    Yeah, many of the Kummeli team had been musician since 70s. They had sayings like ”Artisti maksaa”, ”artist will pay”, originally propably from cheap concert venues they had been touring earlier. I can recommend too musacorcer videos by Kummeli.

    The standard answer in Kummelís musavisa- sketch was Canada. The answer was never, for example, any European country, Asian country, African country, etc., but it was always Canada.

    The idea of this sketch is, that the song has many cliches of Sweden and Swedish people, so the right answer would obviously be Sweden, but still the competitors answer "Canada". And that continues in every MusaVisa (Music quiz) sketch: No matter who the competitors are or where the song comes from, they will always answer "Canada".

    Those boxes did exist for one quiz show in Finland, Kymppitonni where they were sitting on similar boxes that were placed in like 3x3 grid on top of each other. It was fairly similar in concept to Hollywood Squares. But I think in the sketch they just did it for added comedy than actually referring to any specific shows.

      I think they just happened to have one those booths lying around. Also they are intended for one person, so it's a bit comical to have three of them sitting on the floor of one.

  • @finnishculturalchannel
    @finnishculturalchannel Месяц назад +6

    "Kanada" became a popular catchphrase. Something you can answer when you don't know the answer. Both are musicians. Silvennoinen particularly is an accomplished musician and was known as an musician before he became a comedian also. That's why Kummeli sketches are often musician and music related. Some of which were imitations of other artists and their artist friends. In the episodes there often was also an artist guest or a guest band, who sometimes were included into sketches: "Janita "Jos ikävä tuntuu tältä" (Kummeli feat)". Kummeli released two albums of their songs and they toured as a comedy act. Here's their song 'Kanada': "Kummeli - Artisti maksaa: Kanada". Those boxes and headsets are common in quiz shows, in which the contestants aren't supposed to hear other contestants answers. Of course no need for that box in Musavisa.

      Olli Keskinen, who only played the presenter, is not a musician, although Olli has written songs for Heikki Silvennoinen at least. Heikki Silvennoinen and Heikki Hela have at least played the guitar, for Timo Kahilainen we only found information that he is a musician, actor and screenwriter, best known for the Kummeli series
      Silvennoinen has played in several bands and in the 1990s on Mikko Kuustonen's solo records. In addition, Silvennoinen has released a few of his own solo albums
      Heikki Hela used to play in the band Gospel Power. And besides, Hela has released solo albums
      Kahilainen has been involved in at least one of Silvennoinen's solo albums and released one of his own solo albums (2024)

      @@Tuomas_Oskari I referred to Silvennoinen and Kahilainen, who performed in the music video. Silvennoinen's career started already in 1972 in a band Tabula Rasa. They managed to make name for themselves in the height of the Finnish progressive rock era. He's nickname is 'Kangasala's Clapton'. On his solo albums he also sings. He also has his own record label. Heikki Hela had a big hit in the 90s with his song 'Uneton yö'.

      @@finnishculturalchannel Yeah, but as said, Heikki Hela, one of the standard actors of the series, is also a musician, a guitarist to be exact. Only Keskinen is not a musician, but he has also worked as a lyricist.
      And as said, Silvennoinen has played in several bands, but also made solo albums. Tabula Rasa is just one of the bands in which Silvennoinen has played

    It's hilarious because it enforces the Finnish stereotype of Swedish men basically being a bunch of ... I don't have any politically correct way of saying it, so let's go with "feminine homosexual". Lennart is a man's name and "Jag tycker om Lennart och han tycker om mig" means "I like Lennart and he likes me".

    Most of the guys are/were talented musicians. Most of the stuff they invented in touring buss. Heikki Silvennoinen (the one singing) is the most talented blues guitarists in FInland, who has played guitar in various albums and produced various albums also. He started as a youngster with his progressive rock band Tabula Rasa. You can find some music from the 1970s in RUclips still.

    Fun fact: Kummeli is in Finland also a fixed non-illuminated maritime safety device built on the beach and intended for day navigation, which serves as an aid for rough positioning. In terms of structure, it is, for example, a white-painted stone barn or a wooden, concrete or steel structure. So thats why the price was white t-shirt. 😊
