Here in Canada, plantains are put on clearance when they get dark! Since they are imported, they cost a bit more... But the funny thing is that the grocery stores think the plantains are bad when they are dark. They are just ready to eat as a dessert! I really enjoyed this video. My beloved Dominican boyfriend is going to show me how to cook plantains; he used to work as a cook, and now on weekends he BBQ's pork all night Saturday and sells it on Sunday mornings. It is INCREDIBLY delicious! I have never had pork like that in my life! The skin is soooo crispy and it is incredibly mouth watering. I will be put to work to help him with the BBQ next time I am there and I am incredibly excited about it. But I will not be killing the pigs; he can do that. It would be nice to invest in some sort of agriculture in the Dominican.
Yes plantains are ready to eat when they are brown. The BBQ pork sounds good. What city does your boyfriend live in? Eating pork is good but I cant kill it either...lol
@@NorberisR Chico Divertigo lives in the Imbert area. Yes he barbecues the pig whole, stays up all night with it and then sells it on Sunday mornings. After that he is exhausted!
As usual with your videos, this video is ultra-specific with details and the costs of each stage of a project. Your generous sharing of so much information will, I believe, help bring you success with your farming project. Thank you!
Thank you. If you have any tips on planting plantain feel free to share them. I'm learning this as we go although we do have people who do this for living working on the land.
Good idea. There are a lot of opportunities for profitable investments in DR. Take your pic...lol! I agree with you to start looking now for those opportunities.
@@NorberisR agriculture is a very sensative topic given the current climate change, not a good time for farmers &crops . i hope with the help of your dad you can gain some more knowledge .thank you !
Lol...more than you know(-: It sounded sporadic but it wasn't. We lost way too much money the first time around moving back DR due to lack of planning. God willing we will not make that mistake again(-: Thank you Jodah❤
Hi thanks, this was a great videos-hat is the estimated harvest weight and around how much would you be able to sell them for if you went to market today?
Quite a lot of work to make the land ready for growing vegatables. We have klay soil were we are growing vegatables on.. rich grounds but very hard when they are dry and a disater when it is wet of lots of rain..:))
@@NorberisR No Norberis... I am from the Netherlands in the central area, but still have my Domenican girlfriend who is in hospital in Santo Domingo...recovering.
Nice!!!! This reminds me of North Florida. Lol. What I didn't realize are the rocks in the soil. I thought it would have been a little muddy. Can foreigners own agricultural land?
There is no irrigation system per se we get the our water from the government. They deliver the water. In my next video I will show you how we water the crop.

Awesome. How was Punta Cana? When I was there in July it was a ghost town.
This is great to see. Thank you for allowing me to see real business being done. I can’t wait to be there in 3 years

We haven't harvested yet to know this. We have a guesstimate as to what we expect.
What was the original costs for the land?
The land was secured by my father.

What is the income from this after harvest ?
We haven't harvested yet. When we do I will let my viewers know.
Hi, how can I get the plantains sackers? Can you help me with that?
When you say sackers are you referring to root that you plant to grow the plantain? There are places that sell these.
