Shepherd’s Pie is made with lamb. Cottage Pie is made with mince beef. Both have Worcestershire sauce which is your tangy-ness to cut through the richness of the meat.
Northern Ontario Canadian here. There are no tomato’s or acids in our Sheppards pie. Meat, corn and or peas, potatoes. Maybe jazz it up with some cheese on top.
Shepherd’s pie should be made with lamb, cottage pie is the same but with beef. Both contain tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Pate chinois (Quebec version) is steak, corn and mashed potatoes and most of us drown it in ketchup. I prefer cottage pie.
Sheppards Pie -> Lamb. (It’s in the name.) Cottage Pie -> Beef. (Americans prefer this much more.) P.S. It’s okay you can make a little sauce. Worcestershire sauce, Ketchup. Tiny bit of,, mustard, pinch Cayenne.
Hello from England. Shepherds Pie is made with lamb, that's why it's called SHEPHERDS Pie. Traditionally, it was made with leftovers from the Sunday roast and served on Mondays. Shepherds Pie should have a crispy crust of mashed potatoes with minced lamb and onions and rich lamb gravy and served with vegetables. Best eaten with HP Sauce. If this dish is made with minced beef, it's called COTTAGE PIE, end of, no arguments, they are British dishes. The Lobster Bisque was probably not to your taste because of the alcohol which you don't drink, it should have brandy in it , maybe they didn't cook it off enough as you must burn off the alcohol. It is one of my loves.
I’ve always wanted to go to Canada ! Being rotund myself and looking at those giant food portions I wanna go even more now ..even Cosco looks like the place to find some good grub ❤️
like how the US version of bolognese is tomato sauce with meat while in actuality, it is a meat sauce with a little bit of tomato dude just had the US version of dishes
I've had my Itaki for years, the original lunchbox one. I bring a ziplock bag with marinated chicken or beef and cook things at my desk while I work and it's ready by lunchtime. Super quiet, lowkey and convenient! Haven't travelled with it yet but planning on it!
@strictlydumpling being from canada the canadian version of shepard’s pie doesn’t have any tomato paste mostly mashed patatoes, corn and ground beef and we mostly eat it with Ketchup too

Thank you for reviewing the Costco poutine! I don't think it gets enough love, it's the best cheap poutine you can get. Also, did you get Polish dog? I think most Costcos only have beef. I really miss their buckets of wings and caesar salad.
They actually do have those wings prepared alongside the rotisserie chickens at some locations! They’re 100x better air fried though since they get real wet steaming up under the heat lamps
Love the vids man, been watching you since the start basically and I've been saying for years.... COME TO SOUTH AFRICA. We are a literal melting pot of Indian, Asian, Western and ofc African foods, im telling you man you will NOT regret coming to SA!
I'd recommend checking out the Richmond, BC Costco. The parking situation is nearly impossible, but it's one of the best stocked Costco locations that caters to Asian food and cookware.
Got to give Mike he’s due. One day he’s eating at a $139 buffet, next he’s eating Costco ready meals. He really gives us both ends of the culinary spectrum 👍
The poutine you can get all the ingredients from the store, Cavendish Fries, Powdered gravy (yes I know but its good) and the cheese curds. One of my Favorite poutines from most restaurants and chains.
Head to germany and try Rouladen and Saurbraten (either with Spatzle or potato balls). Gotta try Sulze, bloodwurst, and a typical german breakfast of spreadable meats, butter, and grain breads…
I have no idea what kind of Shepard’s pie you’re eating with vinegar, but no. Vinegar doesn’t go with this dish. ALSO! This is cottage pie, made with beef. Shepard’s pie is lamb
Must be a Canadian thing, I have never had shepards pie that was tomato based. Thats exactly the way we make it here in Canada. At least our family does.
The best time to go is in the afternoon after the lunch rush and then before school's out so between like 1:30 and 3:00 I'm always in and out pretty quick and my Costco is the busiest one and all of North America
I'm from Vancouver and depending on which Costco you go to the Costco each Costco will have different stuff due to the demographic that lives in the area since Surrey has a massive population of Indians and Philippinos and the Costco reflects that with the products
So glas you picked up those marinated wings, they are amazing on the BBQ grill, they are seriously better than any wings I had before in restaurants, my American friends said they can't find it in the Seattle area, so we'll always buy them when they come visit.
Okay Shepard pie and the lasagna both needed to be turned off bake 10 minutes before done and put on high broil and allowed time to set up after pulling it out .
Shepherds pie dinner should not have a pasta sauce feel Should be plain with loads of gravy and extra veg carrots Brockley cabbage or fries 🍟 chips on the side
Costco sandwiches are delicious and reasonably priced for what you get. Wonderful for parties and some can be frozen. Or toasted later on to revitalise that way on later days. Thank you for the video.

This is really good." *Claps hands together and point down at the Twinky* "You GOTTA try this if you can! It could be a little sweeter, but overall its a 10/10!"
Authentic Shepherds Pie does have tomatoes, but also is made with Lamb, hence the name. The stuff you’re eating is actually Cottage pie. Cottage pie is made with beef. Depending on the region(originally Western European) it mostly has a beef stock gravy, that may or may not have diced or stewed tomatoes added. Also, the vegetables are different based on what is more readily available or grown. Peas were common in France, green and yellow beans England and carrots in Ireland, you get the picture. I studied cooking under a chef that was a food historian as well as theoligist.
