Well, I did followed your procedure to take out the three spark plugs at the back successfully. However, when I screwed the new spark plug #5 into its position, there is no way for me to take my spark plug socket out. :( I am not sure if you had the similar issue. After all, I may need to take the intake manifold apart to get the job done anyway.
@@35andRetired I tried, but the magnetic pick is not strong enough. My socket has rubber insert. I have to unscrew and take it out again. Then use a tape to secure the connection between the socket and the extension firmly. After that, I hope the socket will be pulled out with the extension all together.
#1 is fairly doable and that kinda saved the day for me today. The main obstacle with the #3 and 5 will be those coil bolts and plugs being super stuck. I fixed a somewhat related issue on my customer rx330 just to have the engine start misfiring badly on 1 and 3. Luckily, I was able to work the number one coil and swap it with one from bank 2. The misfire followed the coil and that's what we'll address next time I see him. He bought it a couple months ago and it came with lots of complimentary deferred maintenance
Here is what you should know before attempting this technique… 1. Don’t even consider this method unless you have very long super skinny girl arms, and even then they are going to get tore up. There is maybe 6” max between the firewall and the coil packs. 2. If the existing plugs are old and rusty or require any force at all to break loose you’re not going to be able to accomplish that by hand turning that little wheel ratchet. 3. You’re going to be doing this entire job completely blind and by feel. If you drop anything, which you almost certainly will, you’re either never going to see it again or spend God knows how long trying to find it.
I can do 10 pull ups so I resent you calling my arms girly ;) You don't use the wheel to break the spark plugs loose, you need a ratchet for that. The wheel just facilitates quicker undoing once loose. Fair point...I was a mechanic so I got used to doing stuff blind. Not everyone will be up for that. Lastly, based on the other comments, lots of people are doing this successfully and I don't think they are all girly armed ;) Thanks for the feedback, I am sure it will indeed help some folks. P.S. you could just TRY this and if it doesn't work, plan B is to take the manifold off which you would do anyway if you didn't even TRY this....

Not sure if this info is going to translate over to my sienna with its stubby engine bay.
Several folks have commented that it doesn’t work on sienna but I haven’t tried myself. Good luck!
He bought it a couple months ago and it came with lots of complimentary deferred maintenance
haha. I liked that last sentence :)
Thanks for posting
Youre welcome!!
will this work on RX330?
If it has a 3.3V6 it should.
Thanks for the tip
You’re welcome!
Just did mine on 2004 without pulling anything off.
Nice work!!
Here is what you should know before attempting this technique…
I can do 10 pull ups so I resent you calling my arms girly ;)
You don't use the wheel to break the spark plugs loose, you need a ratchet for that. The wheel just facilitates quicker undoing once loose.
Fair point...I was a mechanic so I got used to doing stuff blind. Not everyone will be up for that.
Lastly, based on the other comments, lots of people are doing this successfully and I don't think they are all girly armed ;)
Thanks for the feedback, I am sure it will indeed help some folks.
P.S. you could just TRY this and if it doesn't work, plan B is to take the manifold off which you would do anyway if you didn't even TRY this....
THANK YOU!
You’re welcome!
Sheesh 10 min if youve got skinny arms. This is rough 😅
Vaseline helps slip in and out ;)
@@35andRetiredI needed more than a little Vaseline but I did do it. lol
Not on the Sienna!
See if you can do it 1/2 hour.
The title and video show a solara. YMMV on a Sienna.
Not as easy on the 2004 Toyota sienna le, although not too bad
nice job!
The Sienna with this engine is absolutely horrible to work on. It’s a nightmare.
Were you able to take off the 3 back spark plugs on the 2004 Sienna without taking off the intake?
@@nick6834 yes its easy
@@Sci-Mon1any tips ??
Don't talk about this working on the 3.3 V6. It works on THAT CAR with the 3.3.
It won't work on a Sienna with that engine.
I think everyone can see what kind of a car I am working on and then apply the info as they see fit to their own situation/vehicle. I’m not publishing an all comprehensive service manual here, just a tip. Take it or leave it.
@@35andRetired Your statements don't need to be comprehensive to agree with reality.
Yours don't.
@@tnowandthen-t8t Thanks for swinging by the channel, I hope you have a good day. Lots of folks have learned from and appreciated my findings and applied them to their own situation. You are in the minority but as they say, it's lonely at the top! :)
@@35andRetired Ah, so you are beyond any need of correction!
Good to know.
@@tnowandthen-t8t No one is beyond correction. Is that what that was? Felt a lot more like trolling. I changed the title of the video to include the word "Solara". I'm doubtful you'll be satisfied with that, but maybe you'll prove me wrong :)
Ok I'm about to attempt this. I've got long skinny arms
I hope it goes well!
So far so good, called it quits after 4. I need a different combination of extensions to get the last two plugs. This is definitely doable.
It is finished
@@bobrobert1123 NICE!!
oo no it not like that
hmmm....
unhook the wires in the back or you will have problems
That’s true
Blessings, Jesus loves you.

Amen! I’m a believer too!
Works on es330 🫡👊🏼
Awesome! Thanks for letting me (and others) know that!
Thanks I’m attempting this tomorrow
