After a few years I found a method that doesn't need disassembling. Unplug USB-C, press and hold Power, shortly after power indicator starts flashing red - release Power button for a moment then press and hold it again until red flashes stop, then release the button. Then just power on the laptop as usual (it takes a few seconds to start the first time). Works for me 100%. No more disassembling!
Thanks you soo much I got the book pro and I was like scared for a moment, I'm not really good with disassembling stuff and I followed your method and it works. I just want to thanks you sooo much like my stress was so down after it turn back on
You are my hero! In Ukraine we have war right now and non of the services are working. But you helped me to do it myself. Didn’t have all the needed instruments, but u kno, at this time all instruments can help! :) I’m infinitely thank you!
I'm another person thanking you for being virtually the only resource to reveal this fix. Same thing happened to me and this worked. Subbed and thanks.
First of all, thank you for this useful video. Your explanation helped me to get my laptop working, Regretfully, I had to repeat the fix 4 times, because the device would continue to fail after days or even hours. It is a great temporary fix, but it is does not cure the root problem. I tried removing the battery devices in the Windows device manger and reinstalling them. No effect, the device will still fail after a while. In a forum, I have read of people who have replaced the battery pack hoping to solve the issue. They reported that the problem came back. So, as long as we do not know what causes the issue and how to fix it permanently, we better keep our Torx 5 skrew driver ready.
See my comments here. I discovered a faster and less invasive solution. This keeps happening because of the battery but there's a way to correct it without damaging anything or doing surgery over and over again, as much as this video would've saved me from repairman inflicted days loss had I seen it sooner.
A year later: meanwhile I have applied this fix over 50 times, sometimes even twice a day. No advice that I have found on the net had long term benefits, including a complete reinstall. It is time to realize that I own a machine that is completely unreliable, that may fail any moment. It is also obvious that 小米 will not offer any support or solution. It was my fault buying a computer that has no support or service, outside of China.
You, sir, are the real MVP. I live in China, and I bought this laptop a few months ago and it is great but it has no tech support (most Xiaomi or other Chinese brand products are decent but don't have good support) and the repair center technicians here are kind of morons.. They think this problem is caused by some bad windows setting.. so they will eventually resort to re-installing your Windows, with or without your consent, in order to "permanently" fix it. This has happened to me 3 times, so far, recently (in the last 3-4 months), and the second time, a month ago... they wiped my windows install (with all my documents) thinking that restoring windows to default would fix the problem for good. As I suspected, it did not stop it from happening again, a few weeks later. They really pissed me off because I am sure that this process you explained is exactly what they did. And, once they restore power, the problem is officially fixed, there had to have been a time right then when they definitely could have called me to give me a chance to backup my data or something, or ask* me if* I wanted to go forward with re-setting windows. Anyway, after that time, I found this video and bought that torx toolset in case it happened again... and it did, yesterday. I followed your video, went in and fixed it, just like you said. Well done. Some things you might want to add are that the specific torx tool bit you want to use is the T5.. that's the star-shaped one that's the correct size for the laptop case's screws. I wasted a few minutes testing all of the star-shaped ones that looked* like they might fit but didn't. Also, you should specify that others want to stick the plastic tool between the grey and black areas of the laptop back piece, when trying to open it up. I might be an idiot for it, but I had a hard time opening it initially because I wasn't sticking the plastic tool exactly against they grey backing.. I was sticking it in useless places until I got a good look at it with my phone light. You can't really see* inside that space well enough to know where the separation occurs, until you've done this once or twice before. You also might want to go closer up and pan around where you connect and disconnect the battery connector. I can imagine that to some people that looks very confusing. It all looks like indistinct circuit guts from far away. Good video, though. I knew* it was this simple. This is kind of a common laptop problem but its way more inconvenient for a laptop with an internal battery that isn't designed to be swapped out.
Thank you for this wonderful guide, It did work for me. My current laptop has some screen problems so I'm using this one for now and I thought it's over when it stopped charging. You've saved me!

Thanks this is awesome! Not a lot of info on this laptop so any more videos on this topic would be great. I didn't have this issue, but mine is the laptop's bezel is a little loose and kind of pops out - maybe a slight manufacturing issue of some kind. I haven't attempted to repair but I am wondering if it is a common issue and if others have it too. It is not even a aesthetic issue since you cannot see it, only feel a slight pop when I touch the bezel next to the webcam. I am more worried about it as a long term structural issue for the screen/bezel.

I used this fix two times and it worked. The third time Tha laptop never came back. Even after removing the battery and replugging it, the charge light will show and the laptop is just inresposive, idk what to do
Did you fixed it? after 2 years of usage I had that problem and took service (costs ~80eur) there are some problems with electronic parts on motherboard. I heard that is probably connected with high temperature of processor ( I played video games long hours and motherboard, videocard gets kicked hard) after whole year I had the same problem and now I use this tutorial. It's a lot of problem during 3 years of usage especially if we consider that I usually have fan problem
Ye, nice solution if you need to make laptop work for some more time. Unfortunately, it's not fix for original problem, just a type of workaround. So, this issue will happen again and again... Is there way to fix original problem? Cause I don't like an idea to always take my toolkit with me to make my laptop work.
HOLD EVERYTHING: This fix was great and this tut was 10/10. The Torx toolset can be bought on Taobao too if you're IN China. But this problem keeps happening and it wears down your laptop frame to keep opening up your laptop to fix it this way. If laptops were modular like they used to be, you could just swap out the battery, purge the power and snap it back in. You only have to open it because the battery is embedded internally on most laptops now, making this issue bigger than the cause actually is (an issue with the battery power reading). This repair also takes at least 30 minutes to do carefully. If you rush it you could seriously damage something. I found a solution (accidentally) that fixes the problem in seconds and doesn't (appear to) cause other problems. It might, but I've avoided surgery now about 5 times with no apparent consequences. Here it is: Whenever you end up unable to come out of standby, which seems to be triggered by unplugging things while in standby or during the transition. This laptop doesn't like hardware changes during standby but even if you didn't do anything wrong, it can sometimes get stuck in standby after a long time. You can can fix this and get your laptop to turn on if you interrupt the battery circuit (the same thing removing it and purging power with the power switch does). You reset the laptop to a state of having been shut down... by taking the power plug connector (the metal portion of course) and contacting (touching metal to metal) it with the connectors in the USB ports on the left of the laptop. I usually use the forward USB. When you have contacted the power connector to the USB connector successfully, which only takes one good try and a few seconds, the power light will stop flashing (which it does in standby/sleep mode) and you will know that the sleep mode its stuck in has been interrupted. You may then press the power button normally and the laptop starts up as if it had been previously shut down. You will lose whatever was open and unsaved before you put it in standby, because it's effectively a hard shut down, but it will turn back on and function normally if you do this, every time the standby mode gets stuck and you're unable to turn the laptop back on. The problem seems permanent with this laptop, but this solution makes it less of a big deal or time consuming problem. You're back up in seconds and don't need to make an effort not to provoke your laptop into a standby coma, like I was doing in order not to have to open it up again and again. This solution I'm suggesting doesn't seem to cause any damage or data loss, at least not the first 10 times you do it. I'll let you know if 11+ causes any issues.
I can explain.. and also I have found that you DONT need it connected to a power source. You take the connector end of the Type C power cable from your laptop and you touch it gently inside the USB port of your laptop. There's two ways you can tell it worked: the blinking light on your laptop stops blinking and turns off.. or any other USB device you habeplugged into the other USB loses power. That indicates that the power circuit has been interrupted and, for purposes of this issue, the battery is no longer confused. When that happens you should be able to press the power button and start it back up.
Sorry for late reply. I haven't checked in a while but I could post a video if you guys really need me to. It's fairly simple though: if your laptop has gotten stuck in standby, the power light blinks and it won't respond to any waking touches.. then the battery has been confused. You take the metal connector end of any type C cord ( such as on the cord end you usually plug into the laptops power port) and stick it into the USB port gently and as close to the inside wall of it as you can. Be gentle, it only needs to touch it. The blinking should stop with the power light off the instant you've made contact. It does NOT need to be plugged into a power source for this to work. Wait a second after the contact and press power. It should start up again.
Hey guys, I have had the exact same problem with my Xiaomi Notebook numerous times and the fix detailed in this video definitely works. However I seem to have found a much easier fix recently which I want to share with my fellow Xiaomi Notebook users that does not require you to open up your computer every time. This basically prevents the problem from occurring in the first place and so far worked for me every time. It's very simple, when you start your computer, instead of pressing the power button shortly and letting go, simply hold the power button until the white light next to it starts and your computer is on. Most of the time your computer will start immediately without any problem, but as you all know sometimes this is not the case and nothing happens with this Xiaomi Notebook when you press the power button. In that case keep the power button pressed and eventually the light does go on and the laptop starts as normal, in my case this takes around 10 seconds. This works for me and is a big relief, which is why I wanted to share this with all of you. Let me know if this also works for you guys.
Thank you for making this video. I have tried this solution and, for an unknown reason, it won't work. It keeps restarting before going to BIOS. Do you know, by chance, where is the CMOS battery located?
my laptop kept getting stuck in standby and I got tired of the morons at the shop resetting my Windows as that didn't solve or help the issus. I did this fix a fee times And figured it's invasive and time consuming too.. takes a while to do it carefully.. But I discovered a less invasive ans way faster solution about 4 months ago: take any Type C charger's connector, Ike the one on this laptops power supply and contact it inside either of the USB ports. This instantly esets the battery circuit so you can start it up again and doesn't seem to cause damage to the USB ports. You will lose any unsaved data you were working on but I've not noticed any USB port issues though. I guess some might disagree that this is harmless but it works and spares you the time and physical damage to your laptop.
Also, when you do that, the type C cord does NOT need to be connected to a power source, as I originally thought it did. I tried it while the power cord wasn't plugged in to any electrical outlet and it still worked.
Very nice tutorial! Did you have any problems importing the device to France? The eu has some strict guidelines like the CE Logo and since I live in Germany the same „rules“ apply for me as well.
Thank you :) No problem at all. Just avoid using DHL and private transporters. they always declare products so you will have to pay customs and taxes. The only "problem" is to convert windows from chinese to german. (not a real problem but take time)
Yeah I've read about that. Many advise to use "expedited shipping" (for me called "Germany Express"), do you have experience with that or what shipping method did you choose on Gearbest? (I figured you used Gearbest because you have the link in your french videos hah). Also did you get a EU plug adapter or did you have to buy one extra?
i choose to power off the nvidia graphic card except for vieo games... you can manage it through your nvidia settings ! (i'm on linux but i'm sure you can find tons of help for windows as well)
Does the led beside the plug turn on at any stage? Laptop won't work after trying this method so gave up. I tried it again after a few months of storage but this time the led came on red for about 5 seconds and went off again. Now there nothing happening at all
i have a similar problem, when I try to turn on, the led of the power blink, and if I press the button for about 10 second it's turn on, but the pc not started, also the fun is on because I heard the noise I can repair with your tutorial?
Did you upgrade your copy of windows to pro or did you completely wipe the laptop? I am hoping to upgrade to pro and then download the english language pack. How is the laptop other then this incident?
Some of the windows installs for certain countries, China, France, and some others, have a special and limited version of windows 10. Why, who they heck knows.. but they're incompatible with language packs and system language conversions so you can't simply switch the windows language and you need a new windows 10 install. That's what I had to do for my XiaoMi laptop i bought in China. It had a China-special edition of win 10 and a friend back home helped me get a hold of US EN windows 10 pro.. which I have to re-install whenever my PC gets reset.. which has only happened once, so far.
It's a good laptop, in general. This problem is kinda common in laptops, so I wouldn't hold it against this one specifically. It used to happen to my Toshiba before this, but that had a battery pack I just swapped out and back in, in less than a minute. It seems like a common problem but it's especially inconvenient on laptops that don't have an easily removable battery module.. which seems to be more and more of the new models, these days. T_T They want you to rely on going to see the repair guy for every little tiny problem that you have to go inside to see or fix.
ANOTHER SOLUTION: Well only halfway though. I tried this and it didn't work, BUT what I did is to connect an external monitor and my windows did boot normally on the external monitor, but still nothing on my laptop monitor. I configurated an Linux USB stick and changed in BIOS to boot from the stick . VOILA the screen worked again! I installed Ubuntu now as my OS . Guess the problem lies with an windows update on windows 10. I know this is not the solution everyone is searching for but at least the laptop is usable again this way. I will search for more solutions concerning an fix for WIndows 10 and keep you guys posted. Hang in there .... I read somewhere that this problem occurs quite frequently for Windows 10 Versions with the number 1903 and 1809. I got the 1809 but no solution so far... PS: Another problem that I had was that the keyboard backlight did not work! PS1: I did not try the to reinstall Windows or do troubleshooting or safe mode yet! UPDATE: After a month or so I saw in the Windows updates that there is an option to update to a newer windows version 1909. I did this over an external screen and the internal screen was still black. Then I worked on Linux again for well over a month and after that my computer suddendly started working again, also with Windows! I hope yours will also just start working again!
Im having issue with my xiaomi notebook pro after heaver load its switches off temps reaches 75 on cpu and its swiches itself off.. Thermo paste are replaced fans are cleaned. Still having the issue... :/
I had this problem 3 times in 2 weeks, perhaps 6 or 7 times in total. I would like to know if changing the battery can solve the problem, or if there is any long term solution.

Thanks so much for this, it solved my problem perfectly. Really appreciate it as I didn't want to ship my laptop off to Hong Kong for the second time
Sadly the problem will return...

Thank you bro it works 🙏
thank you, we have the same laptop, does your laptop keep on freezing?
It worked, you saved my day! Thanks a lot
You saved my life, thank you
Merci, ça fonctionne aussi avec le Air 13 tu viens de sauver mon PC !
Très bon tutorial merci !
La même chose pour démonter l'écran ? :)
Yep it works fine. Thank you good sir.
You have saved me. Thank you so much
Absolute lifesaver mate!
Ye, nice solution if you need to make laptop work for some more time. Unfortunately, it's not fix for original problem, just a type of workaround. So, this issue will happen again and again... Is there way to fix original problem? Cause I don't like an idea to always take my toolkit with me to make my laptop work.
Don't buy Chinese ! Buy Russian :)
Perfect m8, worked like a charm. Thanks so much for sharing. Big hug
What a legend! That worked!
It works! Thank you!
Hi.thank you so much because of your experience. I did this many time but I haven't got it and it hasn't worked yet.could you please help me?
thank you so much
it really works
Thanks, good video

I just held power around 30s and it is working right now.
Thank you mate
Here it is:
Whenever you end up unable to come out of standby, which seems to be triggered by unplugging things while in standby or during the transition.
Hi DonSpartan, can you make a short video about the process ? I don't really understand how you do the trick with the USB connector. Thank you
I tried but I couldn't do it. Could you show us with a video? I would really appreciate.
Hi, I would like a video too
I can explain.. and also I have found that you DONT need it connected to a power source.
It should start up again.
it worked perfectly! thanks! merci bien, mon ami!
This video really save my day ! Thank a lot !
Hello I've got the same problem, which size are the torx screws
Sir, thank you so much. God send you to me and your video helped me!
Is this a permanent fix or only temporary?

Many thanks for your concern. i can't not open laptop as video. so your opinion really help me to much.
This is great! It worked for me!
But what to do when always showing the battery charge is 0 and without plugging the charger it doesn't turn on. Showing me power mode😢
Works for me too. Thank you!!!
Thank you for making this video. I have tried this solution and, for an unknown reason, it won't work. It keeps restarting before going to BIOS. Do you know, by chance, where is the CMOS battery located?
Fixed it! thanks. Does anyone else get this multiple times? in that case I can't rely on this laptop :( Hope it doesn't reoccur.
my laptop kept getting stuck in standby and I got tired of the morons at the shop resetting my Windows as that didn't solve or help the issus.
@@DonSpartan I have this problem, do you basically short the usb power? Is that correct?
Very nice tutorial! Did you have any problems importing the device to France? The eu has some strict guidelines like the CE Logo and since I live in Germany the same „rules“ apply for me as well.
Thank you :)
No problem at all.
Thank you very much. I'm from Brasil and you helped me a lot. It has worked wonderfully, i was a bit skeptical at first.
Do you have any issues with fan noise? I find mine is quite noisy and id like to replace. Would be great if you did a repair video!
i choose to power off the nvidia graphic card except for vieo games... you can manage it through your nvidia settings ! (i'm on linux but i'm sure you can find tons of help for windows as well)
Thank you so much!❤
thank you so much, you're the best
Does the led beside the plug turn on at any stage? Laptop won't work after trying this method so gave up. I tried it again after a few months of storage but this time the led came on red for about 5 seconds and went off again.
Now there nothing happening at all
I have the some laptop with the same problem...
Why it happened?
How about the size of the Torx tool?

Thank you bro
nice channel! keep it up!
i have a similar problem, when I try to turn on, the led of the power blink, and if I press the button for about 10 second it's turn on, but the pc not started, also the fun is on because I heard the noise I can repair with your tutorial?
It works!
Work method! Thk!!!!
My laptop had the exact same problem, its the Mi Horizon and I don't know if I should do this or not is this safe?
It helped. Thanks a lot
Hi. Thx for the video, but isn't working for me. When I remove the electricity and then plug the cable nothing happens. Do you have any idea?
Same with me. Unfortunately didn't help
Did you solve the issue?
@@artemis1747 no, had to send it back to China
Thank you!
Thanks a ton
How much is the life span for these batteries? 4 years?
