My immediate thoughts were exterior i prefer the old model and interior new model but new model seems like a headache old model it is

I think the current 2 M-Sport is the best looking regular BMW currently, and M2 is the best looking BMW.

Haven’t been in the new 2 series but the new G series 3 series plastics and various trim panels are cheaper than the older G series 3 series and the rap around screen is horrid and is simply attached to the old dashboard with cheap plastic brackets. If you look behind it you can still see the old instrument panel. Alpina have got it right and kept the older dashboard

Just bought a 230i msport xdrive in Brooklyn Grey. It’s a fantastic car! Quick, fun, great tech, handling, excellent mpg, and luxury all in one. It’s not a family car it’s a fun daily for two or one person.
My M3 e46 same size car bigger inside won’t depreciate and is £380 road tax.

It’s not a good product decision to move everything away from physical controls to digital and voice control. It’s not very user centric design in my opinion, but I suspect this maybe driven by trying to “keep up” with the competition and rushed implementation. Also penny pinching is a factor since digital is always easier to implement, and potentially not as much to go wrong and more software controls and updates can be applied for more functionality in future. I get why manufacturers do it but I feel there can be better ways to implement a solution to the problem. As always fantastic review Ben!

Ive had my F22 m240i for 8 months now and ive done 8000 miles in it. Super happy with pretty much all aspects, and economy has been surprisingly good. I get around 35mpg commuting and can get 39-40mpg on the motorway. The ZF gearbox is surprisingly good too.
Certainly wouldnt spend twice as much for a bigger, heavier, slower and uglier version with no buttons.
Reminded me of when Clarkson fell out with the BMW M5 in the 00s! 💻

I have a 2024 220i in Thundernight purple which has had plenty of admiring glances and comments but the downside is the excessive road tax given how poor the roads are!
100% worth the upgrade
I thought newer cars were meant to be better for the environment so why is the tax soo high?

I had 2019 240i loved that car especially with a new born but it stared to hurt my partners back so I had to change it for mk4 focus st estate miss the 240i tho

Having driven 2 brand news cars recently, I am dreading the way we are heading with technology in cars. Touchscreens that stop working randomly, basic features hard to find, car freaks out when it thinks you're about to crash. They're too 'smart' for their own good. Give me buttons and dials everytime.

Hey this is my car! Mama we made it haha gonna show my wife when she's up / I agree with the gripes with the screen and voice assistant! Mine is a 2023 (U.S Version) and has 255 HP/ 295 Torque, quite the difference!
The thing that would discourage me from the new 2 series is the fact that you could get a previous gen 240i for significantly less and the 240 sounds fantastic and is mega fast or for the same money you could get a slightly used M2 competition
i dont know but i have seat toledo m1 95 model engine swap vr5 or v5 and still eats the tires :) as my father used to say the less electronics you have the better for you
It definitely looks like they saved money on the switches and spent it on the rest of the interior, but that clearly comes with its downsides!
I hate using touch screen as fingerprints are so visible. I rather use voice control and buttons in my car.
Are kids in the UK supposed to be buckled up backwards in the rear seat? I never seen that before :). On topic: the G42 is a mean full-grown bulky car with the latest tech onboard. However, I can't help keep staring at my F22 when leaving a parking lot. I don't know if I would get the same feeling on the new one.
No she’s legally able to go forward facing but I like these Swedish plus tested seats :)
