There is a nice breeze to help with the heat. There are a lot of areas that aren’t that affected by the hurricanes in Sarasota county. We would like to move there next year BUT the high cost of living there is a big problem. I just read that a large insurance company is raising premiums by 700 dollars. As a retiree that’s devastating. I do enjoy your videos, lots of good information.

I would love to live in Sarasota! Imagine waking up and finding you living room flooded with 4 foot deep water and a pontoon in your front yard. So exciting.

I’ll be there next year during Hurricane season. Can’t wait to see one!

We don't have hurricanes every year. We might get lucky and not have one for years!

Florida would be near the bottom of my list of states to move to.

from CT. - moved here because my kids moved here. Am a resident, but also kept our CT home which we will likely sell in the near future. Never thought I would like FL, but wanted to be near my kids, especially because they both just got married. We live in Lakewood Ranch and we were pleasantly surprised and love both Lakewood and Sarasota

So glad you are happy in Lakewood Ranch. Being close to family is extremely important when it comes to choosing a place to live. Thanks for watching.

I really appreciate you watching but the 4 buyers that I just helped purchase homes from out of state tell me that people are still moving to Sarasota.

They are moving to Sarasota because they want to be with you.

No way I'd live in Florida. Too expensive with property taxes and car/home insurance, crazy bad drivers, over crowded and hot/humid weather. And there's always "Florida Man" ...which is a real thing. You can have it.

Yeah we just bugged out. Found a sucker to over pay for my shitty little old house. Moved north, paid off all debt. Wow, I have to wear a sweater for a few months. Better than 9 months of oppressive deadly heat.

How is the recovery going in areas like Siesta, Lido and St. Armands? We had really hoped to visit this Spring, but were told it will be some time before these areas are ready for visitors again.

I would highly recommend you come and visit this Spring. Many, many business are already open and back to business and encouraging visitors. And by Spring there will be a lot accomplished.

Ok ; No way only 10,000 people a year are moving to that area. Your area is very crowded.
The one thing that I have always admire about Sarasota was that your downtown started with a clean slate. Your neighbors like Tampa and St petersburg have that ( after thought) feel. They don't feel unified because they were started decades ago and have simply been adding on pieces to older designs.
Also helps that Sarasota is the only downtown that doesn't have a massive high way going right through it.

To clarify that is 10,000 in Sarasota County. There is actually another 7,000 in Manatee County so that is why it seems to be growing so much.

You better make certain you love intense heat and humidity for most of the year. It was not for me.

Yes, it can get hot. For me it is the heat this time of year when I am ready for 70 degree days.

We will be relocating to SRQ in about two years when I retire. What scares me most about moving here is the amount of people that have done so before us. We vacation on the barrier islands every February and its alarming how bad traffic has become in the last 20 years. This is the biggest fear we have. What used to take 15 minutes now takes upwards of an hour. Getting off the Islands is practically impossible now most times. The secret is out and that may make us look elsewhere.

This is very different “off season” so before crossing it off the list I would recommend visiting during the late Spring or Fall. You can get on and off keys very easily.

Are you a liar? 10,000 people every year? Your population is only about 50,000 total. So last year it was 40,000? The year before was 30,000? Come on lady!

    • @LivingInSarasota

10,000 for Sarasota County. The population of 50,000 is Sarasota city limits. If you would like to research those facts further please check out the Sarasota County website. Thanks so much for watching.
