So in the mcu, they changed her backstory a little bit by having her dad be apart of the tracksuit mafia and getting killed by ronin. Her “uncle” is kingpin who is now her boss.
I am so glad that who responsible for casting Echo, chose the perfect actor. Alaqua Cox was born Deaf to Elena and Bill Cox. She was born and raised in the Menominee Indian Reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin and is of the Menominee and Mohican nation. She has three siblings: Will, Jordan and Katie. She attended the Wisconsin School for the Deaf and played on the girl’s basketball team from 2014 to 2015 in addition to taking part in their volleyball team.
I love how that although Kate is skilled and well trained, she would be dead without Hawkeye due to her recklessness and overconfidence. Love their dynamic.
And the fact that she’s forcing him to realise how good of a mentor and role model he actually is🥺 Because I mean we saw him be that for Wanda and Pietro
If you listen to her dad at the beginning he told maya (echo) that they could afford a school for the deaf, but then couldn't send her. Then when Hawkeye (Ronin) killed him he was wearing a red tracksuit. So somewhere along the way Wilson Fisk (kingpin) got involved with him and promised him money. If you look at the sign as Maya is pulling up to her dads Garage the sign in back says "fat man Garage". That scene where Mayas dad gets killed we see the motivation for why she wants Ronin.
You ears are essential for balance, but it has nothing to do with hearing, you can be deaf and still have perfect balance. The two senses are just placed togather in one organ but they function relatively indipedent. Clint is fully deaf on his other ear, it was hinted at in trhe second episode when he changed the side of cate on which he walked, in order to hear her.
This is one of my favorite episodes so far we got action, back story, and all the emotions... I can't deal love it and ASL I'm so glad I started taking classes when I became mom.. I feel Clint as mood the older I get
I like the fact Kate is getting it handed to her at times ..... makes it more realistic and it will show her improvement all around not just hand to hand but how to be better at street smarts and being shrewd
maya can mimic anyones physical movements, but she’s self taught while taskmaster on the other hand uses more technology and other advances which is the main difference between the two, and the handprint is a nod to her signature look from the comics which she refers to as her fathers last echo 🥲
I think Maya and Kazi grewed up together. He's the kid who lost first to the top student in the dojo. I think most of the Tracksuits are Polish along with Kazi. Maybe Kingpin loansharked them into making a group? I'm so excited to have the debut of Echo.
In the comics, Maya and Fisk do have a good relationship, until he lies and tells her that Daredevil killed her dad. (It was Fisk himself.) Then it becomes a Runaways/Pride situation where she’s hellbent on taking down his empire.
8:07 The hearing part of the ears and the equilibrium part of the ears are two seperate mechanisms. There's no overlap so Clint's fine in that regard. ;)
Zahn Mclarnon (Echo’s father, the good parent) is an amazing Lakota actor who stared in Longmire, The Forever Purge, Reservation Dogs, Fargo, and Westworld.
I really like when you pay attention to the details they have done in the ep like with the audio it did show us more of Clint’s pov with what he hears as it was confusing me as to what it’s like for him 😭💗
Why people sleep on Hawkeye is beyond me. I love this take on him as a regular everyday suburban dad who also happens to be the deadliest archer in the world. As an amateur archer I can tell you it’s a hard skill set. But is also one of the first real world combat skills. I would love if they eventually explain why Clint chooses to use the bow. He is beyond Olympic level for sure but why not more modern tools? In the comics, Hawkeye appeared decades after Green Arrow over at DC. But his wisecracking take no bs personality was so cool that DC comics actually made Green Arrow more like Hawkeye. Fun fact in the comics Hawkeye constantly second guesses Captain America and is always that dude in the Avengers meetings. However, deep inside he totally idolizes Cap and see him as the type of hero he would like to be. He just won’t ever let Cap know. 🤣😂
The MCU is really upping their villain game this phase. Reminds me of how the comics have started to reform a lot of former villains by humanizing them. Vulture has a granddaughter who’s a hero now. He was a villain, but a GREAT grandpa. Rhino is growing a soul. Sandman has been breaking at least neutral for years, and Doc Ock has genuine affection for Aunt May. The fact we’re getting villains we can understand, at least in the street level stuff, speaks well of the direction they’re taking things. We should get a FASCINATING Namor and Doctor Doom arc in the future. I personally think Namor is an ass, but I think someone like him would really shake things up. Not necessarily a “good” guy, but too powerful to simply vanquish. Someone they’ll have to reach some kind of accord with. Carol and Namor will either strike sparks or they’ll strike sparks. To be honest, I hope they hate each other. He should remind her of Kree arrogance. Doom will be interesting. One of the major flaws in both FF iterations was NO understanding of Doom’s character. He needs more of Fisk’s attributes. A genuine belief he’s doing right by his country and his people. That has to be at least as important to him as vengeance against Reed Richards. Marvel has some great villains with genuinely humanizing traits the MCU needs to lean into. “Comic book villain” is a trope originating in the golden and silver age of comics that no longer applies. Sure, there are plenty of mustache twirlers in the marvel canon, but even that can be done with the right elements. MCU Ultron was pretty much written on that level, but he was voiced so well it wasn’t as apparent as it might have been. He somehow brought an aspect of tortured humanity to a psychotic AI. Having villains with motives we can understand and somewhat sympathize with is a necessity going forward. This lack is what I think hurts the DECU, narratively at least. Thanos, for the record, was an idiot. All that power and genocide is his best solution. Starlord T’Challa did better WITHOUT the power of the Infinity Stones. Honestly, in places already suffering ecological issues, destroying half of all life wouldn’t be the least bit helpful. It could easily crash ecosystems. He’s a dumbass.
Not quite MCU, but the best version of Bullseye is the one from Daredevil S3. Comics Bullseye is just a murderous psycho with basically no confirmed back story. Even when he's been given one, he has later disavowed it. For the version in Netflix's Daredevil we at least got to see Bullseye before he went completely bonkers. He has a name and had a career, he's a real person.
@@MonicaCatapusan He's a spy just like the Black Widow. Misdirection is always play #1. They switched their focus on Kate which gave Clint the time he needed make his move.
The more I've thought about the candy, the more I think it's an innocent red herring. Armand is Jack's uncle, so it's not hard to believe he spends time over at his house and steals bunches of that candy while there. That actually makes more sense than taking the candy when you are there to murder your uncle. When murdering, people usually want to keep their contact with the surrounding environment rona minimum to prevent leaving evidence behind. At least, that's what decades to CSI style shows have taught us.
Seems obvious but I've noticed a lot of people don't seem to realize that Clint's hearing is completely gone in his right ear. That's why he only wears an earpiece in his left ear. After Maya damages it he's basically unable to hear at all.
So far I'm not seeing Maya mimicking their moves. I hope its shown more explicitly in the next episodes. Its cool to see a deaf character who uses a prosthetic leg. Minor detail but a big deal for disabled people I'm sure. Excited to see more of Maya in her own spinoff show 7:30 the way you just said that 😆🤣 i mean its a serious thing to fear but the way you delivered it was hilarious 😂
“Hawkeye” is part of Marvel Cinematic Universe {MCU} Phase 4. It is set a week before Christmas 2025; 2 years after “Avengers: Endgame”. In Maya’s flashback of the Karate Academy, there was a curly haired boy whom was brought down by an African-American boy. That curly haired kid is credited as Little Kazi in the end credits roll. It means they go way back as childhood friends. My own personal theory is Kate’s daddy; Derek Bishop faked his own death during the 2012 Chitauri Invasion - so that his wife could then claimed life insurance money. The Bishops were under severe financial duress at this point in time and contemplated selling their posh penthouse to stay afloat. Afterwards, Derek impersonated Jack Duquesne via a photostatic veil @ nano mask. We saw this tool of deception being used when Natasha Romanoff disguises herself as World Security Council member, Hawley toward the end of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. The real Jack Duquesne must have died in The Battle Of New York. I feel that Eleanor Bishop is the real mastermind who convinced her husband to fake his death and masquerade as Jack.
@6:05, even criminals got family that they love and love them. RIP Uncle. That said he was wearing a red tracksuit which means he was involved in some nefarious stuff. I don’t think Clint was out there randomly shanking people.
I know how to do it with duct tape: You just put your fists together, and push them down with your wrists. The friction will cause it to tear open. Thank you, Shark Tank!
Your balance organs are in your inner ear, but they're not functionally connected to your hearing. If you lose hearing due to repeated loud noise, like Clint, that doesn't affect your balance.
Actually think it’s more Marvel’s Version of Lethal Weapon where Kate Bishop is Riggs and Clint Barton is Murtaugh. The first Lethal Weapon happened during Christmas as well.
Last week I suggested Sharon Carter was the one who hired the Tracksuit Mafia. Obviously; I was wrong. If Fisk/ Kingpin asks you to do something; you do it, you don't ask questions.
Really love kate and Clints dynamic so far and Im gonna rewatch daredevil I know Kingpins laugh and that was definately his hand lol. Clint is the best dad ever I want him and his family to just be happy :(
Thankfully, hearing has nothing to do with balance. Damage to the ears can cause both deafness AND inner ear disturbance, but it’s not necessarily the case. Depends on the kind and level of damage, honestly. You can have inner ear disturbance without deafness, in fact. I had a Pomeranian whose high pitched bark could do that to me. Yeah, the dog could give me vertigo. And there’s nothing wrong with my hearing. As far as spatial awareness goes, yeah, I imagine that’s a challenge, especially for someone in Clint’s line of work. Since he wears the hearing aid in only one ear, that’s not even a fix. He SHOULD retire, as he’s physically compromised for that line of work without extensive retraining he has no reason to want to go through. Echo reminds me a little of DC’s Cassandra Cain, but not the seriously nerfed version in Birds of Prey. In the comics, movement is her first language. She reads body language and can react to attacks before they happen, knowing exactly what her opponent is about to do. They put a little of that in this version of Echo.
@14:35, if Clint starts using the Ronin sword and is aware of additional features that may reveal to Kate that he is Ronin. Also if Jack is who many of us think he is, he may have already figured it out as well.
There is tricks to tear duct tape, you should be able to find them on youtube, although it would probably be harder with it being anchored down the pony. If it was just her hands, it would be easy.
