- It's Friday 9th February 2018, and we were in York at the NRM when we realised we had time to get the train back to one of our favourite places on All The Stations .. Knaresborough, but this time Vicki got to go to the castle, and Geoff had his drone with him...
See the episode from All The Stations where we started our day at Knaresborough: • Not Cool, Marshall - E...
Here's Geoffs drone video of the viaduct and castle: • Video
Also .. we meant to get out at Poppleton on the way back, but it was dark by then, and we had to make our connection at York to get back to London. One day, we'll get out at Poppleton!
The audio is out of sync about 7 minutes in. Fear not! The earth is still spinning and you can still enjoy the video. Try not to comment on it ...
Oh, that's what it was - I thought your were trying to save ventriloquism as an art form.
Trying hard not to comment on it.......
I blamed the chromecast . Love the videos
All The Stations we still love you
@@shaunhouse8634 *you were
That look that Vicki gives when Geoff says, “That’s the last Pacer you’ll ever be on.” Worth watching the entire video just for that look. 😅
Buy a pacer, and turn it into... a bus! Complete the circle.
And then turn it into a shelter for the homeless.
You have to make it at least TWICE as bumpy as a pacer.
www.crowdfunder.co.uk/housing-the-homeless-1
Christopher Lewis It already is mate
Nick Bond Wright Streetlites on rails??!!! Heaven help us if they do!!
I love how RUclips's auto subtitling engine interpreted the Pacer engine noise as [applause]
you should try using it to translate things some of the sentences it comes up with are weird
It says its "Music" for me. lol
Probs as sarcasm, in that it even works ;)
It's 2020 and virus lockdown . I have had the pleasure to binge watch EVERY ONE OF THESE ! Thanks you guys for taking me with you. Cheers from California!
I have to laugh because, even five months later, I'm catching up on all these lovely videos while still very much in quarantine. They're the perfect escape!
One small step for Vicki, one giant leap for Vicki Explores. More please.
You'll have to go back on a warm, sunny, summer's day. The benches just outside the castle with a view of the sunlit viaduct are one of the best picnic spots around, and there is also an excellent bakery down some quaint streets in the town. Certainly one of the many things I miss about not living in York, even if it did become a running joke amongst friends that I always went to Knaresborough when the weather was good!
Nice episode. Makes me want to visit Knaresborough. Vicki's enthusiasm for castles is certainly infectious.
When Vicky realised she was going on a pacer he bobble bounced up and down
You two are getting more and more like Morecambe and Wise every time!! When you were trying to coax Vicki off the Pacer near the end Geoff, I was dying to see the gag completed by the doors closing and the train moving off!! (It would have been worth going one stop to Poppleton and back just for the craic!!)
Re: "You two are getting more and more like Morecambe and Wise..."
Do you mean as in?:
Vicki sits on a Pacer,
Geoff says: "Get out of that! You can't can you?"
Yes, something like that. Portillo's got stiff competition now!!
Incidentally, when the Pacers go, it won't automatically mean new trains though - I think Vivarail are still planning to try and flood the North with ex-LUL D78 Stock!!
Apart from the new CAF trains, which I believe are mostly going to the North West, Northern are supposedly getting cascaded 150s from Great Western. Regular travellers on the Durham Coast Line are looking forward to their new third-hand trains.
Ian Mcclavin I don't think Michael's got competition. I think they've left him, behind, lol
What precludes a half-hourly service between Knaresborough and Poppleton is the single track and until that is re-doubled, the service will remain hourly on that section. However, thankfully the space is still there along that section to allow it
Visit Mother Shipton..
Loved Bobble Hat bounce!!
It's so good to hear the !All The Stations" theme again!
I watched this with the audio muted. Vickies expressions are even better as well as Geoff's playfulness.
Ah York, my home town station. My friends and I, at about the age of 19, decided we wanted to go for a jolly somewhere, walked into York station and decided to buy a ticket to anywhere for under £10. We choose Knaresborough, went there, and essentially caused havoc on the pitch and putt and in the pub by the station. Fond memories!
Why can I only like this video once?? So unfair!
Dom You can like it any odd number of times.
Why oh why oh why oh why do I enjoy watching you two travel so much? And I thought I was the only person in the world who still remembered the Ladybugs Picnic.
You two are simply wonderful together.
OMG! At 06:30 is one of the most beautiful train scenes I have ever seen! Well done, and thank you! You've given me so many ideas for my next trip to the UK - I cannot wait.
Love it. You guys bought the domain... and had it redirect to this video!
Good one .... looking forward to more Vicki Explores... if times get rough, you guys could make a killing doing all the stations tours...
Half day in york then half day in knaresborough is my favorite day out when the weather is nice
Of all the channels to encounter an old Sesame Street bit! Wow.
shows vicky has good memory and i remember that song
Here is full song ruclips.net/video/vX9J7WcYtxI/видео.html
Loved the clips
Vicki, you could easily get another episode out of Knaresborough, if you fancy a return visit. Apart from Mother Shipton's cave and the petrifying well, there is also The Old Chemist Shop in the marketplace - all worth a visit. Surprised Geoff didn't mention the rather unusual signalbox too.
Cheers for now,
Dougie.
Vicki is my railway-related celebrity crush. ;) Cheers from Warsaw!
Knaresborough is awesome! visited when I was in the UK in the summer of 2013. Love the chequerboard buildings...
Now that the Swanage Railway links to Wareham on the mainline since 2017, Vicki could/should go to Corfe Castle Station from which the castle is "just" visible! And do one of her Explore reports.
I love the National Railway Museum. It's been a few years since I was last there but I've got hundreds of hundreds of pictures from there.
Great video.
Knaresborough - York was my first train ride in the UK ever and it was on a Class 143/144 Pacer.
That was funny and now another town on my bucket list.
Pacers are already appearing on some of our preserved railways, guys.,! E.g. East Lancs and Keighley & WVR, to name but two…there should be more in the not too distant future
Pure. Dead. Brilliant. And quaint. Moved to Cattal (one stop toward York from Knaresborough) from SW London 4 years ago. Not regretted it for a second. Relocation? Do it. Good tea for Geoff, Castles & Pacers for Vicky. No underground though.
Great video!
Vicki is an adorable bean.
Ladybug picnic - utter classic!
What fun. The Vicki Explores are popping up on my RUclips Recommends again.
Vicki at the end being forced to leave the Pacer. Geoff, I think she loves Pacers more than just about anything.
You really should turn one into an All the Stations Merchandise Shop.
pacerpoints.com now points at this video
tvandbeermakehomergo Glad I wasn't the only one who looked it up. 😂
Another great piece. Don't forget to visit Sandal castle, and soon!
Lovely part of the world up there!
What a beautiful place.
Love the old district line moquette scarf Vicki. x
Many years ago, when Pacers were new, a mate of mine acquired one of the fibreglass train fronts put on buses to promote Pacers. Knowing that he tends to keep stuff, he probably still has it.
Attended an H.& S. exhibition in Harrogate one day, stopped off at Knaresborough on the way back. Spoke to the Bobby to ask if I could photograph him doing a staff exchange (to which he said yes), wish, now, that I'd asked if I could take a look inside the box. Tis a glorious little town.
10:40 "And that's how we're ending the video." The expression on Vicki's face says it all. Geoff, you are one lucky...
My first railway experience in Britain was in Pacer (Huddersfield to Bradford) and later I tried to find what was that thing I just was in. That's when I learned of it's hilarious history. Luckily we don't have them down here in Kent :)
They have pacers going from Cardiff Central all the time, and I saw one going from Paignton station on Tuesday
Love Vicki Explores.
Wonderful.
Fantastic
Excellent video as usual. What's in the planning for late spring ,early summer?Loved all the stations last year.
Even know it did do something in 7 minutes, which I have no idea what it did :p it still a pretty awesome video Geoff and Vickie, I see at 10:51 Vickie decided to go on strike by staying on that Pacer, after watching that video you know inspired me to making a trip to Knaresborough now :) btw buying a pacer for an All the Station shop is a great idea ;)
What a quaint little signalbox!
Strategically positioned Yorkshire Tea sign over Geoff's shoulder 8:23.
their castle is fantastic.
thanks for the earworm.
Vicki had that Darth Vader look at the end like "NOW you're gonna feel the POWER of the Dark Buscuit!!!"
Knaresborough! Put that as an answer in your All the Stations survy. To the question, place you wanted to visit because of seeing it in your videos. Nice to see it featured again!
I suspect when it's the last day of a Pacer, Vicki will be there!! And yes, I've heard the Ladybugs' Picnic song too :)
Bravo (!!) Big Hit you have Won Again
Wow! "Vicki Explores" gets a proper title, right on the "All the Stations" logo splash! About time, I think.
very nice video
9:30 great to see the smoke from a non-electrified train. We don't have that in london
Surely you haven't visited London Marylebone? DMUs and Diesels Locomotives at that station :)
Grange over Sands has a long seat too. These days it ought to be called Grange over Grass!
Ladybug Picnic! I love that one!!! Yayyy Vicki!!!
Excellent
that feeling when Vicki left the pacer, thats how i feel when im on my last train in the UK
112 comments but only 24 likes? What is going on? Lovely video. I miss the summer...
Anyone ever wonder if Vicki's Patronus charm would be a pacer if she was ever in Harry Potter? 😂
I associate that music with summer. It doesn’t seem right hearing it in February!
I only found this channel from going to PacerPoints.com, researching info on the Indiana Pacers.
Two years later and Pacers are still rattling around the North and Southwest
Half Sprinter and half Pacer. Is that a Spacer? 😉
nah, that's a printer!
Or a Pinter? Because a drink might be a good idea.. ;)
Do NOT forget to do a "The Last Ever Pacer" video, on the last day that Pacers run.
And get Vicki a cab ride in a Pacer too!
Half Sprinter half Pacer = Spacer
The semaphore looked soo familiar
I love Knaresborough. Have you heard of the rock houses? Think my friend and I were some of the last to be able to look round as think they're now shut due to H&S issues, but they were carved into the rock and I believe occupied up to the end of the 20th century. 😀👍
I guess 18 people disliked because they hate the fact Geoff said there are no more Pacers.
• To convert a Pacer into a shed would be quite a significant upgrade :-)
• Vicki Explores is much better without the tacky rainbow-coloured Brush Script logo :-D
• There have been plans put forward to increase the frequency between Knaresborough and York, particularly with a new garden village being planned alongside the line, but there are long sections of single track that would make it more difficult to timetable a half-hourly service, and the signalling and level crossings are still Victorian so would very likely need to be upgraded as well. But all credit to Northern for their commitment to improve Sunday services on most/all lines to the same level as during the week, I'm not aware of many other TOCs where that is the case.
And a few years later, the infrastructure has now been upgraded, and the line gets a half-hourly service all the way to York, 7 days a week.
5:09 did someone just say 'OH YAA' like in bloody school?
Buy Vicki a Pacer and she'll have an office at the bottom of your garden while you're at it get a sprinter have it as Geoff's games room
Absolutely the best theme song for all the stations...
Maybe?
Is there a "Ladybug all the stations tea mug?"... it doesn't have to be in Welsh...but...
I Did visited Knaresborough today, inspired by All the Stations and a Model Railway layout called 'The Worlds End' it was really a wonderful place to visit, at 4:08 I did see that signal and looked up where Bebra was, it in Germany. so this signal is German, sadly I didn't do this trip on a pacer, unlike Poppleton :)
Was going to point that out. Knaresborough is twinned with Bebra.
Ha, I remember the Ladybug Picnic, I was three at the time - but my gosh, what a flashback!!!
Did you see the New age crystal shop in Knaresborough? You can buy Amethyst geodes! Vicki, you'd love that.
Come back to Scarbados! :)
Not sure it’s the main reason for an hourly service but I believe it goes single track from knaresbrough to york
Just discovered your video's Vicki & Geoff. Please make a Pacer cafe :)
I was enthusiastic about watching this video because Knaresborough does not seem to get vlogged much. Maybe it would have been enhanced with footage of famous Mother Shipton's Cave and the quaint town but still interesting info about the castle.
Isn't there a bug hotel by Brixton arches? There certainly was in the summer, hopefully it's not been moved.
There's a pacer for sale on a website Vicki, you should buy it
For real?
Tariq Albastaki for real, I will get the link
Tariq Albastaki www.wnxx.com/forsale/index.htm scroll to the bottom of the page
Only £25,000! I sense another kickstarter coming...
Class 141 as well! She might as well go for it.
That was the strangest intro yet.
And strangest outro!
Thoughts on Northern hiring class 68s from DRS to use on the Cumbrian Coast services, instead of the 37?
Vicki and Pacers reunited
"One small step for a Geoff, one giant leap for Vicki-kind"
if u read this northern runs services leeds to york and leeds to knaresbrough so they run 30mins inbetween each other so knaresbrough gets 2 trains each hour but york gets 1 train an hour
RUclips's captions think that "a half hourly service" is "a half Audi service"
How do you register your miles travelled on Pacers to get your Pacer Points, as I regularly travel on them, but use my South Yorkshire mobility pass not a ticket so have no proof of journeys?
The home, in the middle arch of the viaduct, when the train is crossing? I want to live there.
another great video , you two. and it's taken me this long to realise that vicki's "very sensible shoes are in fact Dr martens :-) and I still don't know what a pacer is? will someone put me out of my miserable ignorance please ??? thanks, Robert.
Vicky need not fear: there is a PRESERVED Pacer at Butterley!
