      Would i be switching voicings through the tone knob that pushes and pulls? Thank u

I'm about to pick either the Tim Henson pickups or the Abasi's or even the Fluence Open Core's what would you guys get for clean tone superiority? Is the guitar with the Hensons naturally brighter? Seems off for his neck Voice 1 to be relatively brighter since its described at "thick and smooth" and has sounded darker, warmer, more wooly in other demos. I'm trying to calibrate what I'm hearing here because the Henson bridge has caught my attention as a potentially more preferable alternative to the set of Classics I have but have been going back and forth on actually installing.

    • @McRocklin
      @McRocklin  Год назад

      Both guitars should be pretty much the same. The Henson’s are just a little brighter, especially the neck.

    @cachelesssociety5187 Год назад

    I have a 2-humbucker 3-way setup, and am wondering what can be gained from converting my guitar to the push/pull with a 5-way. I'm not clear on the Fishman wiring diagrams and offerings and perhaps you can offer some guidance. AFAIK you've got a 5-way super switch - BUT if you were using a 3-way there would be 3 voices, available in each pickup = 9 total. I think you said with that 5 way and the push/pull you're getting all the voices except one . Given that you've got that 5-way switch and apparently a push pull (sorry, being redundant) you should be getting at least 9 + the 2 splits (whatever combinations they are???) so 11 options total. Since beginning to research the Fishman Fluence pickups I started hearing about "super 5 way" switches - I think Tosin's preferred wiring for his Fishman Fluence uses one - and I'm very unclear how this differs from a 3-way setup (or even if I could choose to do it either way). AFAIK "splits" in 2-pickup guitars are not like in a traditional strat - where 5-way are literally the pairs of middle and neck or middle and bridge. But we're also not talking about ALL the options possible from a super 5-way installed on a passive pickup 2-humbucker guitar, - you tube has a video on this - In that case I believe you can wire it for 10 possible combinations - meaning you can for instance make possible a combo such as outputting only the outer magnets of one of the humbuckers, combined with one of the other humbuckers - weird stuff but possibly useful.

    • @McRocklin
      @McRocklin  Год назад

      For me a five way switch is much quicker to access the other tones VS a three-way plus a push/pull.

    • @cachelesssociety5187
      @cachelesssociety5187 Год назад

      @@McRocklin Cool! Thanks for replying. (Your writing is very good by the way - I could have you write for a theme park ride in the future perhaps. )I can talk to my tech about maybe installing it that way. The other thing is that in your set I was told (by someone at Fishman) that I can add another setting, using what is currently a coil split toggle, in order to toggle in both the single coils to cancel the hum. Do you find there's more hum in the single coils or do the Fishmans sound quieter than traditional single coils? (Fishman say their Koch set is a bit different and those single coils may be quieter, but they gave me the impression there would be hum otherwise (exception being sets that combine the single coils, like Townshend and Abasi).

    • @griiseknoen
      @griiseknoen Год назад

      @@McRocklin When you say "split" - you are referring to "Voice 3" (the single coil voice) of the pickups , right?
      I listened to your demo of your own set and I liked the sound *a lot.* Especially the single-coil type sounds.
      However, I have some questions specifically about the singlecoil/split options that still remain unclear to me. (I've checked the Fishman website but to no avail...)
      *My question:* Is there any way to connect a switch to change between the inner and outer coil when selecting the single coil voicing? This would be especially useful when combining the two pickups in singlecoil-mode. I would like to be able to switch between a combination of the inner coils (the two coils being closer to each other, for sort of like a Strat 2- or 4- position type sound) and a combination of the outer coils (the two coils being further apart - hopefully capturing something akin to the sound of a Telecaster in mid-position).
      Can this be done?
      Thanks again for your great videos!
