As of now: I have cycled through over a DOZEN thumbnails, "Worse Than Unity" performs 20%-40% better, with the self destruct and queue free at 30% 30% and worse than unity at 40% CTR to watch time (it's not exactly clickthrough rate but also the amount of time watched as a result of a higher CTR) People would rather click the video with the thumbnail bashing Unity than including a funny programming reference, I wish I could have just put those functions in as the main thumbnail for views :(

What do you expect? Every aspect of this engine are developed by an individual that can and will do whatever they like cuz there's no actual management happening. On a big company, there will be a management or someone who's in charge of basically anything and what to do. Clownish behavior. Seriously worse than unity? In what way? Is it perhaps because you are a gaming tourists who rage baits against when something like godot makes fun of another gaming tourist for calling game engines woke? Unity and Unreal had free tiers long before Godot even existed. Godot didn't 'pressure' them into anything; at most, it influenced them to change pricing model (royalties), but that's it.
BREAKING NEWS! People on twitter got mad at a joke, got banned. I don’t want to use youtube anymore now that it’s full of actual slop like this video. Here I was fearing that my switch from unity to godot was a bad decision, thinking that the godot foundation decided to capitalise on the situation, but no, the “destroying itself” part is a minor controversy. I wish you a new source of inspiration to make better videos, because this is a complete and utter waste of time
A minor controversy? Have you been witnessing the fall of all games that are "woke" lately? the sweet baby controversy that's lost companies millions of dollars. It's not just a minor issue if people stop supporting games or developers using godot it's not a minor issue at all. This is a supremely important issue that's almost brought Ubisoft to its knees and other indie devs have been going out of business for being too "woke" so of course as a developer you'd want to remain as neutral as possible to ensure everyone can enjoy your game, people are simple and would absolutely think that using a certain game engine means the dev is okay with certain political opinions.
@@OtakuWrath Damn, what indie companies have been shut down for "being woke"? Maybe I haven't heard of them BC they've already been shut down? 3:20 wdym? Godot has THE BEST documentation ever. The problem is more lack of tutorials for more specific problems, since it's an engine that is just getting popular now.
the community management side of godot is a train wreck, but the engine itself is unaffected and still the best one out there imo luckily i dont have to give them any money to keep using it!
Ikr! So many people are doing clickbaity titles, or are grasping for straws by saying that Godot destroy/killed/ruined itself! All that has happened so far is that community management has overstepped way beyond it's privileges, and it looks like the Godot foundation is trying to fix it. Granted, we have yet to see if they will do what we all need them to do, aka deal with the moderators involved, but as far as I am aware, the engine itself (without the people behind community management) is still plenty fine, free and has no involvement in the drama.
@@raremc1620 That's where you're wrong. The core developers who get final say so on what happens with the engine and what pull requests get merged (for those that don't know, pull requests are implemented features/bug fixes by the community and merged means to add them) are absolutely on board with the attitude displayed by the community manager. Look up "Waiting for Blue Robot". It's an online book by Andrii Doroshenko, who was a key contributor to Godot who was removed, that exposes the horrible leadership of Godot. This community manager situation was inevitable because it reflects the leadership. That's why she's not fired, that's why she was hired in the first place, and that's why Juan keeps blocking good features and development on the engine.
The point is, the project only exists through the goodwill of its community and the donations it brings to keep them working on it. When their CM comes in with a flaming thrower and burns it all down, that goodwill and, thus, the money coming in is stripped away. Redot and other forks prove that the code itself will never die, but the main branch may fizzle out into obscurity. Kinda like O.G.R.E.

Like shut the f***k up and don't overexagerrate problems, or at least don't spread it to the masses. We live in society, I guess.
"Don't hate the art, hate the artist" I'd say, Godot is a blessing, and I don't think people should stop using it because some higher ups decided to be dicks. (even if it was in response to others being dicks... it's a stupid situation of feeding the trolls) Remember, Godot is the work of many, many people working together, not just those who lashed out.
Funny thing: If you look at the top comment, I am using the split testing between three thumbnails. The more creative self_destruct() and queue_free() thumbnails did very poorly compared to just simply trashing Unity in the thumbnail in regards to clickthrough rate
I find it hilarious that the mfs that are apparently against politics and complain about godot are the ones bringing it up all the time in the github pull requests board and unrelated dev posts They say they don't want politics in anything but they're the ones who never shut up about it
As a Godot user, why would I care what people on Twitter say or do? I guess you weren't around in the early 2000s when Blizzard had community managers posting cringe arguments in reply to users on the official World of Warcraft forums lol. Every community has people like this.
It's obviously fine if they just make a simple unrelated tweet to support a community, it's completely harmless, what I have a problem with is the fact they also started blocking people that were for example just asking for help with the engine, it wasn't "in support" of the initial tweet and they got blocked, that's just ridiculous It's so dumb because with that reaction the initial post completely fell flat on it's head.. Now instead of having made a positive message to the community they made it seem like the complete opposite by blocking everyone etc
Honestly even making a post that makes such a politically hot declaration is just unnecessary risk. It'd be fine if they just said something like "Godot is an engine for any one and everyone regardless of your political or personal views! We love everyone in our community and want to see all the amazing passionate works you have made, share it with us down bellow!". To specifically align yourself with something people feel strongly against is divisive and not something a free community supported anything should do.
The Godot situation is bad, but nowhere near as bad as the Unity situation was. A few idiots throwing a tantrum on what is supposed to be a company account is bad, but they can't stop people from using or modifying the engine however and whenever they want. And even if they tried to use something like the terms of service to restrict the users of the engine, the Godot source code is under the MIT license, so anyone could just get the code and modify/use it how they please. In fact, since Godot is open source, you don't even have to stop using the engine in order to stop supporting the Godot foundation, if that's what you want to do. Just don't donate to the foundation. The Unity situation was MUCH worse because they were essentially trying to rug-pull developers into a bad deal that they would've had to accept since Unity users are essentially at the whim of the terms of service.
Exactly, this situation would've been worse if they made godot cost money. That's what i thought would've been said in the video and i got so worried for nothing.
Godot response is definetely worst, telling poeple to beg for a possible unban and asking for unnecessary emails. At least unity apologized properly and made moves in the right direction, unlike godot. This is just going to be very detrimental for them.
@@garm7506 It's kind of unfair to compare Godot's response to Unity's, since Unity has had almost a year to apologize and make up for their actions, while the Godot situation happened a few days ago. I'd agree that Godot's response so far is worse that Unity's response, but Unity's original action of charging developers for player installs was FAR worse than Godot's idiotic tweets and blockings.
The problem now is if I still use Godot the "woke" engine, then I, and the games I make will likely be associated as "woke" too. I want to make inclusive games, that does not exclude people simply because of different political views or set of beliefs. I will still continue using Godot, but hide their splash screen, and possibly switch to Redot (A Godot fork, without the political BS) if it ever becomes a serious fork that actually delivers something better.
So in summary: this is just Twitter overreacting again? I kinda agree with the people that says this video feels a bit clickbaity because there is a lot of misinformation, even with the fact that you said that this situation is worse than Unity's, Unity's situation was a total distaster for indie games that used that engine, Godot here just tweeted a silly comment and people didn't liked it and the social manager started blocking all the people who slightly critcizes them, nothing is gonna change to the engine itself, this is just Twitter being Twitter
Unity was trying to make an extra buck on it's loyal developers while Godot had gained community members and more contributors off Unity's failure. Unlike Unity, for no good reason, Godot destroyed their reputation with less effort than Unity did. This also serves as a huge example of an open source project being taken over by people and showing their true colors.
@@francyisanid1ot106 Yes, especially those hypocritical clickbaity RUclipsrs did nothing when former Godot developer quit because he is Russian when Ukraine war has begun.
@@francyisanid1ot106 godot alienated so many people who just wanted to avoid politics and drama around what is supposed to just be a collective, community built tool. it's no longer just "twitter drama" as people who actively fund, contribute code, advocate and bring attention to the engine have now been told they are not welcome, just because they aren't politically aligned with one community managers opinion. the engine is already "changed" and what I find that sucks the most is almost every time a political stunt like this raises funds or attention by a sudden influence of "new supporters", those supporters drop off just as fast when their interest wanes and the virtue signalling is no longer convenient for them. so they may have a little more money now, they likely wont see that support last and they expended a lot of goodwill towards the very people responsible for working on their code. at least with unity and unreal we know our issues are going to come down to a money/greed issue. god knows what godots next "cleansing" will be about... @@lucylu3342 That is not a RUclips-related concern, but hey, a possible answer to this could be that some developers do not want to judge people or something. Also, I know now that you are speaking of CoryxKenshin when you say "Kori," just to let you know. Some advice: if @cubedimensions ever has to mention being fatal to oneself, the phrase "took one's own life" can work in order to avoid Algospea or to not use sensationalist language, like calling it a "cry for help" or calling it "successful" or "failed". While this issue is sad, it is not cool to maintain a stigma (even if unintentionally) surrounding it, because then fewer people would seek help. I find this article helpful: www.wired.com/story/algorithms-suicide-unalive/
For me, the worst rpoblem with Godot is the transition from 3. to 4. They changed a lot of code, and most tutorials now get errors and simply don't work. Some things like trail effects are still buggy, and don't work like they are supposed to.
To whom it concerns: This situation is SEVERELY overblown Only 2 people were actually banned from the github, and even then, they were still allowed to download/fork the code. Those people were not banned for their relation to the twitter fiasco. Instead, it was because they chose to begin harassing the developers. Moreover, the developers have apologized and the -CM has been removed- (maybe?) . Part of that apology includes the banning of neutral parties. If you're mad because of the "woke" post then quite frankly nobody misses you. Finally, if you want information, find it yourself. Don't listen to the video or even this comment. Feel free to correct me.
@@bits360wastaken No, recent changes to Godot continue to make the engine better than ever. HDDGI is likely going to be released within the next year which will put Godot's GI method at parity with Unity's. The development of Godot has been incredibly positive, where they actually listen and engage with the community to make the software better in a way that Unity and Unreal have stopped doing for anyone but the biggest players. Waiting for Blue Robot is not an objective piece in the least. It is written by someone who has many personal grievances with the staff. While some of what is written is valid criticism (though i'd argue some critiques of design philosophies are more subjective than objective), a lot of it is simply targeting the engine for their own grievances. This is very clear in how much he focuses on the culture, how much he focuses on individuals, and how very little of it has to do with the qualities of Godot as an engine. He also weirdly praises Unity as better than Godot - I wouldn't argue that someone objective about the topic would ever say one game engine is better than another because game engines are use case specific. Unity is better than Godot for some games, for some developers, but godot is better than unity in other cases. (same is true for unreal, game maker, rpgmaker ect). Godot being open source is reason alone that Godot will have use cases where Unity won't because you can use Godot as the basis for a custom engine. Unity also has a fairly big issue with bloat, but unlike Unreal - a lot of their bloat are half-finished functionalities [this is a long standing issue with the Unity team, they have people champion a feature and if those people leave before the feature is complete it becomes abandoned]. Some dude getting angry at people and then creating a manifesto is, in fact, not a good representation of how the engine is doing in terms of features, popularity, or really anything
I don't believe its overblown at all. This shows how unstable the people running the engine are. If you want to invest years of your life learning and working with a product you don't want it to be run by volatile idiots who don't know how to manage their social media monkeys or engine.
I really don't know why people call it "Gadoe". I know Wikipedia says it's inspired by "Waiting For Godot", but it seems like a play on words to me. Regardless of the founder calling it "go dot", the logo is a robot. Go dot, robot. And what do game engines create? Dots! Lots of dots! Gooooo dot! Really, is it just me?
Yeah... Sorry, in the Godot community you come off as a person who says jif instead of gif. Sometimes there is no meaning and the community just chooses what sounds the best pronounciation wise, regardless of what the creator says.

I knew that when I was 13 making games on Neopets, and I'm as stupid as a golden labrador with an orange cat steering it: do not bother the official accounts unless you have problems with the official website, if you need help making a game go find the tutorials, docs, or go ask in the help forums. You remind me of nazis who were openly ok with discriminating against a group of people, as that wasn't much of a big deal for them either. If the discrimination is done openly against my opposition, it's fine, right? And then, things come around.

Guys I'm gonna be brave with a take so cold, you'd think I were an antarctic pirate Using a company's social media for politics is super embarrassing and shortsighted. And. It makes no difference to me as a game dev
I heard that Concord actually was pretty much gave up on and passed around to multiple game studios. I heard the credits are an hour long or an hour and a half long. It wasn't one team that spent 8 years on that game, it was a ton of different teams that gave up and kept handing it over to another team to work on
I don't have twitter and now I learned about a game engine named godot. So the godot socials manager did a pretty descent job. All publicity is good publicity
Neglect? I read out a tweet mentioning that it was a good thing it was FOSS it and I mentioned the term forking (which I probably should have gone into some more detail on)
Hatred gets clicks. Rage brings views. It's a lot easier when you don't include all the facts or try to hide your own political bias. Some people just can't stop themselves from trying to bring others down. It's pathetic but a sad reality.
Honestly, the fact that somebody thinks that the fact that all people deserve human rights is a political agenda is so utterly disgusting to me. The "anti-woke" crowd to me are just a bunch of hateful and aggressive idiots.
Notice how these idi*t keyboard warriors with their throwaway accounts don't understand the situation at all. Godot is dead. There aren't many options left for all the former Godot users. It's early to tell how Redot is going to do but one thing is certain - It's going to do much better than current Godot. As it turns out: before godot started to sh*t on their community, they got rid of their heavy-lifting engineers. There's no hope for them. R.I.P. Godot 2014 - 2024.
It is. A lot of developers might not know Queer Theory, but I do. Queering is inherently political and always has been. If supporting Queer people isn't political, neither is not liking them.
I love how "godot is destroying itself" when... someone made a joke in response to someone calling game engines as "woke"- some accounts were I believe blocked when they shouldn't have been, but this doesn't really have to do with the engine itself does it- but somehow all the drama youtubers are just "godot is destroying itself" "the end of open source game engines"- I'm really tired of drama youtubers just parroting off the exact same thing that everybody else says just because it's popular. It's really painful to watch. I'll be honest, I was kind of expecting better from your channel - I really liked some of your previous videos... but this is just clickbait drama with no actual value. Just following the trend, I guess
Godot has released a statement fully backing the person in question and in their response, they admit to "mistakenly" banning people (it was clearly not a mistake). They've banned a lot more people than you think, its not "a few", its anyone who showed even the slightest form of disagreement (try it yourself). This includes from the godot git repo. That's why people are declaring the open source game engine dead. This isn't going to just go away. People are going to leave Godot en masse. Personally I don't think the initial tweet was that bad, they could have asked for diverse games instead of "woke" games which would obviously would start a firestorm because of the comical use of the word in society today. To this video, I love that you replace curse words with "roblox and microsoft" 😂

Well, I was thinking of moving from Unity to Godot after ending my current project, but I know now that everything I do in that engine would have their label of woke in it. It's even getting a huge backlash from its place of Birth, USA\Canada.
SO nothing actually is wrong with the engine right? If the engine is alright wtf is the fuss about. I thought there be some bug in Godot or something. BTW should I switch from Unity?
short term. There's no harm in staying with unity. Since Unity is still scared from the back lash they got from the Run Time fiasco. So Unity won't be doing anything too Long term, you absolutely should learn Godot. FOSS is the way to go. There's also something uniquely fun about making a game in a different game engine. Its challenging and frustrating at first, since you have to learn all new tools to accomplish stuff you could do so easily in your old engine. But by challenging yourself, and building in a new engine. It changes the way you approach problems. It teaches you to look at things from a different perspective. I absolutely recommend it. Two other great options are easy FPS editor for boomer shooters, and Ren'Py for visual novels.
if you did 5 seconds of research you'd know it was godod's response to same poeple calling game dev "woke" for using a game engine the game engine being UE5 but it is no factor they were just called woke for using the engine itself which is just... lmao
Probably one of the most nothing burger of a video I've ever seen. FOSS will forever be the superior option, whether you agree with the opinions of the people providing you with the fruit of their labour (for free), or not. Also, if you think this entire drama is important in any way, you may have a bit of an issue with basic human empathy.
As someone who started learning game dev earlier this year and chose godot as engine, new to coding and 3d in general, seeing all these discussions online about godot's mismanagement really breaks my heart cause it means alot of educators & game developpers will migrate out and opt for different engines and frameworks, there will be less tutorials etc so it will be much harder to progress and efficiently learn the engine & its not like there are better options anyway.. yeah this sucks & I feel like alot of people are in the same boat as me, especially for someone with a full time job in this economy oof, oh well we cant have good things huh
@@tux_the_astronaut yeah such a bummer, heard about defold but the lack of extensive tutorials makes it complicated to switch, there arent any good alternatives for now!
The Godot Engine is not entirely affected, only the PR and the teams behind the project. Thanks to it being open source, you can use the engine and it wouldn't be able to support the team cause they only can be through donations. The only affected part of the engine itself are the future versions. Which is not good news for those looking to make bleeding edge games. But the stable versions are still solid and feature complete enough for small to mildly big projects. You can also hide the fact your game is made in Godot other than keeping their license text somewhere. As for Godot's future, we'll have to wait if the forked version Redot manages to fly. So not all hope is lost.
@@Sector8 yes, as a developer I was among those who overreacted about the news. Not present on twitter or discord. But I nearly migrated. However, this has bad implications for the future of Godot because the problem's inside the teams in charge of the project with the owner letting the CM scot free. Also they've been losing key developers for a while. So those are to keep in mind.
The irony of this: the theme of this video is that Godot gets their opportunity to gain meaning/a massive spot in the industry from Unity's incident, but, they never gain that one person who makes a Undertale-tier or FNAF-tier game that causes tons of developers to learn their engine. Godot Game Engine has been waiting a decade for someone to do something to that level, and no one has, ironically living up to what it was exactly named after
@@cubedimensions While you feed on drama and negativity, there is no time left to check the existence of epic games like Halls of Torment or Road to Vostok. How typical.
@@cubedimensions Road to Vostok btw is exactly one man project, with unbelievable story of the dev switching to Godot half way of his game completed in Unity.
i think its funny people goes on about godot having to "stop with politics" and as soon as godot give a simple political statement (godot literally did a joke to be honest) they say they wont use something because of their own opinion on politics and rather go back to unity (the engine they so much hated) and how this and that destroyed godot. never saw this happening with right opinions aswell its seems to be a thing from the right that thinks a simple rainbow in a tweet to be woke and "DEI" , granted there is this whole DEI and ESG scores that makes the whole left seem like they control everything and are putting lgbt in everything (you know, being annoying with something) and in companies case it absolutely is this. i just think people need to have thicker skin in politics, just use the thing and forget about twitter and stuff if they so much think the left are brainless sheeps, a simple rainbow and a tweet shouldn't make you change engines and be so pressed about it.
i agree, i think simply leaving godot because of some dumb post is just... stupid. you can not like the post, think that it's bad, and stuff. but simply stop using it because of that, to me, it's rlly immature
I think the main problem is not the post itself, but how they've blocked every comment that was simply telling them to focus on more important things, like the game engine.
@@BaptisteJacquet It's just a twitter ban, it's not like they can't use the engine anymore, so even that is not really anything important aside from giving the community manager a and by extent the game engine a bad look
@@stargazer162 So basically they should be glad only their TV was stollen, and that people did not burn their house down? Banning them from twitter was incredibly stupid and completely out of scale compared to the "offense", but banning them from using the engine (despite being impossible to do) would have just been insane. I am honestly looking at all of this from very far as I have only used Godot for a bit (even though I love open source softwares), but you not seeing why people would be mad after they actually funded the engine and been told to shut up after essentially saying "please focus on fixing the engine" is quite surprising to me. I don't think it takes a Phd to see that, but I might be wrong and if so I apologize.
Sounds like just twitter. Bullshit problem created by pepole with too much time on thier hands. It's nothing even worth talking about, the moment you said ignore technical stuff it was a waste of time as the project itself will continue.
5:01 did you really just censor the word "queer" with "roblox"? How does that make any sense? Why is the word queer even censored? Is it a slur now or something?
Today I was banned from the "Godot Cafe" server simply because I reacted with a vomit emoji on a Woke and very offensive message. The reason I reacted with the emoji was because they now have a 6 hour cooldown for every message, so there is basically no way to have a proper discussion with such cooldown and an emoji was simply a way for me to say I disagreed. But apparently now if you simply disagree with them you get silenced and banned. And all this after over a year contributing to the Development Fund as a gold member, having made code contributions to the project that actually made to the 4.3 version, several plugins published on the asset library and years being active in the server (Godot Cafe) helping people in the voice chats. Even after all this, I am banned after simply disagreeing with a woke message. If people that actually matter in the project dont start doing something about what is going on, these community managers are going to destroy the Godot brand for their political agendas. For now I am stopping my contributions to the fund and will start to look for another engine to support. It's just sad what is going on.
Broly privated her Twitter account less than 9 hours after I published this video, I have no idea whether it's from the Asmongold coverage or not, maybe Asmongold will react to this video on his stream and it'll blow up. The Godot Foundation won't condemn their community manager. This video isn't getting as many views as Asmon's coverage however, we'll see if this all escalates further or this is the end, this incident could have easily been avoided and it goes to show, to be careful who you put in charge of PR, or else this stuff can happen. Sorry this has happened to you, and, if the Redot fork or if another fork manages to form and does a better job than Godot, your money won't 100% go to waste if they are building off current progress.
Ye it rly sucks godot has been the most beginner friendly FOSS engine but now they are chasing people away. There are other engines but none as feature complete or as beginner friendly. Im still going to be using godot for now but im not gonna be involved in the community
@jaythecoderx4623 Godot Cafe was the official discord for a long time and most mods for the 'official' one also mod Godot Cafe. Saying it's not official is just a misleading statement that suggests Godot doesn't condone or support Godot Cafe, which it does.

Cruelty squad is one of if not the most financially successful game ever made with godot, it so frustrating that no one ever mentions it as a good example of the potential of the engine just because it doesnt have nice look graphics
Copy pasting my answer from another channel: People wanting to compare what a few dumb moderators did to the robbery that Unity tried to perpetrate and their sneaky changes in the EULA ,is laughable to say the least. These moderators just need to put aside and that's it. Godot is growing rapidly in adoption and improving massively in its features, and this are pure facts. People that favor Unity will put such labels as 'reputation destroyed' or grandiloquent titles trying to magnify things and making it seem much worse than it is. I've been using Godot daily with C# for a year now and I'm very happy with it. Specially when it takes 2-3 secs to open my project. Having a dumbass CM in Godot won't change this, the same way you don't quit your job if someone in your team may not go along that well with you. Having said that, again, this CM needs to be put aside or stop imposiing his views on others.
Wow.. Even unity isn't this deranged and actually backed down their stupid ideas. Godot literally doing the exact opposite while on a drama, and that is to double down, turned a blind eye, and do nothing while not a word that says "apology" And being very unprofessional Also, forking an engine will probably not going to solve the core issue with the engine. Cuz you see, other than this, godot itself has many issues with it's engine, starting from the broken physics, issues while importing objects, the unreliable entity system, the broken shaders, lack of documentations, and many more. And godot fans isn't really helping either with saying that all of those features are "useless" And "isn't important". So i think that forking it will create more problem by making the slow development of this engine even slower
I had a theory that Unity's CEO, like how Gamestop was purposely sabatoged for people who were shorting the company, had purposely sabotaged Unity to help his friends short Unity as it was a publicly traded stock. I have no proof of this, however, someone told me that the runtime fee is waived for mobile developers who use Unity Ads, so they were trying to gather more re-occurring revenue from people who made mobile games as that's where a lot of the whales are. Forking can split people's energy, or it can make things better, hopefully Godot will either fix itself or Redot will do a good job (I spoke to the founders and they haven't decided on the pronunciation, pronouncing Redot as REDO is funny because it's a redo of Godot)
@@cubedimensions "unity thinks hes light yagami" lol But Yea, unity's just lack comunications, and the new fees actually better and benefitial to both users and unity itself. Cuz unity for a long time has been strugling with its engine not making enough money while all the game made by unity's been eating good lately (genshin, honkai, uma musume, blue archive, ultrakill, etc). Like, were talking about a large chunk of games using unity as an engine, but unity hasn getting any of these success at all. But at that time the comunity manager is being very professional and made a long very informative statement about what happend. And eventually back down and fire all involved and finally come out with something good. My theory with this is that they made the runtime fee just so that the new fee can be more pallatable but i cant 100% sure, just take this with a grain of salt
@@cubedimensions Some people theorized that the runtime fee was thought off because of absolutely massive games like Genshin Impact. Just imagine how much money they could have made, if it did go through. @@1KiloDepartmentthey would have made that money for at most 2 years. Games like genshin and mobile legends would have migrated as well. After that their death would have been inevitable.

You think godot can handle triangle that amount? There's a reason why there's no anime rpg game that's made with godot. Unity's has rewritten their code to be ecs based in unity6, making the 3D game made with unity to be even bigger in scale. Just think of how many anime girl you can shoved into 1 scene in unity.

Considering how the hand-down biggest complaint people have about Godot is the lack of tutorials, I think charging into political stances that are going flood search results with drama content is one of the dumbest things you could do. There's a lot of talk about how all this stuff doesn't effect game development, but that's wrong. It makes searching for help harder. It makes the implementation of new features harder. Hell, it makes it harder to get more people interested in using it, which likewise makes it harder to get new tutorials, and new people asking and answering questions in forums. It's not as bad as many other things that could have happened (or that have happened to other engines) but it was completely unnecessary and brought absolutely no benefit.

Unlike Unity, for no good reason, Godot destroyed their reputation with less effort than Unity did. the engine is already "changed" and what I find that sucks the most is almost every time a political stunt like this raises funds or attention by a sudden influence of "new supporters", those supporters drop off just as fast when their interest wanes and the virtue signalling is no longer convenient for them. so they may have a little more money now, they likely wont see that support last and they expended a lot of goodwill towards the very people responsible for working on their code.

To whom it concerns: This situation is SEVERELY overblown
Only 2 people were actually banned from the github, and even then, they were still allowed to download/fork the code. Those people were not banned for their relation to the twitter fiasco. Instead, it was because they chose to begin harassing the developers.

Hasnt this engine been going downhill for a long time (See: waiting for blue robot)
@@bits360wastaken In my personal opinion I don't really think waiting for blue robot is a good book
If you want to invest years of your life learning and working with a product you don't want it to be run by volatile idiots who don't know how to manage their social media monkeys or engine.

i think its funny people goes on about godot having to "stop with politics" and as soon as godot give a simple political statement (godot literally did a joke to be honest) they say they wont use something because of their own opinion on politics and rather go back to unity (the engine they so much hated) and how this and that destroyed godot. never saw this happening with right opinions aswell its seems to be a thing from the right that thinks a simple rainbow in a tweet to be woke and "DEI" , granted there is this whole DEI and ESG scores that makes the whole left seem like they control everything and are putting lgbt in everything (you know, being annoying with something) and in companies case it absolutely is this. i just think people need to have thicker skin in politics, just use the thing and forget about twitter and stuff if they so much think the left are brainless sheeps, a simple rainbow and a tweet shouldn't make you change engines and be so pressed about it.
i agree, i think simply leaving godot because of some dumb post is just... stupid. you can not like the post, think that it's bad, and stuff. but simply stop using it because of that, to me, it's rlly immature
@@lazyursidae well Godot is the ones making people leave by banning them
I think the main problem is not the post itself, but how they've blocked every comment that was simply telling them to focus on more important things, like the game engine.
Overly cautious to prevent video from being restricted (or demonetized lol).
man i sure do love when twitter attempts to cancel someone over a word they said 8 years ago. the disc mod may be shitty, but twitter is shittier.
Unity apologized and promised to do better. It's that or Unreal
The godot cafe isn't even an official discord server what
@jaythecoderx4623 Godot Cafe was the official discord for a long time and most mods for the 'official' one also mod Godot Cafe.
Saying it's not official is just a misleading statement that suggests Godot doesn't condone or support Godot Cafe, which it does.
I tend to think of the pronunciation of the word like the absent T think like "Bo'o' o' wa'a'" thing that the they do in British, because I just assume that anything weird is french. Turns out, It actually is french after all, which is weird because it was programmed in Argentina.
i can't with these swear word replacement. what the flip is 'microsoft off' 😭 this shi makin me laugh at serious moments lmao
your censors are goated i love it
Godot decided to not be racist?
Rookie mistake.
i like how you censor curse words lol
subbed!
Go-dot sounds better fight me
This is morepegasus levels of overexaggeration
also godot HAS a popular project made in it. Endoparasitic, you know? Mark has made a video about it and it was pretty popular game overall
There's also Dome Keeper if I remember correctly, pretty good game.
Cruelty squad is one of if not the most financially successful game ever made with godot, it so frustrating that no one ever mentions it as a good example of the potential of the engine just because it doesnt have nice look graphics
This video was bait, he starts by talking about Godot then half-way through starts ranting about woke stuff.
The intro was so good. You nailed it.
Godot supports ROBLOX people???!>....... how could they... i HATE Roblox!
Robligotry? That sounds like a bunch of bullskibidi to me.
"She'll be called Brolly because she has green hair"
Top kek. I need to remember that one.
She must be the Legendary Super Soyain.
You know the situation is bad when the creator of Minecraft comments about it.
Having said that, again, this CM needs to be put aside or stop imposiing his views on others.
first unity pressed the self destruction button now godot
Wow.. Even unity isn't this deranged and actually backed down their stupid ideas.
Godot literally doing the exact opposite while on a drama, and that is to double down, turned a blind eye, and do nothing while not a word that says "apology" And being very unprofessional
Also, forking an engine will probably not going to solve the core issue with the engine.
@@cubedimensions "unity thinks hes light yagami" lol
But Yea, unity's just lack comunications, and the new fees actually better and benefitial to both users and unity itself.
I would still keep out of Unity, afaik the board of directors hasn't changed, and the idea from the previous CEO would have had to go through them first. And some people may dislike the new Generative AI coming in Unity 6.
@@1KiloDepartmentthey would have made that money for at most 2 years. Games like genshin and mobile legends would have migrated as well. After that their death would have been inevitable.
@@NowThatsAnime do you think migrating a game to a different game engine is as easy as you think?🤣 Bro, you couldn't even import assets properly in godot, do you think importing the entire 100Gb of game data to another engine's a good idea?
Godot isnt even a proper engine, the amount of bugs on that engine's enormous. Making 3D game in godot is literally a nightmare, there's about 14k triangles on a single genshin humanoid model.
You are kinda lying tho. You dont need unity pro. you only need unity pro after you make certain ammount of cash per year, but as a solo dev, you can dump a new game every day free of charge.
The tweet was harmless, but the actions to the replies was the part that did the most damage I think. I couldn't give less of a shit if a game engine is "woke" or not, but if you start hiding replies it doesn't look good, looks like you are punishing people for having an opinion, that isn't the inclusivity the community manager is striving for..
The initial tweet wasn't harmless at all, it was political activism proven by rainbow symblism. It indirectly attacked people of political neutrality side, then blocking attacked directly the non-political and anti-woke people indiscriminately confirmed the moderator is cringe american political activist... and a snake who should be fired. This method of getting into other people's business has never worked for vegans to gain synpathy, why would it help anyone else?
I would disagree. As society gets more and more polarised, wether your woke or not, the last thing we need is more politics in our favourite game engine
@@Stangy-dev It changed nothing about the game engine, it's still Godot, it's not like they were announcing a gender pronouns node. It had good intentions behind it, it just fell apart when they started silencing people that had different opinions. Plus, at the end of the day, it's open source. If they add something you don't like you are more than welcome to go fork it and take it out yourself. Don't get me wrong, I don't want any of this in Godot either, but I think you are just upset they said anything related to LGBT stuff. Who cares?
@@HiImKyle Perhaps you feel that it was a "harmless" tweet because you support the "woke" movement, thus the claim that the tweet had "good intentions"? She directly referred to "woke", and far from everyone have positive associations to that term. The tweet was polarising, and she should have known that. It is absolutely not her job to polarise the community. I consider her actions borderline sabotage.
@@calanor4130 why would you have negative associations with the term "woke"
Since when were gay people political?
because politicians made gay people political
why did you censor the word queer lmao
As long as individuals meet the requirements, anyone should be eligible for any position. However, company policies should prohibit the use of the organization as a platform for propaganda. Internal communications may be acceptable, but outward-facing propaganda towards third parties should be disallowed
I feel like this is a bit overblown. The "wokeness" of a company or product is genuinely a stupid think to lose your sanity over.
He is retarded he thinks a woke community manager behind a free game engine is worst than Unity runtime fees he is mentally retarded
Don't clickbait, mate.
Terraria devs donated 100k for this
at least they probably will make that back in less than a week or from a steam sale
U can't blame donating for a good cause that later becomes a drama bomb
@@rodrix7785 Some people have pointed out changes to Terraria that indicate that at the very least the money men support those who caused the drama for the very reasons they caused it.
anyone who works with game dev would know godot don't deserve the money just by looking at their github
Wow!
This [BROLY] manager is really insane. Who's idea was to hire such person?
And also, discord mods being discord mods
People aren't politics
If you have a problem with someone living their own life, that's your problem
True!
Live your own life then stop worrying that people hate you like the annoying mosquitos you present yourselves as.
supporting gays etc is different from "woke", the term has different meanings to different people, but it is used for politics
@@samhein321 calling gay people "gays" tells me all I need to know about you, get out of here loser
This seems like a nothingburger to be honest, just a Twitter community manager overstepping their boundaries, but unlike the Unity situation has no effect on the game engine itself
Godot is queue_free itself :D
I have made several thumbnails using queue_free() and am A+B testing with 3 thumbnails using the youtube feature, I'll probably eventually put queue_free() in however people on the outside who are clicking might not have used Godot before, so self_destruct() is what I am going with for now, just because a developer outside of the Godot community will click the video
func woke_initialize()
tweet_bait = true
ban_wave()
blame_community()
goodwill = 0
queue_free()
I personally think everyone is overreacting (both sides). I just wish Twitter didn't exist.
well that is your own personal opinion that belong to trash where it belong but you entitled to it and i respect it
twitter is so bad its just made to get interactions, so you stay more time on your phone and, see ads, separating people with controversial topics makes a lot of money it seems
