honestly this is so cool, as a kid i never had the chance to be able to complete any pokedex and now that im older and able to buy old consoles and old games i definitely feel the need to buy all the games and finally complete what i always wanted to do as a child, all thanks to this man right here named John, thanks for giving me the courage to pursue this dream again!

Cherrim setting up Sunny day is actually benificial for you. Once flower gift is active you get a special defense boost for you and your party members, basicly negating the sun boosted damage by reshiram but also you and your party gets an attack boost

This was my first time ever participating in a Subathon, and it was really fun the whole way through. Also I got to make a lot of enemies when I won mario party in one of the modcast nights. Biggest W in my life :)
I actually started my own version of this challenge: A chronological order catch-em-all where I have to catch and evolve all Pokemon in the generation they were introduced in unless otherwise noted. So I am going to catch most of the Pokemon Crystal Pokemon in Pokemon Crystal and transfer them to Home and then go through Pokemon XD and catch a lot of Shadow Pokemon, purify them and transfer them, etc. (I have a lot of games and XD because I was going for a ribbon master challenge but dropped it when I saw how difficult the contests would be. Used your sub-athon to grind out levels in Secret of Mana. You don't know how hard it is to grind until you grind out Level 8 Magic in Secret of Mana. X_X
I could hunt it in sword and shield but one, that would require me to find it in Shield and go through it again on Sword because that's my main game, two, I've been stubborn enough to hunt it on ultra moon for this long so I may as well finish what I started
So I have been watching the VODs of the Subathon on twitch as background noise while completing my Pokédex in scarlet. I made it to the point where john found that shiny spearow while trying to evolve bisharp. About 20 minutes later it evolves and I see a full odds shiny bisharp standing next to me. THANK YOU FOR BLESSING ME WITH LUCK JOHN!!!
This subathon was an absolute vibe and made my 'working from home while sick' week so much better! You did fantastic John/mods keeping us all entertained!

Well done. It's awesome to see how basically everything can be caught solo/easily traded to newer games. As someone who rarely had trade evolutions due to being shy as a kid and rarely had pokemon from outside their respective games, this was fun to see.

The way I see it, if GameFreak is going to be unfairly stingy with Mythical Pokemon AND prevent trading them in Pokemon HOME, then cheating them in is morally valid. There's NO REASON anyone should be locked out of a complete dex just because they missed an event that happened a decade ago.
And because there shouldn't be version exclusives for the people who don't have enough money to buy both of the games they should just make them extremely rare
To clear up the Clampearl confusion - you have a 35/20% (day/night) chance to find one in a bubbling spot on the Route 1 side of Melemele Sea. On the Hau’oli City side, where you must have been fishing, it’s a 5% chance to find one, day or night. So you were just fishing on the wrong side.
I started my living dex when pokemon home came out, and this brought back memories lol. I got the mythicals I couldn't get in mainline games from pokemon go. Still, I'm not done yet. I still need Diancie. BDSP and PLA were great for getting Manaphy, Phione, Shaymin, and Arceus, though.
Uh oh scarlet and violet dlc dropped time to do it again 😂. Huge props to the dedication, ive been working on my living dex for like 3 years now and HOME is such a pain to organize and track everything when you dont do it from scratch 😭

here's a strategy to get through bdsp faster (it's completely banned for speedruns but it works for stuff like this). catch an abra in the wild after beating roark, then transfer it to legends arceus, evolve it into an alakazam with a linking cord, and train it up as high as you want (i just went simple to level 45 but you could go up to 100 if you really wanted to). then, transfer it back to bdsp, and since you caught it in bdsp it will still have your trainer id and it'll obey you.

Tornadus was the most difficult Force of Nature to catch in that game, with it's freaking Alpha Glalie bodyguard.
