Any reasonable person with an instinct for self preservation would disapprove of the undeniable threat that going to the creche represents. Shart has no reason yet to know or trust that lae'zel won't turn her in and side with the githyanki searching for the artifact the moment she learns that shart has it. Why would she approve if or even be neutral about you basically deciding you will all be traveling right into the heart of the very ppl most likely to be able to turn lae'zel against the entire group and trigger her into feeling obligated to side against her. ShadowHeart and her mission are directly threatened by your decision to go head to the creche, not to mention lae'zel having just reaffirmed Voss's mandate to hunt exactly what shes guarding, making it highly likely lae'zel will defer to her orders and mandate above her growing loyalty to the party.
@@goldpheniox3768 I've never liked the nickname either and won't use it, but it caught on in the player community and even Larian Studios have been using it. So 🤷♂️ we're going to have to live with it.
Lae'zel is the best. She's literally a teenage alien who shouldn't be helping us at all, but she goes out of her way to try and purify us as well. We're literally aliens to her. She's better than people give her credit for
Lae’zel is so underrated, the emotional journey she goes on throughout the story is incredibly satisfying and she is probably my second favorite romance option behind Karlach
Dream girl a combo of the two with a little karlach thrown in. Shadowheart just isn't it for me even after changing her she's still kinda well bitchy. If you talk to laezel first in camp after helping the tiefling she gets mad and try to start drama which you call shadowheart out on. She even pulled a knife on laezel while we slept once cuz she didn't trust her. I was SH wtf are you doing. Passed some speech check kept them bith alive then romance laezel after
The huge difference though is lae'zel proves to be capable of showing she's kind at heart beyond being nice to the party simply because she likes them. Minthara on the other hand demonstrates she will be friendly to you because she likes you, but there is no playthrough or outcome in which minthara is ever anything but a cruel person. That's actually part of what makes her such an important additional potential companion. There needed to be some contrast, some characters who simply don't grow. So Minthara and lae'zel are perfectly balanced contrasts of that idea. Both raised in highly totalitarian, violent cultures very focused on class status, one who proves to be capable of questioning and rejecting many of the toxic parts of her background and experience. The other who represents the opposite. Incapable of questioning or recognizing flaws in their way of thinking and how they see others. Minthara continually explains her cultural background through an attitude of feeling it is superior and without need of cultural reform. Virtually every minthara interaction is defined by her callous cruelty and dismissal of other ways of life and thinking. All she wants is to eventually return to it, because it's comfortable and what she knows. She is the same person by the end that she was at the start, with zero growth. She never shows what might even suggest she's capable of selflessness or acting heroically. She simply shows she'll be nice to people she likes, but that only goes so far as interests align. She reaffirms several times that, should you and her be at odds over something, she wouldn't think twice about killing even you, and often mocks you in moments you do something selfless or isn't motivated by your own pure self interests. So. That's the discussion I find interesting. That Larian recognized the value of having her as an evil character whose identity is what it is, and is never influenced to grow by your own example or behavior. She is one of very few act 1 companions whose identity is set in stone, rather than designed to be capable of reflecting your own. Astarion, in some playthroughs, can wind up embracing selflessness and empathy and growing beyond his trauma. In others, he can become a toxic abuser worse than his former master. Ultimately a folk hero ending, an abuser and potential BBEG in the making, and several points s in between. Lae'zel can become an indoctrinated soldier so fixated on fulfilling the expectations of an evil false goddess that she can wind up ignorantly accepting becoming a lamb for slaughter. Or she can become a rebel leader bent on societal reform that utterly reject me her former beliefs. Shart, similar... Can bo so fixated on living up to what her abusive kidnapper goddess is sadistically making her into that she'll eventually return to torturing her own parents after killing the daughter of a goddess, or she can question and reject former beliefs entirely, reclaim her former self, save her parents, and live the life she secretly longed for, caring for animals, etc. And so on.
