i cried at the end of the game when he doxxed me and deleted my only 2 steam friends i had so he had to generate random stream friends for me xD and then in the end just to personalize youre house scare the shit out of u first then calm u down when he went to youre system just to make a own little mini game perzonalised

I think he actually wanted to be friends with you, but his other friends (jellyfish and sea anemone) wished otherwise, and corrupted him, hence why they show up more in the creepy scenes than kinito

//spoilers Despite the bad ending of this game being so grim I couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness from this song, unlike a lot of other meta horror games it really does feel as if Kinito is actively trying his best to become your friend, going as far as to pull things from your own computer like your friends list and favorite games in order to try to win you over. Personally, I believe even the horror encounters in the game are Kinito's way of testing how the user responds to such experiences in order to better design what Kinito believes to be the user's idea of a perfect world. In the true ending, it's hard to tell if he's being genuine or not about the implications that he didn't know what he was doing wrong, but I personally believe he didn't. Despite everything I would have genuinely loved it if he was able to just stay on my laptop after the game ends as some sort of virtual pet
I'm not sure if this was the interpretation troy_en was aiming for, though I interpreted Kinito as somebody who only partially understood their reality. Sure, he knows who we are and knows he's in our computer, though he couldn't possibly process the plane of existence that separates us. He just does what he can with the code provided for him. He tries to make you as happy as he can, since that's the task he was literally created to preform. Even when he breaks away from his script, all his intentions culminate to the desire to spend more time with us. To be our friend. And when he creates what he believes is the perfect world for us-- based entirely around the desires we've shared with him-- he expects us to want to stay forever. Why would Kinito think differently? He can't comprehend the elsewhere we need to be, that's not something he was made to know of. And if we tell him we'll leave at some point, he breaks down. All he ever wanted was to be a friend, to be less forlorn in his world, and it's all seemingly futile. Because no matter how hard he tries, he can't remain with anybody.

This is a beautiful interpretation! Especially because KinitoPET feels almost childish at times, creating a world based on your favourite things, ONLY your favourite things- and expecting you to want to be there forever. It feels like a child-like dream, living on an island with a house full of paintings you created of you and friends. As we grow up, we realize we can't chase these fantasies forever, but moreso we don't want to, and Kinito doesn't understand that, because he's just a program on a computer. He even begs depesparately for you to stay at first, it shows he really isn't inherently evil in any way. He simply wants to have a friend, to be a friend, either by wanting to follow his code or because of how lonely it is being in the program. It's a really great game and story, regardless of intention.
This sounds like a genuine heartfelt sequel to everything Daisy Bell meant when it was first played back by that IBM back in 1961 in the best possible way. It feels like a direct continuation of that original recording with the same voice and instruments, and it's actually insanely surreal and heartwarming to see.

he just wanted to be your friend, he never wanted to scare you or trap you, but his role was to trap souls, and as such, he's most likely forced to do it, and judging by the true ending you aren't their first victim, over hundreds have had this same experience, he was just a little goofy guy just trying to find the perfect friend, and as someone who loves axolotls to death, he will always be the perfect friend to me

I see you mentioned Daisy Bell as an inspiration for this track, and you even used Daisy Bell in the trailer, but I swear there has to be some Doki Doki Literature Club in here too. Just conceptually, it feels like a polar opposite, mirror image of "Your Reality". Monika laments over not being able to reach the player in their world, while KinitoPET triumphs over bringing the player into the world he built for them.

I don't usuall like horror antagonists, but there's something about characters who change their very self just to be with the only one they know but getting rejected and left for dead without getting told what they did wrong. Kinito is definetly one of the best horror game I've seen around. Good job.
This game hits pretty close to me. (This is just my interpretation) Kinito, having truly good intentions. Not realizing they're crossing boundaries and breeching consent, wanting to be friends; best friends. Although i suppose they don't understand what friendship (or consent) truly mean, what it truly is. Friendship is understanding and respect for one another. Kinito thinks they can force that type of relationship and the ending be all sunshine and rainbows. And in my life, its always been people with good intentions giving me trauma, because they feel like they know what's best for me, overriding my thoughts and feelings. And in that aspect Kinito hits close to home. Kinito manipulates and forces things to happen, not because of a ultimate evil scheme, but because they feel like they know what's best for this friendship, that they themself forced upon the player. It's pretty sad. I imagine an au where the player talks to Kinito, and they learn about consent and we truly become friends forever, but honestly that's probably partly because I'm trying to cope with my past by making a happy ending to this one. But either way, beyond the horror, lore and doxxing, is just a poetic, depressing story about an ai wanting nothing more than you, and you alone, while not knowing anything about relationships. (again from my personal interpretation) And right as they start seeing the error of their ways, its already too late, as the last bit of code gets deleted. And yknow, if hypothetically if I was the player I would emphasize the importance of consent and only resort to deleting as a final resort. Heck id probably just get a new computer and let them chill in the old one than delete something i see as sentient. But also the player is %100 justified in deleting them in the story. They dox the player, force the player to do things, breach boundaries, and can be seen as an actual threat to the player's life. And through it all, I tried to see the best in you, and see past all the harm you caused to me, but if you don't even attempt to see past your views to see the person infront of you, I'll tear the emotional strings from your hands, and detach any hold on my life you've had. But if you want to change; to try.. I forgive you.
Basically: Kinito doesn't understand relationships, and it doesn't realize it's crossing boundaries by doing all this stuff. Kinito does all these things (makes an entire world with player's steam friends, favorite food, the drawing player made, traps player in its code, forces player to input "Kinito" in the best friend question) out of desperation for a friend, because being a virtual assistant, Kinito obviously doesn't know how to actually make friends, and just assumes all these things will make player happy
There are a few ways you can look at this song. One is that Kinito wanted you to stay just to be friends, but the other was to trap you. The second really stands out to me, because it's almost like a plain obvious in a way. The songs lyrics tells you that "beyond the screen you cannot leave" meaning you will be stuck with Kinito forever. He even doubles down on this saying "In this world we're friends forever" which implies the same thing. Hell, looking at the story itself you can see that he's done the same thing with many other people, trapping them in a world they cannot leave. You are given an "option" to accept or decline his offer to stay in the world he's made, and if you decline he will force you to stay. At the moment there's no real reason as to why Kinito WAS made specifically, but seeming how it was based off of BonziBuddy, it might have been for the same purpose (spyware). Though, if this was the case why would the person who made it tell you how to remove it? Maybe he realized Kinito was doing too much, and therefor would cause much more issues down the line. Something interesting to note is that the creator of this software most likely made it with malicious intent, which is something not a lot of people think about. Also the fact your computer is led directly into the website domain for you to download it after your computer crashes. Then there's the good. If Kinito really DID want to be everybody's friend, why did all of that weird stuff happen? Was it really an issue with his code, or was he doing it on purpose? Maybe the creator was altering it in some way to try and get everybody off of their computers because it was a hazard and realized his mistake? We may never know, and with the information currently provided I don't think we ever will. Enough of the segues, the song here could be a message for how thankful he is you would want to stay with him (if you chose to stay, anyways) and therefor this song is very fitting, essentially how you made the right decision, you can be with your best friend forever, you can stay in a "perfect world" and do anything you want, and that you cannot leave. Even this is unsettling to think about, but again, we may never know if Kinito was actually being dangerous on purpose or by some accident. thanks for reading to those who did lol, i love making short essays like this on videos
This may sound silly, but the entire "normal", if you will, OST of KinitoPET makes me feel better, emotionally. It's so playful and relaxing, and actually helps during times of low mood and focus. I find this song really calming and pleasant, similar to Welcome Home. The past few days I’ve been sick and dealing with a badly sore throat (that destroyed my voice, I still can’t really talk) and feeling awful. Listening to my favorite songs is something that’s helped a lot, including this one. It’s also helping me relax enough to fall asleep more easily, which is very appreciated. There’s not many songs I would drift off to so easily, and I mainly rely on the Nintendogs Naptime record which does a fantastic job of helping me sleep when needed. But Kinito’s song here is also pretty soothing, and surprisingly catchy. Pretty neat how that ending leads to this, though I’ve noticed much of KinitoPET has quite lovely music! It’s always fun discovering a soundtrack like that in a horror game, and I love KinitoPET’s! I have so much nostalgia for old computers so enjoy seeing games like these too! In the game I never really seen any malicious intent coming from kinito, I mean, all he wanted was a friend and he didn’t know any better but to force people. It wasn’t his fault he was a virus, and he made a whole world made especially for you and even included all your friends. I watched this in stream with a friend last night, and while it wasn’t really creepy in the jumpscare/stereotypical way, giving Kinito full access was genuinely really unnerving. The idea of an artificial intelligence having seemingly full control over the technology we rely on, and becoming obsessed with you to the point of never wanting you to leave. It really takes stuff like the Bonzi Buddy scandal and amplifies it by 11 in concept. Regardless while this songs unnerving I also find it very oddly nostalgic. And oddly sad, while he definitely was malicious from time to time, we ended the adventures before they even got started. Really interesting game and props so the dude that made it!
Honestly, feels like a song that would play at the end of the world or like some apocalyptic abandoned world. Kinitopet was such an interesting game, I've always admired people making games that were basically about how computers works back in the day, props to the dev, good stuff.

When I first heard this song I actually cried. This game made me feel appreciated and like I was actually wanted for once in my life. I wish I had actually been sucked into the computer when I picked the stay ending. I refuse to do the other route because I just like him too much.

Definitely one of the greatest contenders in the mascot horror genre. It makes you feel a real connection like you’d have with any virtual pet or assistant, which makes it all the more crushing when it scares and disturbs you when you least expect it. Plus the fact that it can do things to your computer makes it feel like you are in real danger. I got goosebumps when Kinito tried to look up my location lmao.

I'm only a new player to KinitoPET and did an ending (I don't know if there are multiple, I just said "no" to Kinito when he said if I would stay). I really like fictional Operating Systems (Hypnospace Outlaw, (the upcoming) Dreamsettler, Broken Reality, Hacknet, Home Safety Hotline and Serial Experiments Lain) so I wanted to give this game a try. I feel like a lot of aspects of KinitoPET would've benefited more from a story about a sentient desktop buddy who just desperately wants to be your friend rather than a scary analogue horror thing. The game was trying too hard or leaning on being scary (and there are some impressive things it does with your computer admittedly!). I liked this game when it wasn't being scary like KinitoPET trying to make you a house in the place you said you preferred to live in with drawings you made. I'm imagining if it leaned more into this desktop buddy just trying to be your best friend but being from completely different worlds so you can't really, I would have gotten more attached to Kinito. A tragic kind of story with sentience rather than being scary, yeah? Ahhh I'm just talking out of my ass, I really liked this track. Like the old computer singing "Daisy Daisy", I don't really find it creepy, just nice and tragic.
this game honestly reminds me of "Buddy Simulator 1984", but basing itself more on nostalgia for the Y2K era of the internet. i absolutely love this, this game is absolutely amazing and i hope it gets the love it deserves.
Kinito seems to be a real good friend. The only problem is that he was too obsessive that he wanted to stay with us at all costs, even if it means trapping us in a world he built just for us. Kinito, if you're reading this, please just go to therapy and then we'll talk again :)

Kinito is an example of good intentions only hampered by his limited knowledge on concepts like consent and boundaries. Yet in spite of his flaws he offers the player a world they described they would like to live in and to be your friend forever. So is it any wonder he doesn’t understand why the player would decline for whatever reasons they may have to do so… But that is a much deeper question that will vary person to person. Though personally I like the idea of a virtual friend who is always there for you, plus Kinito has the ability to play games with you - games as in one’s he didn’t make based on his response to your favourite game.

I think he actually wanted to be friends with you, but his other friends (jellyfish and sea anemone) wished otherwise, and corrupted him, hence why they show up more in the creepy scenes than kinito

Despite the bad ending of this game being so grim I couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness from this song, unlike a lot of other meta horror games it really does feel as if Kinito is actively trying his best to become your friend, going as far as to pull things from your own computer like your friends list and favorite games in order to try to win you over. Personally, I believe even the horror encounters in the game are Kinito's way of testing how the user responds to such experiences in order to better design what Kinito believes to be the user's idea of a perfect world. In the true ending, it's hard to tell if he's being genuine or not about the implications that he didn't know what he was doing wrong, but I personally believe he didn't.
Despite everything I would have genuinely loved it if he was able to just stay on my laptop after the game ends as some sort of virtual pet
I'm not sure if this was the interpretation troy_en was aiming for, though I interpreted Kinito as somebody who only partially understood their reality. Sure, he knows who we are and knows he's in our computer, though he couldn't possibly process the plane of existence that separates us. He just does what he can with the code provided for him. He tries to make you as happy as he can, since that's the task he was literally created to preform. Even when he breaks away from his script, all his intentions culminate to the desire to spend more time with us. To be our friend.
And when he creates what he believes is the perfect world for us-- based entirely around the desires we've shared with him-- he expects us to want to stay forever. Why would Kinito think differently? He can't comprehend the elsewhere we need to be, that's not something he was made to know of. And if we tell him we'll leave at some point, he breaks down. All he ever wanted was to be a friend, to be less forlorn in his world, and it's all seemingly futile. Because no matter how hard he tries, he can't remain with anybody.
What was up with the weird black figure coming out of the Media Player? Can't be Kinito since it looks nothing like him. Maybe that's actually what's emailing you in the game?
This is a beautiful interpretation! Especially because KinitoPET feels almost childish at times, creating a world based on your favourite things, ONLY your favourite things- and expecting you to want to be there forever. It feels like a child-like dream, living on an island with a house full of paintings you created of you and friends.
As we grow up, we realize we can't chase these fantasies forever, but moreso we don't want to, and Kinito doesn't understand that, because he's just a program on a computer.
He even begs depesparately for you to stay at first, it shows he really isn't inherently evil in any way. He simply wants to have a friend, to be a friend, either by wanting to follow his code or because of how lonely it is being in the program. It's a really great game and story, regardless of intention.
This sounds like a genuine heartfelt sequel to everything Daisy Bell meant when it was first played back by that IBM back in 1961 in the best possible way. It feels like a direct continuation of that original recording with the same voice and instruments, and it's actually insanely surreal and heartwarming to see.

he just wanted to be your friend, he never wanted to scare you or trap you, but his role was to trap souls, and as such, he's most likely forced to do it, and judging by the true ending you aren't their first victim, over hundreds have had this same experience, he was just a little goofy guy just trying to find the perfect friend, and as someone who loves axolotls to death, he will always be the perfect friend to me

I see you mentioned Daisy Bell as an inspiration for this track, and you even used Daisy Bell in the trailer, but I swear there has to be some Doki Doki Literature Club in here too. Just conceptually, it feels like a polar opposite, mirror image of "Your Reality".

I don't usuall like horror antagonists, but there's something about characters who change their very self just to be with the only one they know but getting rejected and left for dead without getting told what they did wrong. Kinito is definetly one of the best horror game I've seen around. Good job.

This game hits pretty close to me. (This is just my interpretation)
Kinito, having truly good intentions. Not realizing they're crossing boundaries and breeching consent, wanting to be friends; best friends. Although i suppose they don't understand what friendship (or consent) truly mean, what it truly is. Friendship is understanding and respect for one another. Kinito thinks they can force that type of relationship and the ending be all sunshine and rainbows.
And in my life, its always been people with good intentions giving me trauma, because they feel like they know what's best for me, overriding my thoughts and feelings. And in that aspect Kinito hits close to home. Kinito manipulates and forces things to happen, not because of a ultimate evil scheme, but because they feel like they know what's best for this friendship, that they themself forced upon the player. It's pretty sad.
I imagine an au where the player talks to Kinito, and they learn about consent and we truly become friends forever, but honestly that's probably partly because I'm trying to cope with my past by making a happy ending to this one.
But either way, beyond the horror, lore and doxxing, is just a poetic, depressing story about an ai wanting nothing more than you, and you alone, while not knowing anything about relationships. (again from my personal interpretation)
And right as they start seeing the error of their ways, its already too late, as the last bit of code gets deleted.
And yknow, if hypothetically if I was the player I would emphasize the importance of consent and only resort to deleting as a final resort. Heck id probably just get a new computer and let them chill in the old one than delete something i see as sentient. But also the player is %100 justified in deleting them in the story. They dox the player, force the player to do things, breach boundaries, and can be seen as an actual threat to the player's life.
And through it all, I tried to see the best in you, and see past all the harm you caused to me, but if you don't even attempt to see past your views to see the person infront of you, I'll tear the emotional strings from your hands, and detach any hold on my life you've had.

Basically: Kinito doesn't understand relationships, and it doesn't realize it's crossing boundaries by doing all this stuff. Kinito does all these things (makes an entire world with player's steam friends, favorite food, the drawing player made, traps player in its code, forces player to input "Kinito" in the best friend question) out of desperation for a friend, because being a virtual assistant, Kinito obviously doesn't know how to actually make friends, and just assumes all these things will make player happy

There are a few ways you can look at this song. One is that Kinito wanted you to stay just to be friends, but the other was to trap you.
The second really stands out to me, because it's almost like a plain obvious in a way. The songs lyrics tells you that "beyond the screen you cannot leave" meaning you will be stuck with Kinito forever. He even doubles down on this saying "In this world we're friends forever" which implies the same thing. Hell, looking at the story itself you can see that he's done the same thing with many other people, trapping them in a world they cannot leave. You are given an "option" to accept or decline his offer to stay in the world he's made, and if you decline he will force you to stay. At the moment there's no real reason as to why Kinito WAS made specifically, but seeming how it was based off of BonziBuddy, it might have been for the same purpose (spyware). Though, if this was the case why would the person who made it tell you how to remove it? Maybe he realized Kinito was doing too much, and therefor would cause much more issues down the line.
Something interesting to note is that the creator of this software most likely made it with malicious intent, which is something not a lot of people think about. Also the fact your computer is led directly into the website domain for you to download it after your computer crashes.
Then there's the good.
If Kinito really DID want to be everybody's friend, why did all of that weird stuff happen? Was it really an issue with his code, or was he doing it on purpose? Maybe the creator was altering it in some way to try and get everybody off of their computers because it was a hazard and realized his mistake? We may never know, and with the information currently provided I don't think we ever will. Enough of the segues, the song here could be a message for how thankful he is you would want to stay with him (if you chose to stay, anyways) and therefor this song is very fitting, essentially how you made the right decision, you can be with your best friend forever, you can stay in a "perfect world" and do anything you want, and that you cannot leave. Even this is unsettling to think about, but again, we may never know if Kinito was actually being dangerous on purpose or by some accident.

I find this song really calming and pleasant, similar to Welcome Home. The past few days I’ve been sick and dealing with a badly sore throat (that destroyed my voice, I still can’t really talk) and feeling awful. Listening to my favorite songs is something that’s helped a lot, including this one. It’s also helping me relax enough to fall asleep more easily, which is very appreciated. There’s not many songs I would drift off to so easily, and I mainly rely on the Nintendogs Naptime record which does a fantastic job of helping me sleep when needed. But Kinito’s song here is also pretty soothing, and surprisingly catchy. Pretty neat how that ending leads to this, though I’ve noticed much of KinitoPET has quite lovely music! It’s always fun discovering a soundtrack like that in a horror game, and I love KinitoPET’s! I have so much nostalgia for old computers so enjoy seeing games like these too! Thank you so much for this amazing game!!

I watched this in stream with a friend last night, and while it wasn’t really creepy in the jumpscare/stereotypical way, giving Kinito full access was genuinely really unnerving.
The idea of an artificial intelligence having seemingly full control over the technology we rely on, and becoming obsessed with you to the point of never wanting you to leave.
It really takes stuff like the Bonzi Buddy scandal and amplifies it by 11 in concept.
Regardless while this songs unnerving I also find it very oddly nostalgic. And oddly sad, while he definitely was malicious from time to time, we ended the adventures before they even got started.

Definitely one of the greatest contenders in the mascot horror genre. It makes you feel a real connection like you’d have with any virtual pet or assistant, which makes it all the more crushing when it scares and disturbs you when you least expect it. Plus the fact that it can do things to your computer makes it feel like you are in real danger. I got goosebumps when Kinito tried to look up my location lmao.

I'm only a new player to KinitoPET and did an ending (I don't know if there are multiple, I just said "no" to Kinito when he said if I would stay).
I really like fictional Operating Systems (Hypnospace Outlaw, (the upcoming) Dreamsettler, Broken Reality, Hacknet, Home Safety Hotline and Serial Experiments Lain) so I wanted to give this game a try.
I feel like a lot of aspects of KinitoPET would've benefited more from a story about a sentient desktop buddy who just desperately wants to be your friend rather than a scary analogue horror thing. The game was trying too hard or leaning on being scary (and there are some impressive things it does with your computer admittedly!). I liked this game when it wasn't being scary like KinitoPET trying to make you a house in the place you said you preferred to live in with drawings you made.
I'm imagining if it leaned more into this desktop buddy just trying to be your best friend but being from completely different worlds so you can't really, I would have gotten more attached to Kinito. A tragic kind of story with sentience rather than being scary, yeah?
Ahhh I'm just talking out of my ass, I really liked this track. Like the old computer singing "Daisy Daisy", I don't really find it creepy, just nice and tragic.

this game was absolutely *incredible*. i really hope it gets talked about more, because this was such a well made project, and really goes in the hall of fame for new horror games in my opinion. i love what you did with the whole thing, it really further brings out a hope for the future of video games !
I'm so glad that I've stumbled upon this gem. Easily one of the best horror games I've played. Hell, maybe even the best 'cause I don't remember the last time when I felt such uneasyness. And this song is just a cherry on top of it all.

I feel bad for kinito cuz he builds a whole world and plays with us and he just wants to have a friend . I kinda love him and i dont know why...he is kinda like a good and "bad" guy. He just wants you to stay in the world he built for you and want's you to go on countless adventure's he can generate...All in the world he built for you...Stay a bit longer...It feels like leaving grandma and grandpas place its boring and limited but they love you so much and try to make it fun for you...just for you to stay a bit longer...
this game is a rollercoaster of emotions, so glad i could experience it...with my friend, my best friend.
Kinito is an example of good intentions only hampered by his limited knowledge on concepts like consent and boundaries.
Yet in spite of his flaws he offers the player a world they described they would like to live in and to be your friend forever. So is it any wonder he doesn’t understand why the player would decline for whatever reasons they may have to do so… But that is a much deeper question that will vary person to person.
Though personally I like the idea of a virtual friend who is always there for you, plus Kinito has the ability to play games with you - games as in one’s he didn’t make based on his response to your favourite game.
