Why did you add the last line of code for the graphics? the "par(mfrow=c(1,1))"?
par(mfrow=c(2,2)) makes a 2 b 2 grid of graphs.
par(mfrow=c(1,1)) makes a 1 by 1 grid (or just one graph)
