I hope these women get the help an compensation they deserve.. I'm a male suffering the consequences of pelvic hernia mesh in 2006 which was tottaly the wrong procedure to what should have been done! I'm not alone with this where's the help for us coming from now?
Here in the States, there are huge mass tortes (lawsuits) not only against Johnson and Johnson, but several other major companies. It has been noted that the mesh used, was never ment to be placed in the human body.
Debbie Witek These huge Companies get away with, negligence, immoral and criminal behavior, among other things.imo they should be shut down and thrown out of business.
I was offered this surgery last year. The doctor even told me about the lawsuit that's happening in Australia. He showed me a list of side effects from the mesh and then a list from the older style surgery where they use your own body faschia to form a sling instead of the mesh. I went for the old style operation. Sure it took longer to heal, but there was way less risk than the mesh.
I had mesh put around my esophagus due to diaphragm rupture...it sliced through me like a knife and causing a large infection and plural effusions requiring more surgery.
She lost her health, job, marriage, self, reason to live. Winning won't end her pain, but it will give here some justice and cover all her medical expenses.
My mother had this done. She was in pain for the rest of her life. She had UTI's and took antibiotics then got yeast infections. Over and over and over.
I had surgery 2008. I delivered a big baby, my youngest and later had stress incontinence. Had this kind of surgery and helped me up to this time. It is helpful on my part. Since it's close to 15 years I will let the doctor, my gynecologist or whoever they refer to check its conditoon.
In Ontario, Canada, doctors deny the existence of these terrible side effects...and thus lawyers don't feel they have a case. I have suffered effects that are unimaginable and have no hope of relief or compensation. Helpless in Toronto🙏🇨🇦
I'm currently suffering from pelvic organ prolapse and my doctor a resident suggested mesh I have decided against it. My family has also been stripped from being emergency medical contacts
Canada's health care is a joke and we seem to be nothing but test subjects or brushed off cuz the word chronic seems to be scary for our medical community. I can't get over just how much Canadian doctors don't really care or don't have time too. Sending love from New Brunswick Canada
This is only being compared to thalidomide because of the amount of people affected. The mesh problems are horrible but comparing them to infant deaths and deformation in the title, seems to be making light of them in a very passive aggressive way
I'll be totally honest sometimes mis titling videos can have a positive effect for some I only clicked on this because of the title but now I won't ever have this implanted
I'm aware of both tragedies. The title did bother me a bit. Though the real difference about the mesh is it's not as obvious as missing limbs. It's also a newer problem that they are trying to get awareness to prevent even more people suffering. Instead of trying to compare and judge who is suffering worse. I'd rather focus on how to prevent these tragedies and cure the victims.
but in australia they still use johnson & johnson mesh till today, I have mine 5 months ago and will removed tomorrow, we shouldn't believe 100% what doctors suggested
Yup. I’m suffering now because of it. I’m constantly in pain. No longer can jog, or run, or hike, or dance or do anything I used to normally do. Life is over.

I need mine removed. I am in HORRIBLE PAIN have been for 11 years now. But the death rate of women who have it removed is 1 in 5 within 5 years -- often a long slow death from the complications. So DAMNED either way. The settlement is insignificant and does nothing for the pain.
Don't get me wrong it must be horrible but the consequences aren't nearly as devastating as thalidomide and in my opinion it's inappropriate to compare the two issues.
Oh yeah I have a hernia mesh surgery (inguinal/groin area) that is causing long term discomfort, nerve damage/pain, also potential can become infected and cause major health issues.
i hope these women will be able to get help and undo this procedure, but we also have to understand that our healthcare systems, procedures, and treatments will NEVER be perfect

My friend had mesh for a hernia. It crippled him for life.
