I always thought chum was brighter than what the show made him out to be. The transactions may be 100% real but a fair proportion of everything else on the show is staged for entertainment value. If your family has a history of buying and selling and it's something you grew up around, then naturally your going to have good instinct in this line of work. Fair enough on this episode it was the customers idea, but his family must trust and respect him enough to authorise a $24000 transaction.
