I have his book and found that it drills into the joke so much it complicates it. I did get a couple of pieces of value from his book but it’s right along with Judy Carter’s book. It was hard not to glean something from these books since I was just starting out. Dean seems to dance around the answers to their questions and it always ends with him selling his book and classes or claiming that he created joke structure. He’s vague. Jerry Corley is a good resource. He’s known as The Joke Doctor. Jerry gives specifics and valuable, valuable help right on RUclips. He’s also valuable to listen to on podcasts. Hot Breath is another good podcast resource for writing jokes and learning the structure. And he interviews Jerry Corley. And it’s free! Jerry, The Joke Doctor also has a book and seminar you can buy but he gives a lot of it away by talking about it on RUclips. But Dean’s book has a few nuggets for those that like to dig. I think the calls it mining for jokes. Jerry Corley was a writer for Jay Leno and personally knew George Carlin. God bless and keep laughing!
