That look she gives is amazing, because she very briefly and subtly looks directly at the camera. Not only can she sing, but she is deeply commited to the song and the character.
This is an operetta aria she put into rockstyle...this is actually a very difficult aria to sing, you have to be a good singer to do this. She is not only amazing but her voice is so beautiful, it really touches your soul.
This is the second act of Franz Lehár's opera (the merry widow) where Hannah (the wealthy widow and the character of the verse) hosts an extravagant party in full style of the Pontevedrian culture while they are in Paris, the audiences are wondering because Floor is putting this famous Dutch opera in Rocky style, just like Nightwish but with her fully classical singing, using a mic, so, basically she is turning opera in a smooth metal core which is simply awesome! Classical singers are trained to convey emotions.When they perform in a concert they have to stand in the same place (no windmill in opera, sorry). So they need to be very expressive with their face and arms and use their body language. Floor does that, she is very expressive and theatrical. She is not just a singer: she is a performer, she feels the song and makes the audience feel that emotion.
Well this is a show that has some of the most popular/best dutch singers doing interoretations of each others songs on dutch public television... so the whole audience are professional singers
This is a show weekly in Holland where all the professional singers sit around and each week pick one of them and the others do a song that is from that person's genre. We have Jazz, Opera, Metal, Pop, Hip-Hop, Punk etc... This was done as the older gentleman (Opera singer) was being honored. Floor picked this song as his mother sang it to him as a child, thus the teary reaction at the end. She didn't like the Dutch version so of course being Floor, she sang it in GERMAN!!!! That blond woman is a singer who I think is feeling the heat of Floor really blowing them all away as they figured "Metal" doing opera ha ha... wait you ain't seen anything yet Holland!!!!! i was listening to Nightwish allmost 20 years ago and was mindblown by the opera voice of Tarja(first singer) and the metal combined. Then the Tarja scandal happend and Anette(second singer)came in. The music that was made was still great but the epic vocals that make this epic music....epic? was missing.Also saw them live with Anette and was not impressed(should not be possible with NW) kinda faded away from the band and did not pay them much attention for years. i actually did not know that they had changed the vocalist. Then one day i clicked on a video on youtube....it was Nightwish-Storytime live from wacken 2013 with Floor....this is a song from the Imaginaerum album that i had heard before but i never liked it much....Floor blew me away. After that i was hooked again but always compared Floor with Tarja...can Floor do this or thar?....i dont do that anymore, i have surrended to this woman.....she`s just amazing....By the way i still would like to hear ACDC-RIFF-RAFF(from family jewels)....PS.love your reactions man, you make me laugh....keep em comin.

This is an aria from the opera "The Merry Widow" sung in German. Apparently the older gentleman knew who she was and admired her voice. The younger people are pop/folk singers and had no idea who she was.
Thye "old guy" is a renowned Dutch opera singer whose mother before him was as well, and she used to sing that song to him as a child and he is being brought to tears by Floor's performance.
sadly from what i hear floor is not very well known in her own country. Most of the other singers only knew what they had heard that she was a metal singer and werent prepared hence the blonde lady laughing at the beginning, she was suprised. the only one who knew she sang opera was the very man she was singing for ;) Oh and Mr. R+R dont fall behind ;) Unleash the Archers just released a video 8)
Oh boy Netherlands know her now, don't worry about that anymore! After this show she sold out all her solo shows within 24 hours. And Nightwish normally always do one show in the Netherlands which wasn't always sold out, but next year they are doing two shows in Ziggodome and they are both already sold out, a year before they start.

I'm just translating this song now. And I just can't stop laughing. I think the lyrics, Floor's performance and you, put all together makes this song so funny. It's basically about a guy who catches a glimpse of a maid in the forest. He is mesmerized about the beauty of the girl. Then he prays if he could have her as his all time love. Then the maid pulls him into her house. (that's when the eyeball thing happens from Floor) The guy is on a high as you can imagine. But when he kisses her, she disappears and the poor guy is left alone. Basically that's the song in a nutshell.

New episode each Saturday for 7 weeks - one new tonight. They are all singers and they sing for one person at a time. This one was a lullaby for the old guy, that his mother used to sing for him when he was a kid. Well - Floor can do everything, I have just been watching some of her old stuff from her own band (after forever) where she is really growling - just incredible that she can do it. She also does a version of "the final countdown" that's so much better than the original. She is magical ❤️

@@finmotoman75 I can imagine the reactions when not knowing the background. But they do laugh out of respect. In fact, they spend about a week together and become very good friends. Floor started, they still had to sing their songs to the older gentleman, so they were a bit nervous to hear such a performance first. It's actually fun to see this fragment getting worldwide viewing, because of Floor.
In this program, everyone in the group has to sings songs of everyone else in the group. One of them is on the couch and the others perform stuff that they wrote, performed and/or loved. And who's on the couch, rotates per episode. I love this, because it means that all those other artists are going to have to have a go at Floor's reportoire! xD I hope and pray one of them will be bold enough to take on a Nightwish song!

THis was the first performance on the Beste Zangers 2019 and nobody knew Floor. She set the bar immediately and they all shattered.
The 2 best vocalists of metal in my opinion are women and both because of their versatility. Floor Jansen, currently with Nightwish and Tatiana Shmaylyuk of the band Jinjer. There are many other great vocalists in metal but these 2 in my opinion are the elite of the elites.
I am so jealous of all those people sitting there getting to enjoy floor singing. Hope the new album has Floor singing this way. I think Floor is so good that, she may be bigger than Nightwish in a few years.

Thye "old guy" is a renowned Dutch opera singer whose mother before him was as well, and she used to sing that song to him as a child and he is being brought to tears by Floor's performance.
I can't wait for their new album to drop next year and see you react to the new songs.
sadly from what i hear floor is not very well known in her own country. Most of the other singers only knew what they had heard that she was a metal singer and werent prepared hence the blonde lady laughing at the beginning, she was suprised. the only one who knew she sang opera was the very man she was singing for ;) Oh and Mr. R+R dont fall behind ;) Unleash the Archers just released a video 8)
Oh boy Netherlands know her now, don't worry about that anymore! After this show she sold out all her solo shows within 24 hours.
And Nightwish normally always do one show in the Netherlands which wasn't always sold out, but next year they are doing two shows in Ziggodome and they are both already sold out, a year before they start.
They are just an audience. They are singing each other songs. It are all dutch singers. They are just having silly fun together. Hence some of the silly reactions.
I'm just translating this song now. And I just can't stop laughing. I think the lyrics, Floor's performance and you, put all together makes this song so funny.
It's basically about a guy who catches a glimpse of a maid in the forest. He is mesmerized about the beauty of the girl. Then he prays if he could have her as his all time love.
Then the maid pulls him into her house. (that's when the eyeball thing happens from Floor)
The guy is on a high as you can imagine. But when he kisses her, she disappears and the poor guy is left alone.
Basically that's the song in a nutshell.

Well - Floor can do everything, I have just been watching some of her old stuff from her own band (after forever) where she is really growling - just incredible that she can do it. She also does a version of "the final countdown" that's so much better than the original.

The "old dude" is Henk Poort from the Dutch Phantom of the opera. His mother ( also an opera singer) used to sing this song to his father. So this is very personal to him

In fact, they spend about a week together and become very good friends. Floor started, they still had to sing their songs to the older gentleman, so they were a bit nervous to hear such a performance first.
It's actually fun to see this fragment getting worldwide viewing, because of Floor.

That Guy is a Opera singer and this song is his favorite song from a Opera, This song is in German witch is a language Floor not speak so she had to practise it.
THis was the first performance on the Beste Zangers 2019 and nobody knew Floor. She set the bar immediately and they all shattered.

The 2 best vocalists of metal in my opinion are women and both because of their versatility. Floor Jansen, currently with Nightwish and Tatiana Shmaylyuk of the band Jinjer. There are many other great vocalists in metal but these 2 in my opinion are the elite of the elites.
