  • What was the earlier versions of Prometheus 2 like? There aren't any scripts available for anything that isn't close to Alien Covenant, so we'll take a look at concept art from Daniel J. Burns, Khang Le, and Carlos Huante to see what the story before and in early Alien Paradise Lost Concept art.

the idea of david being the one who completely created the xenomorphs is pretty terrible

It's the worst thing Ridley could have ever done. Shrank the universe down to some Darth Vader built C3PO crap.
The alien now isn't some cosmic horror - it's just a lab experiment by some robot with daddy issues. Boring.

@@gridlock7425 i mean the story was never actually finished so i can't really tell if they were painting david as the creator of the xeno or if he was just experimenting with the black goo and creating different versions of the xeno. there's a very xeno looking thing on a mural in prometheus... but from some of the alien awakening rumors it seemed like they were gonna retcon it all for david to be the creator which i'm frankly glad never happened.
prometheus was brilliant but unfortunately covenant really ruined it for me and the fact that the story is unfinished makes it worse.

This change happened because of the fans reception to Prometheus. It made the studio rethink their game plan and thus we got Covenant

In other words, the lack of participation way back eight years before the pandemic when hollywood films could still turn some excellent profits but also Prometheus was an ADULT and mature themed Science Fiction Horror Fantasy movie, I use those four terms because of cryogenic and faster than light travel as well as exotic and hostile ancient alien life forms... also the movie is a mystery story where hints and clues are laid and make you think and notice things while obviously not giving the secret away but that perhaps somehow maybe Ser Scott planned a trilogy but due to resistance to Prometheus resulting in the edited version with religion references or allegory removed far more and we got space slasher Alien Covenant that still tried to maintain and set up Ser Scott's plan but again people did not show up...
So with the planned new film the idea is what will people who claim to be fans do.. and will mature audiences show up who may not be fans... given the recent rubbish of films and some accusations of films being woke even when they really are not like Black Adam DCU film was which just had some corny and preachy dialogue scenes... yet certain fringe internet groups still accused the film of stuff resulting in lower attendance.

This is such a wild narrative to me. There were certainly complaints about needing more Xeno's in Prometheus. But there was also massive amounts of criticism geared to the dumb characters and story telling (despite awesome premise). So why would Scott / studio focus on more Xeno's but give us even worse story telling and even dumber characters in Covenant.
I certainly expected more Xeno's in Prometheus, but was fascinated with the Engineers and wanted more! I think the majority of fans felt this way. I think fans complaining about more Xeno's were a vocal minority. I mean the quality of the film is not a product of Xeno screen time. Yet that's the noise Scott / Studio listen to while ignoring complaints about dumb characters? Makes no sense. You don't even hear from these fans anymore complaining about the lack of Xenos. It shows just how small that group actually was.
And Prometheus made like $400+ million world wide. It was in the top 25 of all R rated box office at the time. So it just seems strange they act like the problem was lack of Xeno's.

@@user-hz5lt7ki2o literally the single dumbest moment of the entire franchise happened in the first film, the best of the series. This tired, scapegoated argument of “dumb characters” is just factually incorrect. Kane stuck his head right into an egg, on a spaceship, on a random planet. People are stupid. Every single person you ask will say this. Is it really that hard to believe, in the face of such exploration and discovery, that people would make uneducated and rushed decisions?

    • @Romulus503
      @Romulus503 16 дней назад +2

@@user-hz5lt7ki2o I do agree, the studio deciding to refocus so HARD after Prometheus was the wrong choice. I didn’t feel it felt as forced adding the xeno into Covenant, but they could’ve added more to that part of the plot. I wish they’d included 15-20 minutes more, like adding “the crossing” or “advent” shorts, makes the film amazing. I personally love Covenant, but it could’ve been so much more.
I really hope Romulus is a spiritual successor to Covenant. Regardless of how anyone feels about the prequels, they’re beautifully made films and still have their moments. Whether they outweigh the cons is personal choice. But I think I speak for most when I say, we deserve some kind of conclusion to David’s story. I’m hoping Romulus connects to the Covenant and David somehow

  • @FootOfOrion

I hope that we see Scott’s original vision for Prometheus’ sequel come to life. I’m not optimistic, but maybe if Romulus does well, it’ll give Scott incentive enough to make the next “Prequel” the way he wants to.

Ridley got caught in a dammed if ya do...dammed if you dont situation. People complained that Prometheus wasnt "Alien" enough...so instead of going forward with his original story...he comromised and we got Covenant....and then the fans complained that he didnt totally follow up the story from Prometheus....and so the box office suffered and his complete story was shelved (or so it seems).
Its unfortunate...because I actually enjoyed both Prometheus and Covenant. No they are not perfect films but they definitely dont deserve the amount of hate Ive seen online. I think both films are far better than Alien 3 and Resurrection.
I can only hope Romulus is great. I liked the way Ridley was getting into bigger themes....Im gettIng pretty bored with the same concept "People trapped on vessel or planet...stalked by creature...most all die...Alien gets killed....or does it?"
It worked fine in the first 2 films (especially because one was a true horror/thriller and the next was an Action film with Aliens thrown in...but after that it was diminsihing returns).
Fingers crossed that Romulus brings something new to the franchise. Not sure what to think about the TV show coming...Xenos on Earth? If its handled well...great but I have my doubts

So basically all of this is in Covenant but just very toned down or in a "it already happened off screen" kinda way. Honestly, as a huge Prometheus fan, I'm glad it got a continuation. With the Prometheus story line concluded in Covenant (both Shaw and the Engineers killed by David) I'm not too sour on Covenant not being continued. I got my answers. I really liked Covenant too though, and I hope it gets some kind of continuation someday..

The Engineers from Prometheus and Covenant need to be removed from cannon or retconned to have hijacked the original Malakak’s technology. With that being said the series is titled “Alien” not “Xenomorph”. I’m wide open to expanding the series to include more Aliens but not at the expense of the Xenomorphs.

According to newly released rumours, the story starts with a spaceship discovering the remains
of the first xenomorph from the alien movie. They bring it to the nearest spacestation and extract it
for eggs which creates the facehuggers. Then the whole spacestation gets infected and all the humans
dies, and leaves a big xenomorph hive behind.
When contact is lost with the other spacestations.A spaceship is sendt to investigate.
Then a battle breaks out,and only one off the investigators manage to escape.
Or did she? In the end we see that she also is infected and she sets the escapepod to self construct, but
before that happens, the escape pod lands on a unknown planet with small humanlike beings, but with blue skin.
And that makes a cliffhanger for a follow-up movie ?
