Totally agree way too much concern with some leakage. Its no big deal and I don't care. I have a Chargriller smokin champ and I get good flow through. I leave the fire box vent and the smoke stack wide open. Still get plenty of heat for my smoking purposes, and excellent results. I think folks ...unless you are doing competition...are waaaay to obsessed with every little detail and over think smoking. Not that complicated ! Weather can effect this, for instance trying to keep temp up when it's in the 30's or lower can be a challenge. Those are good days to leave the cover on the cooker and whip up a great pot of chili inside. Happy cooking !

Put a piece of trim down the center on a hinge that way u can open up doors separately and flip the middle trim piece up when u wanna access everything

Maybe you could show examples? Instead of just talking about it?

I’m not so concerned with smoke leaking out of the doors but cold air being sucked in and diluting both the smoke amount and temperature. Building my first 80 gallon offset. Thanks for all the great advice!

I have recently just built an offset smoker. I am really happy with the performance. I am questioning the diameter of pipe I used off of my collector. My smoker is a 24" dia 1/4" thick pipe 4 foot long. My stack is 4 dia by 5 foot tall coming out of my collector. Is this some what in the ball park, or would 6 " be better?

The really important factor is that you're really happy with the performance. But, if you switched it to a 6 it would draw more in some circumstance where you decide you want it, and you can always choke down the draft if there's some need to.

Yes. You are losing heat and smoke by leaks. Lacalock gaskets around doors. $15 fix. Cheers!
