level in badass out of nowhere.
How is giving a main character something to do "ruining the story"? I'm sorry if you only want men to have goals and development in your movies. I like it when all main characters have a purpose other than being a mcguffin.
You make the greatest points on how these movies couldve improved. I enjoyed Iron Man 3, out of the trilogy its 2nd liked for me, but when you pointed out that scene it made me wonder exactly what you said. The way you changed it sounded like a very cinematic and enjoyable moment for the movie to have, and to change up the way Tony had to do things with just one suit again

+HazardMan 117 I remember that one. It had the dumbest looking MODOK I have ever seen. And I love MODOK. Thank God that game isn't canon.
Holy shit, you replied. I agree with you though, the continuity errors it would’ve created alone were good enough reasons to make it non-canon. It sure was fun though.
dummy was actually my favorite Iron Man trilogy character, so that scene that you mentioned him made my day way more happy
Marvel Really needs to Hire this guy as a writer/editor
Ironman 3 is one of my favorite MCU movies and im totally agree with your version
One glaring question: Why hasn't marvel hired you yet?
dude your videos really gets my imagination up and running
Yes. Great.
Another bullseye Nando, your insights are always impressive and compelling.
I love that idea better. I’m writing stories myself and I love the ideas you have. Something I can learn from.
I just found myself applauding with the fire extinguisher bit and had to hear it again. That was amazing.
My theory is that Tony used some of the Extremis tech to survive the surgery.
NOOOO I WAS SO READY FOR THE REST OF THE MOVIE TO BE REWRITTEN!!! THIS WAS SO GREAT!
but explosion...
lol. Nice vid. Looking forward to the next one.
There could have been big explosions when Iron Man escapes his collapsing mansion
I saw this around a year ago but as I rewatch all of the movies with my daughter (who was born in 2008) prior to seeing Endgame, I appreciate this more. Bravo.
IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO ENJOYS IRON MAN 2
+Andrew Roberts I realized this the other day.
Keep it up!
+Dylan Singh thanks!
LOVE it, especially the bit involving dummy, he's a "character" that never really gets a chance to shine
I love this channel bro keep up the good work
You are too smart making every part of movies useable. You should seriously make your own content where you tell us a story or something. Maybe even blow our minds with the small details.
I cannot tell if this is snarky sarcasm or genuine creative support...
Either way, I agree.
Just found your channel and quite frankly it's amazing. Great work.
Thanks!
Zootopia. Batman Begins._ Even from Marvel, there's _Avengers 1_ and _Homecoming_ and _Iron Man 1._
I'm sure you can read each title and think of a very specific action scene or sequence that stuck out to you for its narrative beats.
... can you please explain why Zootopia is on that list because I am sooooo intrigued
Dude, I really like your channel and your theories! I will be contributing to your Patreon!
+Brandon Kizart-Haynes thanks!
Yet again, another amazing take on alternate story writing. I'm slowly making my way through your catalogue and I'm yet to find a video that doesn't at least make me think "oh yeah that's cooler."
The ideas you have a really just brilliant. Subbed already and I hope this channel gets even bigger 🔥🔥
I think IM3 is one of the best MCU movies but I love your idea so much. I'm thoroughly enjoying this channel
Binge watching these videos and wondering how this guy doesn’t get a script dropped in front of him at a Disney studio. Like he legit has made the concept of characters and plot lines so much better.
T’challa: Get this man a director’s chair
Thanks! They haven't called. Spread the word and maybe they'll find me. I have so many ideas for an Ant-Man sequel.
I love your rethinkings on the movies. They are just as thoughtful as the angles i would take. And honestly way more interesting and important than tge actual movie we got.
I keep agreeing with you on video after video. Makes me kinda bummed that its too late for the great ideas you are suggesting.
You really know your stuff. Impressive.
that opening 30 seconds pretty much summarizes how I feel about the Iron Man movies entirely, and it's good to hear someone who I can finally agree with
Nando v Movies Yeah, no problem! If you don't mind me asking; have you ever taken classes for screenwriting? Because your pitches seem sophisticated.
And there were just a few too many dull moments but then the 3rd act picked up in pace very quickly.
That moment with dummy is a work of script genius, love it
YES I LOVE THIS CHANNEL
9:20 yes, standing ovation! Dummy deserved this redemption :)
Love all your videos and ideas, man! Keep up the good work.
I agree with everything you just said - except giving Saven fire-breath. That should be saved just for the big boss.
Still, as always, your concept makes for a much better scene, and movie over all. Well done.
Shame, really. would've liked to see it.
I like what you did here . That would have made me like iron man 3
nice reimagining
once again you made a great rendition of my favorite charater AMAZING!!!!
Marvel should totally hire you as a consultant!
While I would miss the Tony/Pepper interactions from the original scene, this is like, vastly superior to the canon version. Great work!
I think they should have used either the Mandarin or the Extremis soldiers, not both in the same movie.
+James McTrollington completely agree
I love how you can reimagine scenes to make the overall movie better.
Dude you have some really good ideas. Do you make any films of your own?
Nope. Just this for now.
@@NandovMovies And now? You got some serious talent bro.
Holy Cow man these videos are sick.... I love the MCU and the baby DCU or whatever they are trying to do... and it is awesome to see someone who is knowledgeable on specific comic and movie details explain some of the more convoluted elements of the movies and comics... KEEP IT UP PLEASE
You'd think a simple missile wouldn't be able to touch TONY STARKS FUCKING HOUSE
+Eddie Ryan it's insane. And in the comics he makes all kinds of forcefields and stuff like that. You'd think by now he would have something like that.
Nando v Movies The irony is his company probably made the fucking missile 😂😂
Don’t you just get that good feeling when a new Nando v Movies video comes out like he’s such a pro
That was so good.
Seriously, all of your ideas for these Superhero movies are fantastic! I want to see this version so badly now! Fantastic idea
Marvel needs to hire you!
Nando: Why send the helicopters? Why not send-
Mandarin: I'm Savin him for later.
Hire this man
I'm so glad that I found your channel because you have a great nack at find what can fill the void in this "it was good buuuttt..." moments.
how can 30 futuristic mini-nuclear reactor powered suits be running low on battery
you crafted a much more engaging scene that told a much better story of Tony's journey and development. thank you for sharing your work with us.
This is also great because it also makes Tony's one-on-one fight with Savin on the airplane a lot more personal.
Great video
+Arnie Nelson thanks!
This is quickly becoming my favorite movie deconstruction channel. Great job!
Are you excited for ant man and the wasp?
+Upside Down Watermelon oh yeah. I really like the Paul Rudd/Michael Douglas relationship. Also Walton Goggins can be insanely funny. And I don't know much about the actress that plays Ghost but she is in everything this year so she should also be pretty good. It's at the bottom of my list for Marvel this year but I am still very excited.
That sad moment when you're a writer and then a channel like this comes along with consistently amazing ideas and changes that would improve films and even franchises (I'm talking his DC videos).
Did you make this because of the MCU rewatch lol
You have been killing it lately with amazing videos like "The Extremis Opportunity", "The Bizarro Solution" and "Saving Captain Boomerang". keep up the great work! :)
Anyone else see his question on Mr Sunday's video?
No, what was it?
Telsion Antman has an antvan
Yes I did.
This is my new favorite RUclips channel
I really didn't like Iron Man 3, if they went with these ideas I would have liked it a lot more.
Your alternate takes on movies are amazing, especially this one. I hope people at Marvel notice you. Great work!
It can even be what saves her from the unstable Extremis, rather than just the plot convenience of her getting a level in badass out of nowhere.
muh diversity
Sulphurous annoying.
Ruin the story for the sake of a strong independent woman.....wow now It does sounds like Disney movie! :)
That was Great! Loved the "Dummy" scene! And yes Bizarro makes the most sense since many times he was re-imagined as a Luthor construct.
OK, you just gained another subscriber, even though I'm more of an old school paper and dice gamer than a comic book fan. Your videos remind me of sitting in the living room with a couple of my friends, who ARE big comic book and movie fans, coming up with movie ideas/fixes and gaming scenarios. Yours are more polished and thought out, and I appreciate that.
