I’m so sorry, I know that when I think about my past hurt most times it still hurts to think about, but I’m hoping that you’ve been able to grow from your experiences and I’m hoping they’ve helped make you a better person too. Yeah, I wish America’s justice system was better and as is I’d never trust a jury of my peers. When the abuse is happening in your community all of a sudden logic goes out the door, and it’s way more comfortable to believe the abuser is innocent.

Everybody knew he did it. That's all I ever knew. But I'm not going to lie I have never heard all the details of this case. This is sickening. As a victim of domestic violence this just made me so mad. OJ getting away with murder was not a win. Smh.

You're pretty young so there are elements of this story that you probably aren't aware of. One being that Nicole was not some innocent person as you portrayed her here. She was the person to see if you were coming to Hollywood back then and you wanted to buy cocaine. This was well known in those Hollywood circles back then.
You're on the right track when you say someone else was there with OJ. It's doubtful that OJ actually did the killing but a good possibility that he was there when it happened and got out of there as soon as he could because he couldn't say anything or he would have been killed himself. I saw the actual crime scene back then when I was interning in news and I can tell you there wouldn't have been just some blood droplets here and there. He would have been covered in blood. He certainly wouldn't have been able to dispose of the clothing he had on within a span of a half hour and jump in a limo.
There was money that Nicole owed to people in the criminal world. She was also having sex with Goldman and he had been seen in the car that OJ bought for Nicole before that. He wasn't just some random waiter dropping off some glasses. Yes OJ was an abusive male and they were obsessed with each other. He had control issues and really should have been arrested during all of those domestic violence calls.
The media circus was also staged (think about it. If this was a spontaneous chase down a freeway, where did the people who were cheering for him get those signs from?) as this event is what lead to 24 hour news channels and reality TV. This step brought in an entirely new revenue stream. Court TV is basically what people watched back then if they wanted to see what went on with criminal cases. This all changed with the coverage of this case. It's why we have 24 hour news channels now. It's not a coincidence that its Robert Kardashian's kids who really cemented reality TV as a genre.

I think he understood Nicole was gone and was going through like severe anxiety . Apparently they're actually pretty aloof with strangers, so the fact that they followed strangers meant he was also like under severe stress.

Dogs are incredibly smart and loyal! I hope and pray Nicole’s dog found a good home after she was killed!

OJ is a truly disturbed individual. The fact that he makes jokes about Nicole’s passing when his own kids have to spend the rest of their lives without their mom is sick. Also apparently he was saying really disgusting sexual stuff about Kim Kardashian while he was serving time in prison for a robbery and kidnapping conviction in 2008 and he’s her godfather. One interesting note about Robert Kardashian. At the time of the trial he had not practiced for 20 years, and he had never been a trial attorney in the first place....he focused on real estate law which is how he was able to invest in real estate properties to well. That was where his wealth came from.
There was a picture of Oj Simpson with some sort of bag as he entered Robert Kardashian's home. The detectives believed it was evidence from the murder.
Immediately after that Robert reinstated his license to practice law in California and was retained as one of the dream team even though he had zero qualifications.
There is a legal loophole when it comes to client attorney privilege, and because of this Robert could not be called by the prosecution as a witness.
If you watch the verdict you can see Robert hang his head in shame while everyone else jumped up to celebrate. He knew that he had just gotten a murderer off in order to save his own ass.

This case caused sooo much racial tension across the nation. It did turn into more of a racial case than a murder case. It was so obvious to so many people that he did it, and when the jury came back so quickly with a non guilty verdict jaws dropped all across the US. You had to be so careful what you said, tho. If you were white and disagreed with the verdict it was enough to start a fight. And God help you if you were black and disagreed! It was all so ridiculous, and two innocent people didn’t get justice because people were blinded by racial tensions instead of looking clearly at the facts. If he had been anyone else, he’d either be in for life or sitting on death row running through his appeals. Smdh…

    • @Hip.Username
      @Hip.Username 2 года назад +35

This is true, I remember watching a documentary on this case and that this was after a few very public cases where black people were completely cheated by the justice system, and there were members of the jury who fought hard during liberation to come back with a not guilty verdict because of this. I know it's messed up, because he later committed more crimes and was not innocent, but I can understand why they retaliated like this. As a jury member for such a high-profile case you suddenly have the power to do something after seeing so much injustice against your race, but you were selected to make things "fair" and everyone is assuming he's gonna have a guilty verdict. I think I'd wanna fuck shit up too, it'd be hard not to

    • @cadyg2531
      @cadyg2531 2 года назад +34

Wow! I didn’t know the race divide. This case was before my time. I feel like the non guilty verdict was done intentionally. Governments around the world do this all the time, especially around elections (most recently, George Floyd). I’m 23 and at first racial bias (I’m a black woman) made me angry about what happened. It still shouldn’t have happened, but when I took a step back to look at the police who placed bricks around busy areas to start riots and who were breaking public property, I saw exactly what was going on. George Floyd like Nicole Brown Simpson was the sacrificial lamb to divide the public. They’ve been doing this for years and still masses fall for it. If we, the people, joined forces, stood together and weren’t sheep to these corporations and agendas being pushed, we could change this evil world.

I remember the day that they announced on the news that OJ was free. I couldn’t believe it I was baffled and so upset and heartbroken for Nicole’s family and Ron Goldman’s. OJ had beat her so many times, and was on cocaine as it was well known, and most of the tape recordings of 911 calls that I listened to, Nicole sounded terrified and you could hear him enraged in the background sounding like he was really sped up and deranged. To me in the end I felt that with all the proof they had of his abuse and drug use and that alone along with the scene of the crime how horrific of a crime of passion it was, I couldn’t believe they could doubt for one second that it wasn’t him. (I definitely think he was alone as well. ) I think possibly Kato knew more than he let on too, but was afraid of OJ. Thank you so much for doing this story you did a great job! What really got me in this case was when some of the jurors admitted publicly they fought for a not guilty verdict due to previous police brutality cases against the black community (cases who were never served justice, mind you).
These people were so angry they let a murderer go loose in order to stick it to the man, his actual guilt was of no concern to them. For a guy who didn't even care about his community.
To say this case was very racially charged is an understatement.

That movie wasn't even in the same ballpark as what went down in real life. In particular, when the LAPD called Simpson in Chicago. If you look at the actual trial. It was confirmed by that same cop, that Simpson asked the cop over and over on what happened. The cop also stated that Simpson was upset, he couldn't answer Simpson's questions.
Regarding race relations. A lot of white people back then were pathetic. They'd spinned this a race thing where Blacks made it about race. The truth of the matter was. Whites made it about race, because in the collectives eyes, Simpson and Nicole were a modern day Othello. Had that been his first wife who was Black. This topic would have ended after the pursuit on highway 5.
Johnny Cochran's daughter who worked as a news anchor woman in Los Angeles during that, received so many death threats, she had to quit her job and relocate to Atlanta. The entire family got death threats.Pretty much the entire law team whom worked with Simpson were either threatened or those so called white friends stopped talking to them. So um yes. It was about race and violence for them.

      My response to Cydnee:
Your delivery was funny and entertaining and reminded me of a Drunk History episode. Nice makeup job too. There's always more to what went on though, than the official story.

One good thing that came from this tragedy is a new law passed that abused woman no longer had the burden to put their abuser in jail. OJ was probably guilty but it was more the prosecutor and the Los Angeles police departments fault that he was not found guilty then it was Johnny Cochran.
Jay Z said it best “ i’m not black I’m OJ... OK” 😒
This pretty much sums up the Black communities feelings about OJ back then and currently.
This was absolutely a case of racial bias and that doesn’t negate the fact that OJ is probably still very guilty. But this is absolutely a case of racial bias.
OJ was a successful, rich, famous, uppity🚩, ego stricken🚩, narcissistic🚩, drug addict🚩Black man married to a White woman.
On top of that remember that this was post the Rodney King incident and the LA riots. Racial tension was high and it wasn’t just black people who were hot mad under the collar about it a lot of white people and a lot of cops especially were participating in some racially problematic behaviors.
I think OJ did it but I think that he either had Katie kill her or Kato saw him come back from killing her and he didn’t say anything because he thought that he could use to get money out of OJ later on. And then the civil trial happened and he realize he could be found equally as liable but that’s just my conspiracy theory and I can’t prove it. I feel like if the police had done a real investigation instead of just trying to connect all the dots back to OJ, they could’ve made him crack. His story doesn’t make any sense when you really look at it more than on a surface level.
But what’s not talked about was how a lot of the evidence was contaminated, how the chain of evidence was interfered with on multiple pieces of evidence at multiple different times, and that police officer wasn’t just racist but he was also believed to have tampered with other cases.
Even if OJ was guilty all of these little infractions would have led to anyone else being let off on this cakes and that is the prosecutor and the Los Angeles county police departments fault.
It angers me that Nicole and Ron will never actually receive justice whether OJ did it or not because even if you go back and examine the evidence because it has been widely contaminated if there was another killer we will never know.( I don’t believe there was another killer, I think OJ did it in someway.)
This case was absolutely about a lot of bias because they rushed to judge this case because OJ was black, because he was wealthy, because he was famous, and because they didn’t think they needed a strong case to convict in the county they were coming from.
However, I think the scariest part is that after this court case OJ was sued civilly by Ron’s family. Where he was found guilty of being responsible for Ron’s death but there in lies the contradiction if he’s guilty I’ve been responsible for his death how did they not find him guilty for the murders. Because what I put forth is plausible but I can’t prove any of it. It feels more like they found him guilty in a civil lawsuit to exact some kind of punishment for murdering these two people as they believed he did but again if you can’t prove that to find him guilty civilly is highly questionable. I also don’t like that the ruling basically gave this white family ownership over this black man. And I know that’s not how it’s phrased but if you look at how much control they have over his name, legacy, finances, and then eventually his freedom because he didn’t pay, that very much comes off like slavery. OJ has done plenty to deserve jail but I feel like a lot of the actions taken against him or more so done on a ‘we couldn’t get you on this, so we’re going to get you on that’, which is it justice it’s revenge and retaliation and our justice system should never be working on those motivations.
Another big issue I have with this case is all these people who claim to be Nicole‘s friends selling all of her information and personal stories for attention and money and Ron‘s family trying to rewrite his history. Nicole and Ron shouldn’t need to be perfect people in order to deserve justice and I have a huge problem with that mindset especially in America that you need to be an angel in order to be a victim.

    • @yuhsabitv
      @yuhsabitv 2 года назад +26

You can sue someone civilly and they be found guilty or liable for a crime, in this case murder because in civil court you rely on the preponderance of the evidence not beyond a reasonable doubt. Also in civil trial only 51%of the jury has to agree that the accused is guilty based on the presented evidence. In a criminal trial, 100% of the jury has to agree that based on the presented evidence, the accused is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. So it is not surprising that OJ was found liable civilly but not criminally.

I heard a horrible quote once where OJ came to his neighborhood at one point, which was predominantly white, and there was a huge amount of African American supporters waiting for him! When OJ saw them, he asked "what are all these (you know whats) doing in Brentwood?"
I don't think I hate actual serial killers as much as I hate that man. I would pay to punch him in the face.

      My response to Cydnee:
Your delivery was funny and entertaining and reminded me of a Drunk History episode. Nice makeup job too. There's always more to what went on though, than the official story.

I was in high school when this happened and remember till this day that the teachers didn't teach any lessons for a full week after the Verdict came thru.We we're glued to the TV in all classes. We were in total awe of the this. Honestly we had never seen anything like this before. Literally EVER. It brought so much tension with everyone where it made us a whole start looking at race as a whole. It brought up so many convos and debates in our high school until the point where they had to call the whole school into the gym to talk to us about race relations because of all the rioting/fighting amongst the teenage students. This was a time to live. Not sure if your reading this but can we do one on Rodney King.

Off the top of my head Curie, Earhart, C. J. Walker ... there are so many amazing contributions that we just don't know of because women are only famous in relation to their husbands/lovers/fathers. I think this would be uplifting and a great boost for our mental health as well. Sending you love, and thanks for your amazing works.

Another detail that was critical to the case is how the crime scene was processed. There is video of the technicians cross contaminating the crime scene, and this puts the DNA results in jeopardy. This case changed the how evidence is collected, handled and stored across the US. The police bungled the case and caused a guilty man to walk free. My heart goes out to Nicole and Ron - and their families.

You did a great job with this. I only watched some of the trial, being employed. Even though I thought he was guilty, if I'd been on that jury, I'd have voted to acquit because of the blood evidence. What is really interesting is that after the trial, as people talked about whether they thought he was innocent or guilty, opinion split strictly along race lines. Over time, more blacks are coming to believe he actually did it and his book contributed to that. One of the reasons OJ was losing the status he once held was that he was a truly terrible actor. Your comparitive to The Rock is spot on. The public really did view The Juice with the same level of adoration they do of The Rock.

This guy believes his brother that is now dead was the person that helped LJ. After watching that I believe so too because I think this guy killed people from Florida all the way to California. OJ was one of my dad's favorite players and later as an actor. I grew to really like him as well. He was so handsome and well spoken.
I was glad that my dad didn't live to witness the mess that OJ made of his life as he grew older. I was heartbroken when I learned what happened. I didn't want to believe that he had anything to do with the murders. That is until the slow Bronco chase..then it was pretty clear what the truth was. I watched every minute of the trial that I could, I was completely mesmerized by it. The evidence stacked up against him grew and grew with his guilt becoming more and more evident.
I was completely shocked and mortified when he was found not guilty. I honestly believe the verdict would have been different if the race riots that took place following the verdict in the Rodney King's police beatings hadn't occurred just months earlier.
The nation was so divided but OJ was really ostracized by most of his group of friends and most of the nation. He really believed he was now untouchable because he was OJ!!
When he robbed the guy at the hotel it was because OJ never believed that the laws applied to him. He was shocked that this time he was found guilty and sent to prison. He's very old now, and out of jail and is very much ostracized by most everyone, as he should be!!

I was in the Navy and my ship had just pulled into Pearl Harbor, HI when the "slow-speed chase" happened. There was no internet or cell phones--not even IM. You got your news from CNN or USA Today. That's how it was. But stories could still travel. My shipmates and I talked about Nicole's murder and I won't relay here the things that were said. However, I, too, was on the fence about his participation--until I heard that Nicole's dog was a purebred Akita. Then I knew that moment, that he had murdered her.
My cousin was a Vet-tech in the Army and helped train dogs (partly, so she wouldn't get bit during exams). But she had also trained Akitas when she was younger. Akitas are an exceptional dog breed and very loyal to their owner. The dog was Nicole's and would taken her attacker down in a microsecond. The fact that he was still alive after the bloodbath tells me that the dog was familiar with the attacker and it was done in a moment of passion.
I think he went over to Nicole's place to see the kids before he left for Chicago. Being the idiot that he was, he walked into her home and the Akita started barking. He said he wanted to see the kids; Nicole told him they were sleeping. The dog wasn't happy, but Nicole put him in the house so she could tell him to get lost. Tensions rose and he hit her, but she hit back. He cold-cocked her and started to panic--when Ronald showed up. Ronald saw an unconscious Nicole and went to help but was slammed to the ground. We know how that ended. Nicole started to come to, but she could tell the police what had happened. So, while she was still on the ground, he pulled her head back and slit her throat. Then left her like garbage.
Realizing the dog was howling, he opened the door and let the pooch out. He gave the dog a quick pat and ran off the property. However, in his haste, he forgot to secure the gate and the dog got out--which, attracted the neighbour's.
Had Nicole had the dog beside her and given the commands "pass auf" or "fass" the night's events would've had a different outcome.

Video Suggestion: The Curious Case of Tim & Jeff Buckley. Tim was a famous musician in the 60s, amazing voice, handsome, charismatic, but he succumbed to an overdose around 30.
Before he did however, he fathered a Son - Jeff Buckley - who he only met once. Nevertheless, Jeff grew up to be a musician himself, at first hiding his name and relation to the famous Tim... Until one night at a memorial gig for Tim, a young man who looked exactly like him, like the ghost of Tim striding astage, sits down and begins to sing. The audience heard, to match his countenance and frame, Tim's voice once more, a gorgeous tenor now known for songs like Hallelujah and Grace. Turns out, Jeff never got to go his father's funeral and this was his way of saying adieu to the Dad he barely knew...
Some of Tim's old friends happen to be there to hear, some label guys and the rest is history. He had his pick of labels and went onto create one of the greatest albums of all, 'Grace' (always to be found on greatest ever listings).
Sadly, fate was rounding on the younger Buckley and after extensive touring, he died around the same age as his Father, shortly before his second album could be completed, under mysterious circumstances.
That's literally just the bare bones - There's so much more to go into and you would tell it *amazingly*.
