You should do some more Marcus! he is an amazing jazz guitarist. Does a very cool fuse of jazz and blues is a lot of his playing. the song side door is probably my favorite!
Its crazy that he is 25 and been playing guitar for 20 years already. Dang right he is going to be great. Not to mention coming from a musical family. Pure awesomeness!!!
Really enjoyed your take on this. You should take a look at his "Wildflowers and Wine". I'd really like to hear your take on a couple of other bands that Marcus has opened for in recent years: Gov't Mule (e.g. "Beautifully Broken", "Mule", etc.) and Tedeschi Trucks Band (e.g. "Midnight In Harlem", "Don't Know What it Means", "Crying Over You", etc.). Thanks again!
Loved it! David I’m surprised you didn’t mention the bass player’s sound... which was so perfect in the live mix.... for me he really carried the song steadily and masterfully giving the guitarist/singer plenty of room for his vocals and his solos.
You need to check Marcus King band out from "Jam in the Van" Goodbye Carolina or Sidedoor. They are all in a real Rv playing and the recording is great.
I've been a huge Marcus King band since I first heard of them around 2016. The Marcus King band definitely has a different feel. Adding brass instruments and keyboard player. The song that really made them explode would have to be Rita Is Gone, I highly recommend checking it out. Also "Radio Soldier" and "Boone" are great earlier stuff from them. Last time I saw them live Bishop Gunn opened for them, also a band to take a look at! Great Video!
You should check out Marcus and Billy strings playing together. They're awesome together with both of their guitar styles that they bring and Billy also has a voice on him too. Good stuff.
Greetings from Canada...Another fantastic episode. I have a couple suggestions that I would love to see you react to: 1) from Scotland, Iron Sky by Paolo Nutini live session from Abbey Road Studios - great emotional grit vocal. 2) another Canadian female fronted metal band...Awakenings by Unleash The Archers fantastic vocals and technical performances. Thanks for continuously bringing the awesome.
difference is this is the Marcus King Trio, his usual lineup is these 3 and sax, trumpet and keys. they are all killer. this album was a change up for him as Dan Auerbach produced this album. previously he has had Warren Haynes from Allman Brothers and Gov't Mule produce him! keep checking him out even his solo stuff is awesome!!!!!!!! "Dyin" live at The Big House.
I’m genuinely amazed you haven’t reacted to Sleep Token yet. I’d recommend Higher, Sugar, Blood Sport, or Jaws. They’re an incredible band, and I really think you’d dig their sound (no spoilers).
Nice review for one that hasn't heard Marcus before. I could tell right off the bat you were digging it. He's such a versatile musician & can go from ripping the shit out of a song to playing an acoustic ballad that can bring tears to your eye's . Don't blame you a bit for playing along ,it's an infectious tempo & fierce lead attack. Now go check out his good friend Billy Strings. ruclips.net/video/zO8IwPbALK4/видео.html And this is with Tommy Emmanuel & acoustic as Billy is the same killer as Marcus when he plays electric.
Man, playin standard blues riffs cleanly and with a little flair is PLENTY hard enough. If you can do that you are 90% there. On the other hand, if you CAN’T do that then it doesn’t matter how you slide or bend or fingerpick, you’re still gonna be just mediocre.
DUDE my biggest flex is that I went to school with Marcus and even got guitar lessons from his dad. Really awesome and talented dudes.
You better flex!!!!
Actually first, wow. And Marcus King is something else huh David, what a talent
Marcus King is a deep well even at 24.you need to hear more.
yeah Marcus is bad ass writer, player, and singer. He does it all.
Stop what you are doing and react to Marcus’ performance of Wildflowers and Wine live at the World Cafe. It is perfection.
Look into a band called Chevelle, “Letter from a thief” is a good song to start with

See this is why I come here, to see this. Arigato
Architects- Animals- Orchestral Version
It’s so much better than the album version, but it’s still not a patch on their old stuff tbh.

there he goes. picking up the song in the first seconds
I mean, it is the blues...
...wait till you see him live!!!!....I've seen him twice, and my face melted both times!!!
