According to the researches, in Norse Giants weren't like that in this animation! They didn't look like giants or monsters (Except Logi cause he was Fire!)
They also looked like humans as Loki is also a giant himself!
The differences is some of them were bigger than mortals or gods themselves!

i agree, some of the giants were mere human looking while others had animal shape like the wolf Fenrir or the Midgard serpent, and there are also trolls among the giants.
