Great review guys. Hi guys, great Video. Its good to understand the characteristics of the various systems. If you have the opportunity, please compare the Cambridge Edge a and Rotel MICHI X3 or the X5. Thanks a thousand times keep it up.
I'm wondering, how much did the pairing with the speakers influence these insights? Say you pair tue technics with the renewed KLH model 5s, some klipsch towers or the warfdale Linton's? Would that take the edge and fatigue off of the technics? For instance, those speakers tend to have a narrow soundstage, but are warm. Do they compliment the airier and broader soundstage of the technics or is this a so-called disaster waiting to happen? I'm wondering because I do listen to a lot of classic rock and metal on vinyl, am in love with the technic's looks, but am unsure about the match with that genre. If however speakers are the deciding factor that will work well for me 😊
I also listen to a lot of metal/hard rock on vinyl and I matched my Wharfedale Lintons with a Yamaha AS501 , I tried to balance the speakers warmth with the transparency and slight brightness of the amp, I think they work pretty well together. Hope this helps!
@@m.moreira3969 Yes it does, thanks 😊 Good to know warm speakers and an open amp can work well for those genres. The setup I have in mind has been altered slightly. The Linton's are still in there, and I want to pair it with a Vincent SV500 because of the tube pre-amp that's in there and add the newly released pro-ject debut pro for the input.
@@HerrFinsternis Great! Ah, an hybrid! A few days ago I was just checking the new Magnat MA900 hybrid , very interesting! By the way, pay special attention to what cartridge you chose for the turntable: I have a Denon DL110 on my Thorens TD 320 and it’s a bit warmer than it should be together with the warm Lintons, it works wonders with classic 70s , early 80s rock ( Deep Purple, Sabbath, early Whitesnake, Stones) but it struggles with more recent, dynamic and fast kinds of metal (speed/thrash/death/black).
@@HerrFinsternis yes, it’s quite popular! If Technics had Dirac, couldn’t it easily be matched to the same curve as the Cambridge (and vice versa)? Sibilance is easily toned down with Dirac. I wish all these high end integrated amps did what NAD M33 does for $5,000 and include Dirac so you can change the curve to match the music rather than buy different pieces of equipment.
I would love to know what you guys think of the Cambridge Audio Edge against one of the Luxman valve or tube amps at a similar price. Absolutely love your reviews ♥️
I own a Cambridge Audio Edge A and also a Cayin CS100A tube amp, which I used with two DIFFERENT DACs, a tune based DAC and a R2R. What I will say is I like how clean the Cambridge sounds and it's bass control, but I am continually drawn back to my tube amp as it just has a sweet, organic fluidity to the sound that the Cambridge simply does not. There is a slight 'glare' to the Cambridge compared to my Cayin. At first it didn't bother me, but the more I listen to it, the more I crave the warmer, softer sound of the tube Cayin. Once you hear a decent tube amp, it's very hard to go back. I do however love the simplicity of the HDMI ARC on the Cambridge, it makes TV great
@@elthamlad468 Hi, do you have problem on your remote controller volume control?? it just increase too much either + / - , it seems not increase the volume one by one.... it seems increase 3 times or more for each one press via the remote control......

Focal is bright which may be part of the issue with the technics because they are supposed to be neutral from what I'm read. The cambridge may have just tamed the focals brightness while the technics showed what the focal really sounds like.
Could you please review the Technics on it's own with different speakers? I've got my heart set on the Technics but now trying to decide what speaker. I was also dead set on the silver colour but seeing some videos the black looks dam sexy as well...
Hey Troll... i'm just curuous. Have you already decided on which speakers are you going to pair with the Technics? I am also leaning into buying the SU G700 too.
@@hugobaptista8755 still undecided. I actually managed to audition the SB-G90, I thought it sounded fantastic. I'm actually going to audition some 804 D2 today, but not with the g700. I'm also considering KEF r7 or reference 1 (used) and also Sony SS-NA2ESPE but need to audition them first. @@trollmaster2122 I am looking to setup a stereo system from scratch, one that includes a tube preamp, and an integrated amp (like the Technics SU G700). I was also considering the Rotel 1592 mainly because of it's versatility that allows you to add a second pair of speakers (in stereo) and a sub. As for speakers i was thinking about the Heresy IV from Klipsch, since the Cornwalls are "refrigerator sized", despite their awesome sound quality. But now i was looking into pairing the Technics with the new Forte IV's, which brings more detail in the sound than the Heresy's.
