Me: "THANK YOU! I'm not the only annoyed about that.Seriously, when is that going to be addressed? It's been two volumes already. It's really pissing me off now. I guess since it took five volumes to reveal Jaune's semblance, I guess we have at least three more volumes before the silver eyes becomes relevant again.
The sooner we can get an answer, the sooner we know exactly what this Silver Eye thing can and can't do....and the sooner SA can make that Death Battle between her and Maka Albarn from Soul Eater, which I know they want to do but they won't do until they know exactly what Ruby's SE-thing does.
It's actually been 5 volumes with Silver Eyes too. We first heard of it since the very first goddamn episode. It's pissing me off too. They took way too long to reveal Jaune's semblance, making it utterly a disappointment with all the hype surrounding it. No doubt they're going to do that with Silver Eyes too.
Heck, I wouldn't even be surprised if the reality is that even THEY don't know what Silver Eyes are yet. They just wrote a random McGuffin and thought "we'll just figure this shit out later. The viewers will just think we're being mysterious."
My guess. Ruby's afraid to ask
But we haven't gotten any hint that Ruby is afraid to ask. If we at least got that, then we at least have a confirmed reason, rather than fan speculation to explain what the writers didn't.
Maybe I'm reading to much into it but there is a lot of pressure building on Ruby. People don't mean to but they keep butting burdens on her. First Jaune in v4 mentioned how she gives them the strength to keep going (I love you dude but that was Phyra all over again, please realize it before it's too late) then, Yang in V5 says that if Ruby sticks around she will to I can't help but feel that Ruby is putting on a brave front because these people NEED her to be brave.

Sorry I am stopping here becuse ths whole post ended up devolving into an essay that I was already working on writing elsewhere, and WHEN I finish said post I will be glad to copy and paste the whole thing and share it with you. But for now I will leave you with these words.
Pure things are surprisingly fragile.
I think originally that Yang wasn't so mad about the power to turn into birds, but that Ozpin kept the secret to himself, also referring to the fact that he really is unnecessarily cryptic. It couldn't have been written better to convey that, but hey, hindsight.
Oz just made a Fullmetal Alchemist reference, and the voice actors for Qrow and Oscar are Ed and Al..... Clever

Is there a certain reason why turning into birds is a bad thing? They could change back, and turning into birds seems like a pretty cool thing to do. You can travel faster in flight and it comes in handy for stealth missions

Not exactly; they did indeed accept, but (spoiler) Raven has ANOTHER secret that she feels was forced upon her, so she doesn't trust Ozpin

@@iceluvndiva21 Why it was called for transparency from their principal in the wake of losing their school and friends to his war, or why it was necessary to call him out when he decided to dodge any further questions after it's revealed he set them up to die and was never planning on revealing that their deaths would end up meaningless?
At the end of the day Ozpin just cried (understandably) and dodged questions and waited for the rest of the cast to sort their shit out. He's been present ever since and never really left, so that means both the Apathy events and the mech fight he was perfectly willing to let the rest of the cast die as long as Oscar wasn't involved.

Thanks! I don't think it's an entirely fair comparison to be made though. We have the luxury of adding and removing parts of the script in this format (i.e. exposition that the fans already know) to make space for that stuff. The problem right now is that 20 minutes of overall screentime per episode just isn't enough for a show with this many characters and relationships. (FINALE SPOILERS HERE:) Notice how we didn't get a Blake and Yang confrontation, even though it's been set up.
I blame Ozpin. He took away all the characters agency alone.
I disagree with that, Mr. Cube. It's extremely fair. If you're making an animation with multiple collaborators, bad characterizations are on your hands. Just like the ones Ruby removed when she told Jaune to not stop what he's doing. Season 4 had every availability to flesh out Oscar.
I think the series skips over the fact that puberty is going to be hell for Oscar I mean as bad as a boys one normally is his will be alot worst

Yeah, Yang was pretty stupid this entire volume overall. She was never all that smart, but she wasn't outright an idiot either. Not until this volume at least.
Isaac Self He's asking them to risk their lives for his fight, one that he failed to stop centuries before they were even born. They have every right to know what they want to know.
That doesn't even come close to explaining why Yang was so upset by Oz giving them shapeshifting powers.

Well in defense of Ozpin I always like to give a character a benefit of the doubt and let them explain. True he’s worse than Dumbledore when it comes to withholding VITAL information but on the other side of the coin he’s very much like Dumbledore as well. Very wise and knowledgeable and possibly has many deeds to his name.
One prime example I can point out where people see him as a bad guy and are merely blinded is Pyrrha. Qrow, Glynda, and James were all on his side. Regardless of anything they tried Amber was going to die and Cinder gain the rest of the Fall Maiden Powers. I believe it was Ironwood who strongarmed Oz to find someone to try and be the Maiden. Glynda and Qrow didn’t like but they saw some of what he was saying and 3 against 1 Ozpin approached Pyrrha and explained it all, and backed her into the corner of ‘we need you to do this’. Ozpin wanted her to choose but Ironwood wouldn’t have it he wanted this, someone to not think just do it.
And I think that’s been the case throughout all his reincarnations something has come up and each time he’s had his arm twisted and he shoulders the responsibility of taking the blame.

I think it's adorable that Ruby didn't even notice Yang's robotic arm until she pointed it out.
Maybe it's because she's repressed the thought that the embodiment of strength that is her sister could lose a piece of her so important, or she hasn't gotten used to the idea. I refuse to believe it's just lazy writing, I know the staff is capable of telling a narrative without spoonfeeding everything.

That's what I'm talking about, too. It's like if the humans in the one of the Transformers universes thought their ability to turn into car and stuff was anything but cool. It's dumb and it makes no sense. Honestly, this scene would work better if Qrow causing everyone around him bad luck WAS Ozpin's gift instead of an awesome secondary power. But nope, they're acting like Ozpin was a Nazi at Auschwitz over this.
