+Carlosrvm1990 Yeah, stick with the trailer; it's phenomenal. It's not representative of the actual game at all though. I did have some fun with the game, flaws and all, but it's not the game this trailer is selling. It's just mindless zombie smashing, no heart at all.
that's because you're all pathetic manchildren this jank shit trailer is full of continuity errors and is just an obvious cheaply thrown together desperate emotion grab pathetic
This is still so effective. The contrast between the silent, slow motion backwards story that shows you every detail, and the fully audible, forwards story that only conveys shadowy panic and horror. And there's just something compelling about that moment when both stories converge. It's inevitable; you already know what's happened and what will happen, but there's this moment in between, where the relief of daughter being rescued (forwards) mingles with the surrender of the daughter to a fate that claimed her all along (backwards), and I don't know why it gets to me so much. Something about that instant of hope, surrounded by doom on all sides, existing in spite of it, for only a heartbeat.
Also the fact that the scene ends with the backwards, slow-motion timeline (after the real horror has already happened and its reminding you that they are basically already all dead). Such a powerful tragedy.
Even nine years later, this is still one of the best video game trailers I’ve seen. In fact, considering the game that ended up being, this trailer had no right to be as good as it is.
