Jim Plunkett was traded for by the 49ers after being with his first team, the New England Patriots. His “3rd Act” was with the Raiders where he won two Super Bowls - MVP in the first of two.

Should have traded Najee Harris and grabbed Josh Jacobs and bam…the team would be hard to beat BUT..run the ball, play action game, and hard nose defense. Wilson HAD THE BEST PASSER RATING OUT OF ALL QBS WHEN OPERATING OUT OF THE PLAY ACTION PASS. Period.

It's a new day in Pittsburg. I watched Russ in Seattle for several years and was impressed by him. The decline in his play was put to the lack of an O line and then they let him cook with less than stellar results, so off to Denver where it was chaos soup for two straight years. Maybe the stability of the head coach in Pittsburg will help re-center him so he can do his best work again. I hope they find success together and as a bonus that they do so well that Sean Payton becomes the laughing stock of all of football. I always felt that he was of low character the way he approached the game, Bounty gate and going after Russ the way he did. Good luck Steelers fans, may this be your year.

Russell Wilson was 9th in passer rating for a coach that is demanding and not easy to play for especially if friction already exists. Although I favor offensive minded head coaches I think the Steelers are an anomaly. Their organization and fan base seems to favor CEO/defensive/motivator types. The key is finding an OC that doesn’t necessarily get antsy about getting a head coaching job. I know that’s easier said than done. But I like the Tomlin & Wilson dynamic🏈

Absolutely. No one really talks about that. It absolutely played significant factor in why they took him 1st round. To this day the wiff on Marino has to go down as one of worst draft day decesions made by a franchise. They could never live that down. And if Pickett went on to have fabolous HOF worthy career they would never ever recover. Pickett is looking very avg at this stage so it didnt work out but they had to take him.

Wilson doesn't fit a stereotype that is accepted by the people that are being stereotyped, thus he's labeled as phony. He grew up in a household that for some, is not the norm for a certain demographic, so they don't relate to him. Whatever his motivation is, took him from a third round pick, to two Super Bowl appearances and one victory, and QB numbers that are superior to many already in the Hall. The guy is married with a family and stays out of trouble like a normal person. That doesn't sit well with a lot of folks that prefer a certain narrative.

You’re comparing apples to oranges. The Steelers don’t have a first-time HC who was only hired because they thought he could lure his former QB.
Secondly, the Steelers are swell-run organization. They have contributed to be winners over the past several years. The Broncos were a train wreck and had too many holes.
Plus, the injuries were too much. They were the most heavily injured team
      In the league.
If not for Havkett’s bad decisions early in the year, Melvin Gordon’s fumbles, and all of the injuries, Russ would have had that 2022 team in the playoffs regardless of Hackett’s poor coaching overall. They lost more one-score games than anyone.
Personally, I’d believe the Broncos should have kept Jerry Rosberg.

After all that, he puts the "aww shucks, let's do a Bible Study" face on, and gullable-ass people think he's a scapegoat. No, Nathaniel Hackett was a scapegoat. Russell Wilson is a turd.

Conceded by 5 YPC on running, conceding the 3rd most rushing yards. Passing defense wasnt much better. They conceded 70 points against Miami, nearly 400 yards passing and 350 running. I am a Steelers fan and even i am excited af for this upcoming season, i don't remember when was the last time i was this hyped and i am usually the skeptical one lol

  • @ross798
    @ross798 8 месяцев назад

I think they were committed to Mason and Kenny Pickett, the problem is, Mason Rudolph, being a free agent, just starts the search, but before he can possibly SEE if there is a team willing to pay him, in his mind, to start, Russell Wilson is available, almost for free. Mason deserves 10 times more than what Wilson costs the Steelers and if the Steelers did not move fast enough, they might have been stuck with neither. Then they have to pay big money and several draft picks for someone like Justin Fields, who I really don't think is as good as Mason would be in Pittsburg.
So, what happened? The Steelers needed 2 quarterbacks, they now got one for *free*, that gives them more money for other players. And, it saves a possible draft pick, because they NEED two offensive linemen, remember, they released two, they also need a CB and a punter.
In other words, they got Wilson before the musical chairs of quarterbacks started, problem solved and it allows for them to go get players who can improve other areas. I think, if Mason wanted the job, it was his, but he wanted to look around and now, the only way he is playing for the Steelers is QB3 and the hope that Wilson and Pickett don't work out. Remember, George Pickens was pretty impressed with Mason, actually using the "GOAT" symbol for him. Silly, but that was his compliment, he clearly liked the balls thrown his way from Mason.

This is a coup for Pittsburgh. Wilson isn't as bad as he looked in his 1st year for Denver. Tomlin will follow Pete Carrol's playbook for how to get performance out of Wilson. Run the ball, play action passes, the occasional deep ball which he throws really nicely. He doesn't throw well over the middle, and he can't handle a deep playbook. But pare it down and he can execute... and execute way, way better than anyone on their roster. Not even in the same Universe. Keep in mind that the Denver WR's were way overrated too. I bet Russ can get some pretty talented WR's on that roster to up their production... especially on off schedule plays... Now they can use their picks to fill other holes.. How about a D-lineman to help out Watt...

Would have been 4-1 if Russ hadn’t been injured in game-5 vs. the Rams.

So sideways that following the 2021 season, all three of owner Jody Allen, GM Hohn Schneider, and Oete Carroll made public proclamations that Russ’s injury derailed things and they were excited to “run it back” with Russ at QB.
