It was smart to remove that scene, it would've made Cady seem mean for snapping the crown, saying nobody deserves it because she didn't want it. Calling it 'just plastic' felt like a better message in the context of the movie

I think with what Regina said it would have looked like she's destroying being prom queen because she didn't want anyone else to be it because she knows it would go sour for her.
Without what Regina said it looks like she is destroying the roll because it isn't fair for one person to be crowned when everyone is amazing in their own way. It's more empowering and positive.

I mean i think it'd be more interesting if the video said that the two characters mirror each other, except one causes destruction for her own ego and the other causes destruction for the good of everyone. Regina destroyed people's self esteem in the beginning of the movie, while Cady eventually destroyed the school's entire social hierarchy.

I like this scene only as a deleted scene, because inside of the movie it would deliver a different message (as many people has pointed out).
But this scene shows how is Regina's mentality. She will win or no one would do it.
In the end, she received the crown too, showing her there's a better path. Cady (the girl who quit her spot( wasn't happy about it, she was happier after sharing the crown. Sharing your wins it's better that sharing your misery, and the fact that there's more equality between her peers can also be good... She doesn't need to keep competing against them.
No wonder that after that she joined a sports team.

  • @ariannebrodeur

I think people are missing the point of the deleted scenes parallel; the point is that Regina broke something so no one could have it but her, Cady broke something to share it and give it to everyone. THATS the parallel. I do think the scene works perfectly well without it so I see why they deleted it it didn't add enough to be justified, but I feel it's pretty clear what the writers were going for. Parallels like that can be really powerful in writing (take House Of Wax's multiple parallels with Bo and Vincent and the main characters, and especially the ending cinematic shot if ykyk) but this movie didn't necessarily need it for this scene to work, it just didn't Elevate it enough to be worth it, so they scrapped it

  • @memer3829
    @memer3829 10 месяцев назад +1

I think why she deleted it was because, the point wasn't to show how cady changed
or how bad is regina george
    the point is to show
how different people have their good and bad sides
and why we should own up to our mistakes
    the deleted scene kinda justifies
why it was right of cady to turn aaron (regina's boyfriend) against regina
    the message turns wrong
that is NOT the point of the film
    it is that
    we shouldn't do such things
the point is to be less toxic
with the deleted scene it shows how regina is as a person
    like she was dating aaron
and she broke up with him because she cheated on him with sharmon
    and then when cady came
she got a crush on aaron
who is now regina's ex boyfriend
and suddenly when regina gets to know that cady likes him
    she wants him back because
"if it can't be mine, it cannot be anyone else's"
    which shows how she is
she sees aaron as a trophey, she sees everything the same way irrespective of living or non living
who was just a random person before cady came, her ex so she cheated on both aaorn and sharmon
so now with the deleted scene
it becomes more clear to how regina is a bad person
    and how cady is good
and whatever cady did to regina is justified
ok that was a good scene
but it misses out the point of the entire film
that we all are teengers and make mistakes
    the importance of owning up
    being the better person
    etc
    get it?
and it justifies that whatever cady did to regina was right. The message becomes less clear with the scene

Y’all keep saying that it’s better without the scene because it would’ve made Cady look just as mean as Regina (breaking the crown because she doesn’t want it and so no one else can have it) but that’s literally not what it would look like at all. It would show the contrast between what Regina did and what Cady does. Regina broke it to keep it away from everyone else. Cady broke it to share a piece of it with everyone else.

  • @broadwaybutterfly310

i mean that message was loud and clear without that scene. if anything, it adds another parallel between cady and regina: regina broke her doll house 'cause she didn't want anyone else to have it, while cady broke her crown 'cause she wanted everyone to have it

I feel like it’s more kinda like a mirror of Cady and Regina. Regina breaks her dollhouse because she doesn’t want to share it. Cady breaks the crown so she can share it with everyone. It’s not needed, but really just shows that Cady is nothing like Regina even if they did play similar roles around the end of the movie.

  • @mirandamoran4791

I think that the crown's symbolism was being plastic (since it was made of plastic) and that all of them are plastic and that breaking that crown actually means that their group should break up.
