Sabaly has to be traded for, and Dallss will try to trade elsewhere because the Fever have little to offer. Nalyssa Smith. Lexie Hull. And a draft pick is the best they can do. Dalles doesn't need Mitchell.
I loved watching Kelz Mitchell in the second half of 2024. If you watched KM prior to after the Olympic break. This hurts to write but KM would just dribble the ball ad nauseum, and didn’t play ball with CC. The ONLY player on the FEVER that understood CC was Temi Fagbenle from the get go . I live in San Francisco, and am stoked we have Temi on the Valks. I was blindsided that Temi was not protected. KM was spectacular in the second half of the season. If she doesn’t stay with the Fever it would be a HUGE mistake on her part. What team is going to have a player like CC in the backcourt that you know is going to be handing you dimes ? CC is generous player, KM is NOT going to find than anywhere but in Indiana. KM has more lucre now - all things considered - has more lucre than 90% of Americans. If you add in her pro career money with her overseas ie. China at the moment , and still has possibly another four years playing close to peak, and still plays overseas in the off season KM would be able to retire very comfortably before she’s thirty five years old, I mean multi millionaire status with merch, and playing time. KP is an entirely different player, whomever gets her knows what they’re getting. I love KM ,make no mistake; however, I remember how long it took her to handle Clark’s passes unlike Temi who read CC from the start of 2024. I think other teams see this as well, and unless they have someone like Clark that can hand her the ball from anywhere on the boards I fear she may return to running out the clock dribbling … KM stay with Indiana , this is not a time to gamble … Ps. Watch the Fever games prior to the break before commenting !
She still was a ball hog in the second half of the season. Not as bad as the first half, but not a great team player with CC. I will not be sad to see her go if she chooses to leave the Fever. But what will she gain in another team?
People need to watch Fever games before, and AFTER, the Olympic break to see Kelsey's improvement and, honestly, her GREATNESS after she bought into the offensive scheme.
Mitchell does not sound like she wants to return. She is cored but will demand a trade. If not she is on a team she does NOT want to play. She will tank and be a huge waste of money. They can get Lloyd or Plum in a straight trade.
Interesting fact the Players are trying to remove or modify the Core designation in 2026 during CBA negotiations. The CBA committee lead for the Players union is Satou Sabally.
I hope KM stays with the Fever. She and CC are so dynamic and fun to watch. I think there was a learning curve/adjustment playing with CC, but as you pointed out, after the Olympic break things finally clicked. She admitted playing with CC raised her profile and attention.
This is the point I keep making. From everything I have read and heard I don't think KM wants to return. Firstly, I don't think she can take the pressure from the Fever fans. She has mentioned that several times. Secondly, I don't think she was able to adjust from being the leader of the team to being #2. She was good before CC came, but I don't think she realizes that the season she just had was mostly because the defenses were concentrating on CC. Hopefully, I am overthinking and she will return. That back court is deadly.
When is the Chinese basketball season over? I'd love to see video of Kelsey Mitchell in the lab with Stephanie White and assistant coaches, like we have from CC and AB.
I hope Satou Sabally signs with the fever. If Kelsey leaves it's okay, it would be painful but ave always thought she's not comfortable being under CC shadow last season, but I could be 100% wrong. I hope fever get Sabally
I think Plum had stated previously that she wanted to leave Vegas. I think the courtside tape we saw of Aja Wilson talking to Plum about 'white privilege' who, as a white person, might have taken it as slap to her face, not just Clark's. As for Mitchel, I'd like to see her with the Fever for one more year. If she chooses to leave, I think the Valkaries would be an ideal spot. Before Clark was drafted Kelsey was the team leader in the locker room as well as on the court. If you remember at the beginning of the 2024 season whenever she got the ball she rarely gave it up. Some might have called her a ball hog, but that's just way she was used to playing and Sides wasn't pushing for any changes. I am not saying that Kelsey is jealous of Caitlin. They have a lot of respect and even team love for each other but she might want to go to a team where she can feel comfortable being a leader and having her team mates eyes one her.
when it comes to free agency, there are no guarantees but if i were a betting man i would say that kelsey stays in indiana. as for the other kelsey, i would say that there is a greater chance of her leaving the aces. she definitely did not appreciate a'ja saying to her face on national television that part of her success was due to her "white privilege." she genuinely looked confused when a'ja said it. and hey, just expressing an opinion here! lol
For one, that video wasn’t recent. So if that truly impacted Kelsey’s decision to stay with the Aces, sh would’ve left before now. Second Kelsey’s ex-husband was black and she has spoken on black issues before which is one of the reasons Aja said she appreciated her and Paige. So let’s not try to make a narrative where there isn’t one. With that being said I can see Kelsey leaving for the reasons stated in this video. She was not a consistent starter and the Aces probably will not win the championship next year given they lost both of their assistant coaches to head roles. Reasons I could see her stating is the money, new CBA plus Aces always finding “additional” ways to pay their players, and the amazing facilities and support on the higher up end that the Aces have.
Acquiring KP and letting KM go is an intriguing thought experiment. KM is electric, but KP is a better defender and would probably put up really nice numbers alongside CC. My issue is both are undersized. Keeping KM, drafting well, bolstering with FA’s would make for exciting prospects this upcoming season. Btw, I actually think Satou is a bit overhyped and overvalued, (injuries play a factor in my assessment), unless the Fever could somehow sign her outright, as a one year rental, and go from there. If not, different direction for me personally but in the new front office I trust. ☑️👌😎 JP
Kelsey may just not want to be on a Championship team. It’s a lot of pressure and some players are there just to play basketball and not concerned with anything else. Kelsey will never be the number 1 player on a team. Maybe the top scorer but she’s getting older. I think everyone would love Kelsey to stay with a Fever but she’s gotta do what’s right for her. 🩷🏀
I would like to bring KM back, but if she doesn’t I would try to trade from the likely tanking Mystics, Ariel Atkins, and continue going for a free agent SF or PF who can space and defend. I think the team would be much better overall if they bring in more good defenders and Atkins is still very good on offense and is only one year older than KM.
I think KM really enjoyed playing with CC and the Fever last year. They should go more with team defence next year which should help her defence. Really hope they get Satou.
I will simply say when people show you who they are believe them! It’s really that simple for me nothing is hidden if you are paying attention. When it comes to Kelsey Mitchell’s FA here are my observations: 1. She has stated multiple times that she is looking forward to being a FA. FYI the same language used by another star player & UFA cored player Satou that has requested a trade🤔 2. She spoke about her current team in the past tense or separate from herself ( Indy Allstar game quotes) 3. KM appeared annoyed did not want to participate at joint post game press conferences with CC especially early in the 1st half of the season but I acknowledge a change was made to appear more happy in the 2nd half the season but still had moments. This showed negative emotions towards playing with CC. 4. On court play looking off CC & refusing to pass her the ball when she called for it. Really bad early in the season but some minor changes in the 2nd half of the season but still apparent. This again shows some personal negative emotions about playing with CC. 5. She writes articles expressing her feeling of appreciation & also discomfort with new Fever fanbase. 6. She refuses to commit to playing next season in Indy when there’s no reason not to because she’s locked into a cored players max contract that will not change for any reason. So, unless she wants to leave & prefers to keep it behind close doors as long as possible to avoid PR blow back from CC’s fanbase. There’s no reason not to commit to playing next year in Indy IMO if that’s hee desire 🤷♂️. 7. Finally, Fever management expressing their undying love to have KM back publicly & stating no matter what they are coring her. This sounds like a preemptive PR campaign preparing the fan base for a trade with the excuse it was not us we wanted her back IMO My conclusion is this clearly shows she wants a trade & that’s what I expect & she will not be back next year. This doesn’t make opinion correct it just how I read the room paying attention to every detail proved to try & understand what is possibly coming. Can she stay? Of course, it will just make all of her past behavior I listed very questionable for someone who wanted to stay but we will shall see.
@@Darth_LordB2 I totally agree on the FIRST HALF. As I wrote above. The second half she was totally different player . When CC made the ROTY Kelz was emphatic about looking forward to being in her backcourt again; however, I have to say she is being very coy about leaving he options open, that I’ll never understand. There’s not a team in the league better for her . She will not score from assists like she has playing with CC. I haven’t looked up Kelz PPG but I’m a quite certain many are from dimes coming from CC. If KM left Indiana over lucre I would lose all respect for her, but I don’t see that happening. Every team knows without CC she will never score close to where she was in second half 2024. Many W players have huge egos, and the point guards are not going to be so generous sharing the ball like Caitlin.
KM is not a leader. In 2024 she benefited greatly from CC's assists and CC being double-teamed. She's not a strong defensive player, weak on rebounds and assists and is bit of a ball-hog. Fine if she stays, fine if she goes. If she goes, then give Grace Berger a chance. Fever actually need another big along side AB as an enforcer especially if Smith can't get her priorities straight. Dump/trade Katie Lou, Wallace, and Wheeler. Plum might be cool along side CC.
Once KM bought into CC's Iowa-like up-tempo offensive scheme, she and CC were GREAT together!!! THE SWISH SISTERS are the BEST backcourt in the W , and I believe that KM is the quickest guard, and best ball-handler, in the W (I've been watching the W on and off for 27 years). Most of us noticed that Kelsey stopped "hogging" the ball once she realized how amazingly effective the offense became when executed correctly. She also started making more assists and was clearly more team oriented at that point. Kelsey is great, and I really hope that she stays with the Fever.
The most important factor in the WNBA's core designation is that the WNBA pays so little a player can just walk away from the WNBA team and go make more money playing in Europe. NFL players don't really have that option, unless they chose to retire.
Kelsey never held the NCAA scoring record she was second when she finished behind Plum. She did set many records maybe include a breakdown of those and who has since surpassed her records. Regardless I want her on the fever. She is one of the best in the league.
@@TheRobinLundbergI thought you were saying Mitchell had the record. I think plum set the record and the next year Mitchell got close but ended in 2nd. It would be wild to have CC, KM and KP on one team. But they would not play at the same time.
