In high school, I did my final exam on Josephine Baker. During my research, I cried ugly tears learning about the contributions this beautiful woman had made. She was actually still alive at the time and fortunately I had the help of teachers who were down for the cause (1974). Of course, I got an A+ and to this day she is my personal shero. #firstblacksuperstar.🥰

The Josephine Baker Story is the way I learned about Josephine Baker as a young kid, and I LOVED it. I didn't hear about her for a long time after that, but I just saw a piece about her again in BRAZEN by Pénélope Bagieu and I love her story. Thanks for doing Josephine Baker! I became obsessed with her years ago.
I’d recommend listening to the interviews with her kids. Apparently the “rainbow tribe” was not a happy ordeal. I guess adopting kids as representatives of their different biological backgrounds as a social experiment to disprove racism isn’t the best reason to have kids. I don’t blame her for being compelled to do this, but it’s sad that she carried so much pain.
Glad to hear you’re doing alright! Hey, it’s tough to be human. Probably many of your viewers have been through tough times, so it’s okay! We get it.

This was amazing there was so much about her I didn't know. It is sad, though, that her own birthplace treated her so badly. On the topic of Paris in the 20s, there was this whole group of artists that hung out there during this time and Picasso was one of them, along with a pretty impressive group of American writers like Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Gertrude Stein. You should look that up too, its very interesting.

I love her art, but d@mn… The they thought about and treated immigr@n+$ and other min0r!ty groups was f-€k3d up. It’s a very sad and shameful part of history. SMH What was said was probably just a rumor.

Hello from France ! Loved your energy. Total fan of Josephine Baker. Let's be honest. Who wouldn't ? Legendary artist / Spy during WW2 / Civil rights, LGBTQ, feminist activist ... She was just amazing. Most definitely one of the most important person of the 20th century. You may not be aware of this but in November 2021 she was buried in the Pantheon in Paris. The Pantheon is a very important monument in France, built during the 18th century, where the most influencial French personalities in History are celebrated, like Pierre and Marie Curie, Louis Braille (who invented the Braille alphabet), and many other scientists, politicians, writers, philosophers, activists and so on, during an official ceremony where French president made a very beautiful speech. She is totally adored here and finally received all the honors she deserves.

Josephine Baker has been my all time favorite since I was like 7 so the fact that you're just getting to really know her blows me away. She took the cake just being who she was and will forever have like one of the highest respects from me❤️ RIP.

I love this video so much! It was so positive, uplifting and inspiring. I would love more positive black icon stories, but more positive stories in general would be amazing.

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!😍😍😍 You would be with brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, purple eyes, ANY COLOR! You’re gorgeous either way & I’m pretty sure some of those haters are JUST JEALOUS!! Jealousy is one the the #1 reasons there are haters.

Lol maybe it's bc i'm spanish so i obviously know well about picasso but i find it funny how americans always seem to think he lived in the 1800s or something haha. He was a cubist, ain't that like a very modern painting style? (well, it's a 100 years old now lol) Also, his most famous painting is about the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939)! Loved the video, loved Josephine's story. She truly was THAT girl!! xoxo
