I literally listened to this song everyday on the school bus with my walkman LOL
I was lucky and had an iPod. Think this was the first digital purchase/soundtrack I ever got. Miss you early 2000’s.
Same
This was my ringtone on my Cingular flip phone
I had the infamous MP3 Player for this bad boy
Definitely on the blue and silver Panasonic CD player lmao good shit
Just saw these guys live last month. Met them before the show. It was my 13 y/o’s first ever concert. Justin talked with him before the show and then during the last song - this song - they had an unnatural pause during the bridge where Justin thanked the crowd and at the end of the shout-outs he called out my son and talked to him from the stage for a solid 15-20 seconds right before coming back in and finishing the song.
It was the most magical first concert experience that someone could have. Great show by the MCS crew. A truly special night for my kid and me.
Woahhh!
That’s awesome ❤ I’ll never forget how iconic these guys were in my thirteen y/o self eyes. Experiencing that first time at warped tour!! Just like your son will never forget that. Took my little sis ten years ago, and got a great photo together with Justin too. The smile on her face is priceless!! Always love MCS 🤟🙌
That's so amazing😭 I didn't even know they were still together! My middle school self is jealous😍
that's so fuckin cool man
That's awesome! The whole band is super cool like that
Who's here because this is a great song that still needs to be listened to here and there years later?
Basically.
Still not the same as playing in my CD player on my way too school skipping each time we go over a speed bump... lol member berries
2019 Checking in
Definitely. Hearing it all these years after it came out makes me wonder if the future is as bad as Betty was afraid it might be
🤙
Too all us skaters, emo kids, goth kids, etc. We lived through some great times. I love this band. Being the only black guy in my school who was skating listing to this band, Pantera, Slipknot, you know. Means so much to me still. Huge part of my life.
100% literally such an amazing time
Glad to have you here dude! Im so happy for you as strange that may be haha but rock on dude 🤟✨️
Hell yeah man Rock on !!!🤘
I feel like I was one of the flex mixed girls in this scene in my school oh how I miss those days... Such good times
*We fail to represent, we fail to be content, we fail at everything we ever even try to attempt.*
Sums up my life pretty well.
Yeah same
Totally agree I feel ya
Right when I scrolled down to this that line played lol
How could this song not be a HUGE hit?
copelarry it was when I was in high school 10 years ago or so 👍🏿😂
Pursuit of Hypiness no way never much of a radio hit, and that’s probably what he means. Motion city soundtrack (criminally) never got airplay only mtv and college campus play. Not even “Everything is Alright”
@@undergroundkingz7969 Used to play in Denver, Co on 93.3.
Yeah. Remember that I got touch on them a ONG Cartoon Network comercials with DJ Martin. But cable TV was way too expensive on Brazil so maybe I got a super luck on that time to have CN.
@@undergroundkingz7969 everything is alright was literally my anthem in highshool, and no one knew who they were in my small Tennessee town!
When I went off to the Army at age 19, Justin made a video for me, wishing me safety and good luck while I was over there. I had grown up listening to this band, and I was deeply touched by his gesture. It was exhilarating and helped me through some very difficult times. Thank you for saving my life, Justin
These lyrics pop into my head quite often. I'M ON FIRE!
crashthestash WE FAILED AT EVERYTHING WE EVER EVEN TRIED TO ATTEMPT
crashthestash AND NOW I THINK IM READY TO *BUST* A MOVE
Several times a day this happens to me
Guide to true happiness:

When you get in a car crash: I'm on FIRE
I’m turning 35 next week and still love this record as much as I did when I was 17. I come back and watch this video and My Favorite Accident at least once a year.
Dude, I've just became 35! Same here.
Exact same. Happy 35!
@Brackish I meant I come back and watch the videos, I still listen to the full album all the time on Spotify. The singles are great, but the deep cuts are where it’s at. Modern chemistry is my favorite song of theirs!
this song is so great when your left headphone is broken
Kiwiø The Great why?
The audio is actually awful on high end headphones I hear all the scratching on the recording and it sounds terrible. It's still good music though.
I understand your pain
@@jebril my studio monitors are giving off these horrible crackling sounds where either the audio is peaking or the file is broken.
It never does that with the audio files for this song or anything else.
me too LMAO
Some guy played this on a Garry's mod server using a jukebox plugin, and now I'm addicted. Bless up to you if you're reading this. Ily bb

+Griffinnn89 papi is this really you?
Yes son, it is I. Go forth and prosper sweet child.

I’m on fire and now I think I’m ready to bust a move
Check it out I’m rocking steady
Go!
Betty won’t stop listening to modern rock
How she hates to be alone
I try to compensate her lack of love with coffee cake
Ice cream and a bottle of ten dollar wine she says hey
I rock the Haro sport
I rock the cow girl blues
I rock too fast for love I’m footloose in my Velcro shoes
What’s up with Will and Grace?
I don’t get drum and bass
The future freaks me out
I’m on fire and now I think I'm ready to bust a move
Check it out I’m rocking steady
To the beat in my head
It goes oh, oh-oh-oh
I know that she’s the only one
I’d rather waste our time together
Yeah, ‘cause we can get down
Betty can’t quit carving question marks in my wrist
How come we’re so alone
We waste away the days with nicotine and television samples
From an era we hate to admit we embrace
We fail to represent
We fail to be content
We fail at everything we ever even try to attempt
And so the story goes
As only Betty knows
It’s time to take control
(Get Down)
I’m on fire and now I think I'm ready to bust a move
Check it out I’m rocking steady
To the beat in my head
It goes oh, oh-oh-oh
I know that she’s the only one
I’d rather waste my time with her
Betty, I need you
I miss you
I’m so alone without you
To call up on the weekends with my cellular phone
Betty it’s so hard to relate
To the whole human race
I don’t know where to begin
I don’t know where to begin
If we can both find a way
To do the things that we say
We might not sit in our rooms
And drink our daydreams away
Betty, I’m a dreamer
I’m not a vicious schemer
Oh Betty won’t you.. ah fuck it
I’m on fire and now I think I'm ready to bust a move
Check it out I’m rocking steady
To the beat in my head
It goes oh, oh-oh-oh
I know that she’s the only one
I’d rather waste our time together
Yeah, ‘cause we can get down.
The future freaked me out (or I thought it did) when I was 12, hearing this song for the first time. Now I'm 28 and it still freaks me out. I swear Motion City is one of the only bands from my adolescence that hits me as hard as it did back then. Growing up and dealing with life, death, shit, relationships, and everything has made this bands music MORE relatable to me over time. Everything they put out still holds up. Thank you for the tunes. We love you.
Ditto …!
This band is criminally underrated
I don't think people realize how much genius this band is! Miss these albums
Now in my 30s, I have loved MCS since my late teens.
Very unique and emotionally expressive content. I hope they don't quit.
I still have my promo copy of this album from my intern days with record labels. Great memories and loads of ramen/del taco.
Hey, dude. Might seem a little odd to ask this here, in RUclips comments, of all places, but is there a chance I could ask you a few questions about these intern positions you held at any of these labels you mention? Perhaps, *elsewhere* - like besides RUclips comments hahah
This album was playing on the radio all of the night I was born. My dad listened to it when he and my mom where at the hospital, and now it is requested that I play it on my birthday at least once!
2020 listeners wya? Had a friend tell me about these guys, never heard them until now
Saw them in concert in 8th grade here in 2005. Still listening lol
what's up bro
Been listening to them since i saw them on FUSE.. however long ago that was.
Anyways, welcome to the party!
Saw them in ruston la in 2008 with the hush sound, phantom planet, and panic at the disco
Warped tour 2003 compilation introduced me, saw them live in 2005, 2008, and 2016. Still in my top ten. Go see them live if they ever tour again, you won’t regret it.
Thanks for all the memories and all the kickass shows!
When I was young I started a habit when I was scared or in an uncomfortable situations. I would sing certain songs in my head and this one is the long running one .
SAMEEEE
My favorite accident is stumbling across this song after her words destroyed my planet.
I cant even believe this is for real!
cheeky
now you just sound like cleverbot lol
I half expected this comment to be from 2009 tbh
I just saw them this week at Bogarts, and this song and concert were beautiful
So much nostalgia.
Seeing them tonight in Fort Worh, TX. I Am the Movie 20th Anniversary Tour!!
Lucky! How was it?
The songs has basically been the soundtrack of my subconscious for the last decade.
one of the best songs easily by them
I miss these guys :C Wouldn't have made it through my teen years without them.
This is the first time I'm hearing this band and I'm 54 how did I missed it I have no freaking clue but I'm in love with the guitar Lick in this tune and I'm thinking it was probably around in the 90s and I missed it but I'm in love with the guitar lick it's a lovely Melody it's very mood evoking well hey what a pleasant surprise who'd have thought I'd have found a new band even though they're not new but who'd have thought I'd have come across a band I hadn't heard before that I'd fall instantly in love with and they are truly outstanding and in love with their Style I want to hear more more more more more more then I also want to tell him what to do with their music too
I'm mean really what is up with Will and grace
Derek Myers dude like the future freaks me out
i mean c'mon, i truly don't get drum and bass.
I found this song when I was ultimately looking for OK Go's "Here it goes again" and liked it much better. Years later, Justin and the gang are still my favorite band.
I remember seeing them on the Honda Civic tour. So embarrassing (not really) that the twentysomething in me still relates to the twelve-year old me's fave line, "Betty, it's so hard to relate, to the whole human race! I don't know where to begin, I don't know where to begin... If we could both find a way to-- Aww, fuck it!"
no way! i was there man, i got 2 tix for my 12th birthday.... i went for Panic at the disco, but left with Motion city soundtrack, cobra starship, and the hush sound stuck in my head! i was so pumped that my step dad agreed to buy a cd from each of them. i think Article A played too. so nostalgic, i still cherish those albums....well, maybe not cobra starship but low n behold that CD is still in my possesion to this day! ahhh, GABE.
@@shannonkelley6073 love cobra starship and motion city soundtrack, the golden emo days of decaydance 🤘😍🖤
if it weren't for my dads amazing music taste I wouldn't also have amazing music taste so I definitely have to thank him for raising me on amazing music
2020 still listening 🤘
i found this song on spotify like a year or two ago and it randomly came across my head and im glad it did i still love it 💕
Had an anxiety attack at work today and this song was stuck in my head the whole time. Couldn't remember how the line "betty it's so hard [ ??? ] to the whole human race" so I had to listen to it now to remember lol
"Betty it's so hard to relate to the whole human race", hope all is well
so underated and so good
Motion City Soundtrack
2020 ! MCT one of my favorite bands !
Listening to this in 2021 an it hits home. After 2020 the future freaks me out more than before
This is catchy overload. It’s absurd this song wasn’t on every single radio station across the world
Just sang the whole song with out screwing up!!!!
Joseph Caskey here you deserve this like
Saw them in concert a few times. Once they yelled out: "Can you guys sing the rest of the whole song??" at the bridge. It was amazing, but no, the crowd could not quite do it.
@@nameforcomments4092 That's sad! This is their crowd engagement song. Saw them a couple of months ago and the crowd went nuts!
I used to listen to these guys all the time and then modern baseball referenced them and brought me back.
For like years I thought the lyrics in the first verse were "bet he won't stop listening to modern rock oh, she hates the beat alone" but apparently it's "Betty won't stop listening to modern rock oh, she hates to be alone" ohmygod I'm so stupid 😂
i thought it was " bet it won't szuyhvn messing the xgifjmovp'n funk she hits the beat oh no".........
From hearing this song at 15 and now being in my mid thirties...it still slaps and the future STILL freaks me out
Justin Pierre was such a keanu reeves of the punk scene for me LOL.
Im always glad and happy to hear music like this
Damn man.. I still listen to this stuff.. Will forever be one of my favorite bands.
Me and my Uber driver rocked out to this yesterday. I forgot about it. Such a good song.
Damn it you guys! Thanks for all the memories and great music. Farewell tour is going to be super bittersweet:-(
This album is absolutely perfect
I watched this video on Fuse way back in the day, I really liked it. I was not expecting the emotional roller coaster I was getting into by becoming a fan. It’s 2021 and I still adore MCS but I’d be damn liar if I said I haven’t cried my eyes out several times to their music
Who is here in 2019?
And are you watching on your cellular phone?
no one cares what year it is.
I saw them live at Bamboozled in jersey back in 2008 and they were so awesome! It’s 2021 and I still love their music!
fuckin’ bamboozled 😂 ty for that memory
This is one of my favorite songs
This song is 15 years old and it's still better than most music today! Man, I was in my first year of college when this came out!
I got an autograph from these guys Warped Tour 2006!
I came here just to hear the part where he says "ah fuck it" & they cut it out
I remember seeing them in warped tour when they first signed with epitaph it was a great set
I was out at the family lake house with no internet back when we still used MySpace and my cousins were singing this song all week. It still pops in my head sometimes.
why does this not have a million views?
Such a cool beat!
Who used to jam out to this in their car in high school, scared about the coming years and impending adulthood and now, almost 20 years later, are still rocking out to this, still not sure if they're adulting right? Oh.
I’ve had the opening of this song stuck in my head since 2014
Iconic in such a way I couldn’t possibly articulate it to someone that wasn’t part of this whole genre
Seriously though. I graduated high school the day I Am the Movie came out and was late to the ceremony coming from the record store. It's literally a song I can listen to and remember so much
Seen them live in Pittsburgh in 06 still love the song! Good vibes 😎
It was such a flex to call Betty on your cellular phone in 2003. Love this album as much as I did as a teen!
This song still slaps 18 years later
Such a Classic!
This is they're last tour......fuck im old.....still love them though, they sing to my life.
tfw the song matches your feelings exactly. I love them
THIS SONG GETS ME SO HYPE! I'll dance to this over EDM any day.
I had this come on Spotify randomly and it took me back to the early 2000s. It had probably been a decade since I last heard it and its still a banger
I saw Motion City Soundtrack open for All American Rejects back in the day and I immediately bought their CD the next day.
I remember finding this song while listening to music on one of my schools library computers. Can't remember the name of the site but I remember immediately after school I drove two towns away to the nearest Hastings to pick up the CD.
it supersizes me that this isn't as popular. Doesn't matter, best song.
29 and still play this (almost) every day.
I have been in love with these guys since 2005 and I am so excited and so sad at the same time to see them tonight for the last time
The best time of my life. Together with this music..so epic.
SO GOOD.
i remember when I saw them open for P!ATD many years ago...their songs will always be great to me
I’ll be going to see them in February I can’t wait
Band so damn good they have to keep it hidden from the normies. Loved seeing you guys at The Orange Peel. Thanks for the amazing night.
This song is so good
Im almost 26 now and ive been listening to this for years and still loves it
god i stll love this song so much
2024... The future did not freak us all out as much as we needed it to...
I fear the worst is yet to come.
This song still makes sense.
Remember, time enjoyed is not time wasted, let's waste it together so we can get down.

To me, in my head, this is the most played song on Ted Mosby's playlist.
I remember my friend in high school burned this album on a CD for me. The REAL days.
These guys were so good at making a second round to their songs.
I love this song so much oml
This song is very prevalent in 2020...
only 1 mil views is a crime.
Still a solid jam! Teenage playlists❤❤❤
First song I heard from them a decade + ago still love it.
I’m sad as fuck rn... and this song is keeping it together.
Aha.. RIP @ my youth.
Favorite song of all time.
this song gets stuck in my head too often
