  • Pentecost is a wonderful and blessed event in the history of the church. Not only does it commemorate the “birthday” of the Christian church (in a sense), but it also signifies the coming of the Holy Spirit. He is with us today, too! These crafts remind kids of the joy of Pentecost, and of the Holy Spirit’s power. A “Dove from Above” provides a fun representation of the holy Spirit with dove and fire. A “Flame of the Spirit” features a candle that contains wind-blown streamers for a double craft. Let’s get crafty!

This video is about making two crafts to celebrate Pentecost. Pentecost is a Christian holiday that celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Jesus Christ.
The first craft is a dove with a flame coming out of its head. The dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, and the flame represents the tongues of fire that appeared over the disciples' heads at Pentecost. To make the dove, you will need a paper plate, construction paper, googly eyes (optional), and markers. First, cut the paper plate in half to make the wings. Then, trace a circle and a teardrop shape on another piece of construction paper to make the body. Decorate the body with googly eyes or markers, and draw a beak and feet. Finally, cut out flames from red, orange, or yellow construction paper and attach them to the top of the dove's head.
The second craft is a candle with streamers coming out of the top. The candle represents the light of the Holy Spirit, and the streamers represent the wind that filled the room at Pentecost. To make the candle, you will need a paper towel tube, construction paper, markers, glitter (optional), stickers (optional), crepe paper, and popsicle sticks. First, decorate the paper towel tube with markers, glitter, or stickers. Then, cut out flames from construction paper and attach one inside the tube and one outside the tube. Cut streamers from crepe paper and attach them to popsicle sticks. Finally, tuck the popsicle sticks with the streamers inside the paper towel tube.
At the end of the video, the creator encourages viewers to adapt the crafts to their own liking and to make other crafts to celebrate Pentecost.
