- In this video I show how I boil my cannonballs in wax. This is the same method that I use in preserving all of my found iron. I give some excellent tips and some dire warnings. I hope you enjoy!

You're the only dude who I'll ever watch waxing his balls. Fair play to you!
Clever
+Harry Ireland lmaooo
Neato. Way better than anything on TV, learned more here too. Thanks for these videos. Appreciated!
Thanks for this vid, Aquachigger! You have probably mentioned in previous posts that it is important to not heat the wax too much so as not to reach the wax's flashpoint, but for those who haven't seen them, be careful to NOT heat the wax above 300 degrees(F)!!!! The flashpoint (at which the wax will ignite) varies depending on what type it is, but 300 should be safe for most. Thanks again, love your vids Beau (from a candlemaker who is just starting metal detecting).
I'm relatively new to your channel, and it amazes me that you can keep putting out videos like this that show me stuff I've never seen before, and on top of that you break it down and explain everything. Very interesting stuff!
Hi Beau. I found this video to be informative, and even a touch relaxing. You do a really good job with your content. I always look forward to tuning in to see what adventures you go on next. Spring weather will soon be here. Take care, and keep the adventures coming.
Beau, Thanks for doing this for us new people! I'll try to find the original vids you posted on the subject. Really interesting. Learned a lot.
When are you going to Europe?!!!! Deep Digger Dan spilled the beans and I am sooooo excited to see the videos from your trip!
+downtonviewer I cant wait to see there Vids..
Very interesting big thanks
Very educational! Nice to see history being saved like this!!
Thanks, Beau love seeing all that history laying there.
Love the videos. Looks like you, Chill Bill and Deep Digger Dan had a ball...I'm so jealous! I started watching Dans' videos, and then it snowballed in to everyone else's videos. I just started detecting about 2 years ago, but have had to put it on hold for physical reasons. So, I live vicariously through you guys. You have the perfect spot...again, so jealous! Keep the videos coming, so I don't go out of my mind up in Massachusetts.
Thanks for the video Beau. You have a way of transporting your viewers back to the civil war. I can almost hear the cannon and rifle fire while watching your videos. Like you said I can smell the tar of the exploding rounds. Those guys who fought then would never have imagined that the war would be brought back to life and relived this way. Thanks for all you do to let us appreciate those times and not to forget....
I love learning this stuff. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Love watching the process, Thanks Chigg.
Thanks for these vids. I find preservation processes very interesting.
love your hammer I have one just like it I made in high school 1976 . finely got out last weekend for my first hunt of the year. hope to see some new river videos soon when the water warms up.
Very interesting. What a collection. Very neat process.
Great video ... Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for the lesson. very interesting.
Good work Beau!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I did laugh at the title though 😂
+TheDragonslayer78 It's not the first time Beau showed us how he cleans his big balls.
Really Cool Vid Aqua I Hope you make more!!...
"They are really hot to touch right know" - doesn't stop touching them :D
Interesting video Beau.
In the next video if you could also show the cleaning of the shells that would be awesome! Thanks Chigg!
I'd love to see more prepping shells and other stuff for display.

Aquachigger's house of Wax!
Great Video Beau!!
Great video Beau
Great video Chigg! Working on some axe heads now using your method.
I like it.....A lot! Thanks!
Love your videos
Beau...Thanks for the in depth repeat of the cooking process. If I could offer one bit of advise that I also adhere to, (I mess around with wax, cooking oil, and sometimes molten lead),...please wear some eye protection, very important. Too bad you can't have a contest of some sort to give away some small test pieces of pitch/resin so we can light it at home to smell what it smelled like during war times. Or else I have to find my own shell...
“Waxing Balls”! 💕😂🤣😂🤣💕 Sorry I have a dirty mind! 😜
hmmm aquachigger... the title of this video could be misleading lolol
+Grommy Lommy LMFAO
great video thanks
Beau you should do some more river hunting videos, or magnet fishing, or metal detecting in water... Those videos are really entertaining, you deserve more subs :D
+Caleb Ashenbrener Cool video by the way
Another awesome video. Can't wait to see the ones with Deep Digger Dan, the two Kings of metal Detecting, together.............That's pay-per-view quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very interesting video I had no idea

LIGHTNING MC QUEEN THATS THE VOICE YOU REMIND ME OF
Funny title. Great info
Very interesting Thank You
Cool little hammer! I believe its got screwdrivers in the handle you just keep twisting it apart and it has a smaller one inside each one like the old nesting dolls
Wish I could go hunt with you, great looking relics
Ive learned so much from you and your videos... Just purchased a Garrett Ace 300i and i cant wait to get out to sime war of 1812 sights here in ontario canada. Im curious if you have any information on what the possible finds might be to really look out for?
1 million subscribers! Woo!!
You ever make a video of drilling into shells? I'd love to see that.
Love these videos. Can you do another river walk when the leaves come around?
When are you gonne do a tour of your relic room :D
Never
I think nobody ever looked at a blob of antique tar and went "isn't that beeeeeeeeeautiful?" :P
That is so cool. What a collection you have there. What do you do with all of them? Do you just collect them or sell them?
I have a question. I have found a Confederate armory lock with the original key. Its really rusty and I'm thinking of using electrolysis to get rid of the rust, and then waxing the lock to protect it. But, I want to be able to use the key to open it when I'm showing it and don't want to fill the lock with wax while its in the tub..What can I do to prevent the lock from filling with wax? Thanks for your help, love the videos
nice video beau! I nearly have enough money to buy the Garrett AT Pro! !!
Its a good thing you don't have close neighbors. They be like what is he cooking. Yea cool video
I can't help but think if you could pull a vacuum on your pot you could force the wax into any voids in the iron and do it at a lower temp. Just a thought.
I've been told that the expansion rate from water to steam is 1 t0 17. Steam takes up 17 times more space than liquid water.
Beautiful!
Have you posted a video of the clean up process leading up to the waxing before? I can't remember seeing it if you have.
+kentuckycowboy2 Yes he has
Hi beau , just watched your little video from when you came to the uk . You found some nice stuff well done would love to come to Virginia and find some civil war goodies .. Keep up the great videos and good hunting ... Lee
That’s the way tin and other metals in bad lead does when I melt lead. The lead goes to the bottom and the rest floats to the top. I take a old spoon and get it out to.
very interesting
cool video , thanks :)
you should make a video on how to drill out Civil War artillery shells
Beau makes coffe for everyone :) just kidding , great video.
GDAY good one I like that very much
I noticed that ball you were talking about had also a very small hole it the side, now I have a 42 pounder also with a small hole in the side and the best I could do to see what was inside it was see how far a incense would go in it and it went to the other side about 7 inches. At this point I would think it was safe and I do not plan on putting a drill to it or in the fire but would they load this up with black powder and would the hole also be a fuse hole of some kind.
Question, where did you begin to learn about all of this? I would really like to know more than I do and probably do this someday. Thanks!
+Aquachigger Great videos been hooked since i randomly came across a one of your metal detecting videos. will you be doing a video on the different types of shells that you find, i have noticed all different shapes and sizes of shells, could you possible explain which shell was used for certain situations. Thank You
When you were chipping the shell I thought I heard you say, "Maxwell". LOL
+Charles Wilson Peale I heard it too. I'm sure it was a reference to the Beatle's song.
robertintexas Yes, I agree. After all, he did say a silver hammer.
Please do a video of all the Sword and belt plates and cartage box plates you have found over the years. Thanks
Here's what I do to stop oxidation but retain patina: heat the objects in a toaster oven until you're sure they're purged of water. Let them cool off just until they're warm enough to handle. Dunk them in Gardz (an almost clear acrylic drywall sealer by Zinsser). Soak for a minute or so & blot with a towel to recover the original finish. After drying, there's no residue and the object is sealed. An old painter's trick...
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
That looks delicious :)
Can u make a how to preserve cannon ball fragment
Nice
Yup watched you do this before but for some reason the water and time in the wax stuck with me this time.
Well I figured this would be a neat idea for guys like myself who are interested in oddities from the civil war but, ever though about putting the tar/pitch in small sand viles or a small container of some kind and selling them to a few folks like myself? I like to collect necklaces of different things and I though it would be a neat idea.
It's just a thought, but I wonder if that tar could be press formed into different shapes of the time period.
Cool vid bud, thanks. I liked the comment "gotta go, the wife's home". Lol, yeah... Only us married guys get it! HH man
Would it be easier once the hole is drilled that you can use a wire hook suspended to ensure the balls are upright?
Aquachigger, I see a lot of people that use lacquer to protect their relics. I'd imagine it's more permanent but can chip and isn't as easily repairable as wax. What is your opinion on using lacquer?
the tongs that you use, what were those originally used for or the intended use.
your the best
You get to do cool stuff! Do you have a guest house? How much is weekly rate. I'll bring my own balogna. I'm disabled and won't miss out on anything here except grass growing.
I thought you were gunna say "mmm smells like ass" 😂
Taylor McCrory ur a pervert... Do I know u
